For US buyers choosing among Samsung’s current 2026 Galaxy A-series phones, the main trade-offs are price, display refresh rate, memory-card support, charging speed, and camera configuration. Samsung lists the A17 5G at $249.99, A27 5G at $349.99, A37 5G at $449.99, and A57 5G at $549.99 before eligible trade-in. Those are Samsung-listed starting prices, not guaranteed checkout prices. The A17 and A27 keep expandable storage; the A37 and A57 add faster charging and 120Hz displays. Which is best depends on which of those differences matters to you.

Which Samsung Galaxy A-series phone should you buy?
Choose the Galaxy A17 5G for the lowest listed price and expandable storage
The A17 is the least expensive of these four at Samsung’s listed US starting price of $249.99 before eligible trade-in. It has 4GB RAM, 128GB built-in storage, a 90Hz display, and a microSD-card slot supporting cards up to 2TB. It makes the most sense if keeping the initial price down and adding storage later matter more than having a 120Hz screen or more RAM.

Choose the Galaxy A27 5G for 120Hz and expandable storage
The A27 costs $100 more at the listed starting prices, and steps up to 6GB RAM and a 120Hz display while retaining 128GB built-in storage and support for memory cards up to 2TB. It is the middle option for someone who wants the smoother-refresh-rate display without giving up card expansion. Samsung’s A27 product page says it receives up to six OS upgrades and up to six years of security updates; “up to” is Samsung’s stated support qualification, not a promise that every update arrives on the same schedule. Choose the Galaxy A37 5G for faster wired charging and a more capable listed camera setup
The A37 starts at $449.99 before eligible trade-in. It has a 120Hz display, up to 45W wired charging, and configurations with 6GB or 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage. Unlike the A17 and A27, it does not support external memory cards. Its listed rear cameras are a 50MP main, 8MP ultrawide, and 5MP macro, with 4K video recording at 30 frames per second.

Choose the Galaxy A57 5G for the highest listed configuration in this group
At a listed starting price of $549.99 before eligible trade-in, the A57 is the most expensive of these four. It pairs 8GB RAM with 128GB or 256GB storage, a 120Hz Super AMOLED Plus display, and up to 45W wired charging. Its listed rear cameras are a 50MP main, 12MP ultrawide, and 5MP macro, with 4K video recording at 30 frames per second. It is the one to consider if you want the top-listed A-series configuration here; the specifications do not establish how much better it performs in everyday use than the less expensive models.

Display smoothness
All four models are listed with a 6.7-inch FHD+ display. The A17 runs at 90Hz, while the A27, A37, and A57 are listed at 120Hz. A higher refresh rate can make scrolling and supported animations look smoother, but the specification does not by itself establish overall display quality.

Storage and memory
The A17 and A27 each have 128GB built-in storage and accept external memory cards up to 2TB. The A37 and A57 are offered with 128GB or 256GB storage but have no external-card support. If your photos, videos, or downloads are likely to fill the phone, choose enough built-in storage when buying an A37 or A57; a card is not an upgrade path for those models. RAM also varies: 4GB on A17, 6GB on A27, 6GB or 8GB on A37, and 8GB on A57.
Battery capacity and charging
Samsung lists a 5,000mAh battery for each model. The A17 and A27 support wired charging up to 25W; the A37 and A57 support up to 45W. Samsung’s comparison says wireless charging and PowerShare are unsupported on these phones. Battery capacity is not the same as measured battery life, and charging speed depends on compatible charging equipment and conditions.

Software support and AI features
Samsung advertises six years of security and software updates for the series on its US lineup page. Its A27 product page is more specific, stating up to six OS upgrades and up to six years of security updates for that model. Treat the A27 wording as a model-specific, qualified statement; the lineup’s general claim does not provide the same detail for every model.
Samsung also lists certain AI features, including Gemini and Circle to Search, for the 2026 models, with availability subject to model and market details. Feature support can depend on the exact device, region, software, and service, so check the model’s product information rather than assuming every feature works identically across the series.
Are Samsung Galaxy A-series phones worth it?
The published specifications show a clear set of trade-offs across Samsung’s four US-listed models: each has a 5,000mAh battery and a 50MP main camera, while display refresh rate, RAM, storage flexibility, charging rate, and secondary cameras vary. Whether one is worth its price depends on your priorities and the actual offer available to you. The listed prices and specifications do not establish independent benchmark performance, measured battery runtime, camera quality, or value against competing phones. Samsung describes the A-series as bringing newer features to more users; that is the company’s launch positioning, not independent proof of performance or user outcomes.
