Samsung announced on October 14, 2026, that Hungarian and Malay are being added to Call Assist, Note Assist, Interpreter and Transcript Assist. The expansion brings those Galaxy AI experiences—including Live Translate—to a headline total of 24 supported languages, while Now Nudge also reaches 24 and Bixby expands to 12.
What Samsung added
The update is not a single language switch for every Galaxy feature. Each experience has its own support list and rollout schedule.

Which Galaxy AI tools support Hungarian and Malay?
Both Hungarian and Malay are being added to Call Assist, Note Assist, Interpreter and Transcript Assist. That includes Live Translate for supported calls. They are not, based on Samsung’s announcement, additions to Bixby’s language list; Bixby’s separate expansion is Polish, Thai and Vietnamese.

Does Live Translate work in Malay?
Samsung says Malay is coming to the Galaxy AI experiences that include Call Assist and Live Translate. In practice, Live Translate still requires a supported Galaxy phone, an eligible calling scenario and availability in the user’s country or region. Samsung’s 24-language headline should therefore be read as an overall feature total, not as a promise that every tool supports Malay on every device.

Now Nudge gains eight languages in this announcement: Dutch, Filipino, Gujarati, Hungarian, Malay, Romanian, Swedish and Turkish. Its job differs from translation tools: it examines the current screen and proposes a useful next action. A language being available in Now Nudge does not automatically mean it is available in Interpreter, Live Translate or Bixby.

Bixby adds Polish, Thai and Vietnamese
Bixby’s new language support starts rolling out on October 14, 2026. The additions raise Bixby’s total to 12 languages. Users can issue natural-language requests to control supported phone settings and functions, but the exact commands and supported actions can vary by device, software version and region.

Samsung says the Galaxy AI additions will follow in the coming weeks, so there is no single worldwide release time for Hungarian and Malay or the other Galaxy AI languages. Rollout timing can differ by country, carrier and model. Some users may also need to download a language pack through Settings before a newly supported language appears.

What to check on your phone
- Install the latest software update offered for your Galaxy device.
- Open the relevant Galaxy AI feature and check its language selector.
- If the language is listed but unavailable, look in Settings for a downloadable language pack and install it over Wi-Fi or mobile data.
- Confirm that your country, carrier and Galaxy model are supported; language availability can be narrower than the headline total.
Device and privacy considerations
Galaxy AI availability depends on the model, language, country or region and carrier. Some functions may process information on the device while others can require network access, so the settings and data requirements shown on a particular phone are the controlling information.
Using Interpreter with Galaxy Buds
Samsung documents Galaxy Buds3 Pro as compatible with Galaxy AI Interpreter and Live Translate when paired with a compatible Galaxy phone. The earbuds can play the interpreted conversation audio, but they do not provide Interpreter by themselves. Compatibility and language support still depend on the paired phone, software and region. Current retail availability and pricing are not established by this announcement.

What the expansion means
The practical change is broader access for speakers of Hungarian, Malay and the other newly listed languages, but the rollout is deliberately staged. Check the individual feature’s language menu rather than relying on the 24-language figure, and verify model and regional support before planning a call, meeting or trip around a translation function.

Are Hungarian and Malay available in every Galaxy AI feature?
