On paper, the Galaxy M47 5G has the bigger battery (6,000mAh vs 5,000mAh), faster charging (45W vs 25W) and a higher-refresh screen (120Hz vs 90Hz). The Galaxy A17 5G has the better-documented software promise: six OS upgrades and six years of security updates, confirmed by Samsung. One caveat matters: the A17 figures come from Samsung, while the M47 figures come from comparison sites covering an India-market phone. No Samsung M47 product page was available to confirm them.

Where each phone looks stronger
Display
Both use Super AMOLED panels. The M47’s reported 120Hz refresh gives smoother scrolling than the A17’s 90Hz, and the A17’s screen is slightly larger. No comparable testing of brightness or colour was found, so overall display quality is not something this comparison can rank.
Performance
The Exynos 1330 and Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 are different chips from different generations, and the M47’s is the newer one. Chip names alone don’t establish real-world speed, and no verified head-to-head benchmark was found. Expect the M47 to be at least comparable, but treat that as an expectation, not a measured result.

Cameras
Both list a 50MP main, 5MP ultrawide and 2MP macro. Samsung specifies optical image stabilisation on the A17’s main camera. Matching megapixel counts say little about image quality, since sensors, processing and stabilisation vary. No side-by-side photo test was found.
Battery and charging
The M47’s reported 6,000mAh cell and 45W charging are a clear paper advantage over the A17’s 5,000mAh and 25W. Real endurance depends on the chip, screen refresh rate and usage, and no runtime tests were found for either phone.

Software support
Samsung’s UK announcement promises six OS upgrades and six years of security updates for the A17 series. The M47 is reported to ship with Android 16, and comparison sites claim similar update length. Until Samsung confirms that for your market, treat it as likely but unconfirmed.

The price difference, and why a single number would mislead
The A17 5G launched in the UK on August 27, 2025 at £199, per Samsung’s announcement: “available now in retail stores and on Samsung.com for £199.” That is a historical launch price. Samsung’s UK page now lists that variant as no longer available. The M47 prices on 91mobiles are India-market Amazon listings that change over time.

Subtracting one from the other would mix currencies, countries, dates and offer types, so this article does not give a price gap. To get a real one:
- Pick your country and a single retailer.
- Match RAM and storage on both phones.
- Note whether each price is list price or a temporary offer (bank discounts, coupons).
- Record the date, since both phones’ prices move.
The M47 is reported as an India-market phone with a mid-2026 launch, and it may not be sold in your region. Check local availability first.

Which should you pick?
- Choose the M47 5G if it is sold where you live, and the 6,000mAh battery, 45W charging and 120Hz screen matter most. Confirm its specs on a Samsung page first.
- Choose the A17 5G if you want a documented six-year update promise, confirmed microSD support up to 2TB and OIS on the main camera. It may also be available at a lower street price, but check that locally.
- If prices are close in your market, the M47’s reported hardware lead is the stronger case. If the A17 is meaningfully cheaper, its verified support and features make it the safer buy.
