Which phone has the better display?
The realme P4 5G has the higher stated refresh rate: up to 144Hz, compared with 90Hz listed for the Galaxy A17 5G on a comparison page. Its 6.77-inch panel is also slightly larger than Samsung’s 6.7-inch display. Samsung describes its screen as FHD+ Super AMOLED; realme lists a 1080 × 2392 AMOLED panel. Those labels and refresh-rate figures alone do not settle which screen looks better in person.

realme lists a 7000mAh typical battery (6830mAh minimum) and 80W charging for the P4 5G, and says an adapter is included. Samsung lists a 5000mAh battery and 25W charging for the A17 5G. That gives the P4 the advantage on published capacity and charging rate, but not a proven endurance win: actual battery life depends on use, settings and conditions, and no controlled head-to-head battery test is established here.

Camera differences: stabilization versus resolution
Both phones list a 50MP main camera. Samsung specifies OIS, which helps stabilize the camera against movement; realme’s listed main-camera resolution does not by itself show whether its photos are better or worse. Samsung also lists a 5MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro camera, while realme lists an 8MP wide-angle camera. The P4’s 16MP selfie camera has a higher stated resolution than the A17’s 13MP unit, but megapixels alone are not a controlled camera comparison.
There is no established same-condition camera test here to name a photographic winner. If OIS is a priority, the A17 is the option with that feature explicitly listed.

Software support, durability and storage
Samsung says the Galaxy A17 5G will receive six generations of Android upgrades and six years of security updates. No equivalent realme P4 5G commitment was verified in the official information used here, so Samsung has the clearer published promise for buyers planning to keep a phone for years.
Samsung also lists Gorilla Glass Victus, IP54 dust and splash resistance, and microSD expansion up to 2TB. IP54 should not be read as waterproofing. The comparison information available here does not establish equivalent P4 figures for these points.

Samsung India’s launch announcement on 3 September 2025 listed these Galaxy A17 5G prices:
- ₹18,999 for 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.
- ₹20,499 for 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.
- ₹23,499 for 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.
These are launch prices, not guaranteed current prices. Samsung said the phone would be sold through retail stores, Samsung Exclusive Stores, Samsung.com and other online sellers.

- The MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra platform matches your priorities, while recognizing that manufacturer performance claims are not independent test results.
- You can find it in stock at a competitive price for the configuration you want.
Choose the Samsung Galaxy A17 5G if
- You value Samsung’s stated six Android upgrade generations and six years of security updates.
- You want a main camera with explicitly listed OIS, IP54 dust and splash resistance, or microSD expansion.
- Its final price and RAM/storage configuration make sense for your budget.
Check that you are comparing the India-market 5G models and the same RAM and storage tier. The Galaxy A17 also comes in a 4G version in some markets, and specifications can vary by region.
