In Samsung’s 2026 comparison, the Galaxy A17, A27, A37 and A57 share a 5,000mAh battery, but differ materially in refresh rate, storage expansion, cameras, video recording and charging. Samsung’s US shopping page shows a different set—A17, A26, A37 and A57—so the exact model and regional variant must be checked before you compare prices or buy.
The practical rule is simple: choose the A17 for the lowest entry point and expandable storage, the A27 for a smoother display and 4K video while retaining a card slot, the A37 for faster charging and higher-tier cameras, or the A57 for Samsung’s strongest listed A-series camera and Super AMOLED Plus display. Those are specification-based trade-offs, not independent performance or image-quality rankings.

What the Galaxy A-series is—and why model lists differ
Galaxy A phones are Samsung’s mainstream smartphones, positioned below the company’s flagship Galaxy S family. Samsung varies the A-series by country, carrier and release period, so “the A-series” does not identify one universal set of phones. A model sold in one market may be absent from another, use different memory options, or advertise a different maximum microSD capacity.

The Samsung US support comparison covers A17, A27, A37 and A57. Samsung’s US Galaxy A-series lineup page displays A57, A37, A26 and A17 instead. The A27 therefore should not be assumed to be a US retail model simply because it appears in the support table, and the A26 cannot be given A27 specifications without a model-specific source.

Before comparing offers, record the exact model name, storage capacity, country and carrier version. Use the local Samsung catalog and that phone’s support page; do not merge specifications from similarly named phones sold in different regions.

The following values come from Samsung’s 2026 support comparison. They describe the models covered by that page, not every A-series phone sold worldwide.

Samsung also lists digital zoom of up to 10x for these models. The table reports hardware and advertised recording modes; it does not establish low-light quality, stabilization quality, processing speed or battery endurance in independent testing.
Display: the refresh-rate gap matters more than size
All four phones in the comparison use a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED panel, so screen size is not a useful way to separate them. The important distinction is motion smoothness. The A17 is listed at 90Hz, while the A27, A37 and A57 are listed at 120Hz. A higher refresh rate can make scrolling and supported animations appear smoother, although the visible benefit depends on software, content and power settings.

Samsung identifies the A57’s panel as Super AMOLED Plus. The other three are identified as Super AMOLED. Samsung’s table does not provide brightness measurements, color-accuracy results or outdoor legibility tests, so those should not be inferred from the panel names.
Memory and storage: decide whether you need a card slot
The most consequential storage decision is whether the phone accepts a microSD card. Samsung’s support table lists expansion up to 2TB for A17 and A27, while A37 and A57 have no external memory-card support. The listed internal configurations also move upward: A17 is shown with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage; A27 with 6GB/128GB; A37 with either 6GB/128GB or 8GB/256GB; and A57 with 8GB paired with either 128GB or 256GB.
Choose a card-capable model if you keep a large offline music, video or photo library and want to add capacity later. Choose a higher internal-storage configuration if you prefer faster, simpler storage management or intend to keep the phone for years without relying on removable media. Check whether the exact regional package includes the same memory option: Samsung’s table is not a promise that every carrier or country stocks every configuration.
There is a specific regional discrepancy to watch. Samsung’s US product page displayed up to 1TB for the A17 and A26, whereas the support comparison lists up to 2TB for A17 and A27. Preserve the model and page context when quoting an expansion limit; the local product page for the phone you are buying should take precedence.

Cameras and video: what actually changes up the range
Each model has a 50MP main rear camera, but the supporting cameras and recording modes separate the tiers. A17 and A27 are listed with a 5MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro camera. A37 raises those supporting specifications to 8MP ultra-wide and 5MP macro, while A57 lists a 12MP ultra-wide and 5MP macro. A57 therefore has the strongest camera specification in Samsung’s comparison, particularly for the ultra-wide camera.
The A17 is listed for FHD recording at 30fps. A27, A37 and A57 are listed for UHD 4K recording at 30fps. The A17 also has a 13MP front camera; the other three list 12MP front cameras. These figures describe resolution and supported modes, not a tested ranking of detail, dynamic range, autofocus or stabilization.
If you mainly photograph people or standard scenes, the main-camera resolution alone does not tell you which phone will produce the best result. If you frequently fit landscapes or groups into a frame, the ultra-wide specification is the more relevant differentiator. If you edit or crop video, confirm that the regional firmware retains the advertised 4K mode and check how much storage your recording habit requires.

Samsung lists a 5,000mAh battery for A17, A27, A37 and A57. Capacity is therefore shared across this comparison, and it is not a reason by itself to pay more. Charging is different: A17 and A27 are listed for up to 25W wired charging, while A37 and A57 are listed for up to 45W.

None of the four models in Samsung’s comparison supports wireless charging or PowerShare. A faster wired limit can reduce the time needed for a top-up when you have a compatible charger, but real charging time depends on the charger, cable, temperature, battery level and regional package. Samsung’s maximum figures are not a guarantee that a charger is included in every box.
US price context—and why it is not a global ranking
Samsung’s US lineup page showed the following starting prices in its 2026 page state:

These are US page values, not worldwide recommended prices. Promotions, trade-in credits, carrier financing, storage configurations and inventory can change the amount you actually pay. The page did not show A27 alongside those models, so there is no responsible US price to infer for it from this table.
Software, updates and advertised AI features
Samsung’s US product-family page says its devices receive six years of security and software updates. Samsung’s March 25, 2026 announcement says A57 and A37 receive up to six generations of operating-system upgrades and long-term security support. “Six years” and “up to six generations” are Samsung’s commitments for the stated page and models; they should not be read as a published schedule for a particular future Android release.

The 2026 support comparison lists Gemini and Circle to Search on A17, A27, A37 and A57. It lists Object Eraser, AI Select, My Filters and Edit Suggestion on A27, A37 and A57, with some features limited on A27 and A37. Best Face and Auto Trim are identified as A57-only in that comparison. Availability can depend on software version, market, language and configuration.
In its March announcement, Samsung says A57 and A37 run One UI 8.5 and highlights Voice Transcription, AI Select, Object Eraser, Circle to Search and Gemini-related capabilities. These are Samsung’s advertised functions, not independent tests of their accuracy or usefulness. Samsung CEO and DX Division head TM Roh described the phones this way: “With Samsung’s fundamental capabilities combined with enriched Awesome Intelligence, Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G will deliver reliable everyday performance to users around the world and drive rapid AI expansion.” That is an official product statement, not a benchmark result.
Which Galaxy A-series model fits which buyer?
Choose the A17 when price and expandable storage come first
The A17 is the entry choice in Samsung’s comparison. It combines the lowest listed memory configuration, the lower refresh rate, 25W charging and FHD video with a card slot. It makes sense for messaging, web use, streaming and ordinary photography when you want to keep the purchase price down or add storage later.

The A27 keeps the card slot and 25W charging but moves to the 120Hz class and adds 4K/30fps recording. It is the logical step up for someone who values smoother scrolling or higher-resolution video while still wanting removable storage. Confirm that it is actually sold in your market before planning a purchase around it.
Choose the A37 for faster charging and a higher-tier configuration
The A37 trades away microSD expansion for 45W wired charging, a choice of 8GB/256GB in its listed configurations, and higher-resolution supporting cameras than A17 and A27. It suits buyers who keep their files internally and value quicker wired top-ups or more flexible storage at purchase.
Choose the A57 for the top listed A-series specification
The A57 adds the Super AMOLED Plus designation, 8GB memory in both listed storage options, the 12MP ultra-wide and the A57-only Best Face and Auto Trim entries in Samsung’s comparison. It shares the A37’s 45W charging and lack of a card slot. Whether its higher price is worthwhile depends on how much you value those specific differences, not on a claim that every aspect of performance is better.
A practical checklist before you buy
- Identify the exact regional model. Read the local Samsung product page, model code and carrier listing; do not rely on a global A-series list.
- Confirm storage strategy. Select A17 or A27 if microSD expansion is essential, or choose the required internal capacity on A37 or A57.
- Match the display and video priorities. A17 is the only 90Hz/FHD-video entry in the comparison; the other listed models use 120Hz panels, and A27 upward list 4K/30fps.
- Check charging equipment. Verify the phone’s supported wattage, the charger supplied in your market and whether you already own a compatible adapter.
- Verify software features locally. AI functions can vary by firmware, language, market and account requirements, even when Samsung lists them for the family.
- Compare the final transaction price. Include storage variant, tax, carrier conditions, trade-in credits and warranty region rather than comparing headline starting prices alone.
For the most reliable comparison, save the specification page for the exact model code you intend to purchase. Samsung’s own differing page sets and expansion limits demonstrate why a model name without a market and configuration is incomplete.
