Which phone has the better display and battery?
Display: vivo has the reported spec-sheet edge
The S2 5G community post describes a 6.83-inch 1.5K panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate, compared with Samsung’s documented 6.7-inch-class FHD+ screen and up-to-90 Hz refresh. On those listed specifications, vivo offers more screen area, resolution and refresh rate. That does not establish which screen looks better in person: brightness, color calibration, reflections and other viewing conditions are not compared in the cited material.

Battery: capacity is not a runtime test
The vivo post reports a 7,050 mAh battery and 44W charging, versus Samsung’s 5,000 mAh typical capacity and 25W fast charging. The capacity figures favor vivo on paper, but they do not prove longer real-world battery life or a particular charging time. Usage, mobile-network conditions, display settings and software affect endurance, and no independent comparative battery test is established here.
Camera and performance: compare evidence, not just numbers
Samsung lists a triple rear-camera setup of 50 MP, 5 MP and 2 MP, a 13 MP front camera, and OIS on the main camera in its launch announcement. The vivo Community post reports two rear cameras at 50 MP and 2 MP, plus a 32 MP front camera. More megapixels do not by themselves mean better photos; the cited material does not provide a controlled image-quality comparison.

The same post identifies the S2 5G processor as a Dimensity 7360-Turbo, while Samsung’s cited India specs state CPU speeds of 2.4 GHz and 2.0 GHz without naming the chipset on that page. There are no verified benchmark results here to support a claim that one is faster. Treat performance scores on comparison pages as secondary unless their test method and exact regional model are clear.

Software support and storage may matter more over time
Samsung’s support commitment is explicit
Samsung announced six generations of Android upgrades and six years of security updates for the Galaxy A17 5G in India. Its India product page lists the security-update period through 31 August 2031. The vivo security list includes the names “S2, S2 5G,” but does not make a comparable consumer support-duration promise for this model. That distinction is about what the cited sources establish, not proof that vivo provides no updates.

Only the A17 has documented microSD expansion here
Samsung’s cited India model supports microSD cards up to 2 TB and uses a hybrid SIM/microSD slot, so using a memory card may mean giving up the second SIM position. The vivo community post does not state whether its reported storage can be expanded. Check the exact regional model and SIM tray before buying a card or relying on dual-SIM use.
What is the price difference in India?
There is no single defensible current price difference in the available price snapshots because the dates and sources differ. Samsung’s figures are its India launch prices from 3 September 2025, not current transaction quotes. The vivo Community post reports ₹39,999 for 8GB/128GB and ₹44,999 for 8GB/256GB, but its publication year is not established in the page details.

Which one should you choose?
- Choose the Galaxy A17 5G if Samsung’s stated update schedule, documented India specifications, OIS on the main camera, or microSD expansion are priorities. Its hybrid slot is a trade-off if you need two SIMs and a memory card at once.
- Consider the vivo S2 5G if the community-reported larger 1.5K 120 Hz display, 7,050 mAh battery, or 44W charging match your priorities—and you can confirm those details for the exact unit being sold.
- For either phone, verify before paying the regional model, RAM/storage, network-band compatibility, warranty terms and live seller price. Samsung’s own country specifications show that variants can differ by market; a general comparison page is not a substitute for the exact model listing.
