Model number, country and carrier determine what is available and which features apply. Samsung’s published material documents the A26 5G, A36 5G and A56 5G announced in March 2025, followed by entry-level A17 and A07 models listed in a 2026 corporate report; that record is not a complete worldwide sales lineup for October 2026.
What the Galaxy A series includes
Galaxy A covers phones with different hardware and market positions. A higher or lower model number alone does not establish every difference that matters, and specifications should be checked against the exact model sold in your market. Samsung says availability can vary by country, region and carrier.

Samsung’s 2026 first-quarter interim report offers a dated snapshot of several releases: the A56 5G, A36 5G and A26 5G launched in March 2025; the A17 5G and A07 in August 2025; the A17 LTE in September 2025; and the A07 5G in January 2026. The report describes the A17 5G and A07 5G as entry-level 5G models. It does not establish that these are the only Galaxy A phones sold worldwide today. How the 2025 A26, A36 and A56 compare
Samsung’s March 2025 announcement gives a useful comparison within one generation. It highlights the display, chipset, battery, charging, water-resistance rating and software-support promise for the A36 and A56; the A26 is part of the same launch but should not be assumed to share every specification shown for those two models.

What Samsung specifies for the Galaxy A56 5G
The A56 5G is a concrete example of the features associated with the 2025 generation. Samsung lists an Exynos 1580 processor, a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, a 5,000mAh typical-capacity battery and an IP67 rating. Samsung’s UK FAQ specifies a rear camera setup with a 12MP ultra-wide, 50MP wide and 5MP macro camera, plus a 12MP selfie camera. Camera megapixel counts describe resolution, not a guarantee of image quality.

Samsung’s UK page says the A56’s IP67 testing covers submersion in up to 1 meter of freshwater for up to 30 minutes. That is not an unconditional waterproof guarantee: Samsung cautions against beach or pool use and says water and dust resistance can diminish over time. Samsung UK Galaxy A56 5G features and FAQ
Software support and Samsung’s AI positioning
For the A26 5G, A36 5G and A56 5G in its March 2025 announcement, Samsung promised up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and six years of security updates. “Up to” matters: it is a maximum commitment, not a claim that every phone receives an identical update on the same date. Samsung’s A56 product page also says update availability and timing may vary by device model and market.
Samsung marketed selected features in this generation under the name “Awesome Intelligence.” TM Roh, Samsung’s President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business, described the aim as bringing mobile AI to more users and offering new ways to explore and capture the world. That statement represents Samsung’s positioning; it is not an independent assessment of the features. Samsung Global Newsroom, March 28, 2025

Availability and price depend on the market
Samsung announced global availability for the A56 5G, A36 5G and A26 5G beginning March 28, 2025, while warning that availability could vary by country, region and carrier. A model name therefore does not guarantee local stock, network compatibility or an identical configuration.
In a July 18, 2025 US update, Samsung said the A56 5G started at $499.99, with 128GB and 256GB variants. This is a historical US starting price, not a current quote or a price for other countries. Quick Recap
What to check before choosing a Galaxy A phone
- Exact model and connectivity: Confirm whether the listing is for 5G or LTE and verify carrier and regional support. Samsung notes that network availability may depend on country, region and carrier.
- Display and chipset: Compare the screen size, resolution and panel type, along with the processor specified for that particular model. Do not infer real-world speed from a chipset name alone.
- Cameras: Check the complete camera configuration and whether the software features you want are available on that model and in your market.
- Battery and charging: Compare both capacity and charging specification. Samsung’s report lists a 6,000mAh battery for the A07 5G, while its 2025 announcement lists 5,000mAh for the A36 5G and A56 5G; these company-published figures do not establish comparative battery life.
- Durability: Look for the specific IP rating, if any, and its limitations. Do not treat a water-resistance rating as permission for beach, pool or prolonged water exposure.
- Updates: Confirm the support commitment for the exact model and account for Samsung’s qualification that timing and availability may vary by model and market.
- Local price and stock: Compare current offers in your country, for the same storage configuration and carrier status.
