Camera differences: OIS or a higher-resolution selfie camera?
Samsung lists a 50MP main rear camera with OIS alongside 5MP and 2MP rear cameras, plus a 13MP front camera. vivo lists 50MP and 2MP rear cameras, plus a 32MP front camera. OIS is a relevant listed feature for the A17 5G’s main rear camera, while the T5x has the higher listed front-camera resolution. Megapixel counts do not, by themselves, establish photo quality, and these specifications are not a camera test.
Durability, software and storage
Samsung claims IP54 resistance and Gorilla Glass Victus on the A17 5G’s front. It also says the phone receives six generations of Android upgrades and six years of security updates. Samsung’s announcement phrases this as “segment’s best”; that is the company’s promotional claim, not an independently verified comparison.

vivo lists IP68/IP69+ protection for the T5x 5G and Android 16 with OriginOS 6. The cited product information does not state an equivalent duration for software or security updates, so the two phones’ support commitments cannot be compared on equal terms from those pages.
For storage flexibility, Samsung lists microSD expansion up to 2TB. vivo lists 128GB and 256GB internal-storage variants and says ROM expansion is unsupported on its parameter page. Consider the capacity you need before buying if adding a card matters to you.

Price difference in India: what the available figures show
Samsung’s India launch announcement, dated 3 September 2025, listed these A17 5G prices:
- 6GB/128GB: ₹18,999
- 8GB/128GB: ₹20,499
- 8GB/256GB: ₹23,499
Those are historical launch prices, not a statement of today’s retail price. A dependable current price difference cannot be established from the available listings: vivo shop results showed conflicting prices, while Samsung’s purchase page displayed changeable offers. Compare the same RAM and storage configuration at the same time, and account for seller, stock status and offer conditions. Do not treat launch pricing or mismatched listings as a current like-for-like gap.

Which phone should you choose?
- Consider the Galaxy A17 5G if Super AMOLED, OIS on the main rear camera, microSD expansion or Samsung’s stated update duration are the priorities that matter most to you.
- Consider the vivo T5x 5G if its larger rated battery, faster rated charging, 120Hz maximum refresh rate or higher listed front-camera resolution better fits your priorities.
This is a specification-based distinction, not a hands-on verdict. The listed chipset names and manufacturing processes do not establish a real-world performance winner; no independent performance, gaming, battery-runtime or camera comparison is available here. Check the exact 5G model and storage variant when shopping: the Galaxy A17 name is also used for a 4G model, whose specifications should not be substituted for this comparison.
