There is no single thermostat location that applies to every Samsung dryer. A high-limit thermostat or thermal cutoff may be mounted on the heater housing, while a thermistor or another thermal fuse can sit elsewhere. Start with your dryer’s complete model number and its matching Samsung repair guide or parts diagram before opening the appliance or ordering a part.
Why “thermostat” can mean different parts
Samsung parts listings distinguish several components that can be confused in casual conversation:

- High-limit thermostat: A heater-related safety component shown in some Samsung heater-duct assemblies.
- Thermal cutoff or thermal fuse: A separate safety part; a dryer may have more than one, and the name used in a listing can vary.
- Thermistor: A temperature sensor, not the same part as a thermostat or fuse.
A heater-duct diagram can show a high-limit thermostat, thermal cutoff fuse, bracket, and heater as distinct items. Samsung’s catalog also lists different thermistors, thermal cutoff parts, and high-limit thermostats. High-limit thermostat and heater thermal cutoff
On some designs, heater-related safety components are attached to or associated with the heater housing or duct. The diagram for your specific dryer is needed to confirm their exact mounting points.

Thermistor
A thermistor is a separate temperature sensor and may be accessed elsewhere in the dryer assembly. A service-manual transcription for selected Samsung models describes unplugging the dryer and removing a screw from the drum-back assembly to access the thermistor. One model-specific example
A Samsung Community contributor describing the DV328AEW/XAA reported a thermistor and nearby 85°C/185°F thermal fuse, a high-limit thermostat on the heater housing, and a 160°C/320°F thermal cutoff at the other end of that housing. How to find the correct location for your dryer
- Find the complete model number. Read it from the appliance label; do not rely on the product family name alone.
- Search Samsung Support for that model. Open its model-specific support page and look for the repair guide or user documentation. Samsung’s support listings associate repair guides with named models, rather than establishing one guide for every dryer. Samsung Germany support: DV90T5240AW · Samsung UK support: DV90DB7845GE
- Open the matching parts diagram. Find the heater, duct, or other relevant assembly and locate the specific entry: thermistor, high-limit thermostat, thermal cutoff, or thermal fuse.
- Match the part number to both the model and component name. Do not assume that a part listed for another Samsung dryer fits yours.
- Stop if the diagram or procedure is unclear. Use the model-specific guide or arrange qualified service rather than guessing which part to remove.
Safety before inspecting or replacing a part
Disconnect the dryer from power before servicing it and follow the repair procedure for the exact model. The cited service-manual excerpt specifically instructs users to unplug before thermistor removal; it does not provide a universal disassembly procedure for all Samsung dryers.
