The company described network automation, satellite connectivity, sensing and physical AI, and showed demonstrations developed with operator and research partners.
The event followed Partner Day at Samsung Research America on October 14 and brought together more than 100 participants from telecommunications operators, equipment manufacturers, government agencies and universities. Samsung’s announcements were company-reported; they did not establish a commercial 6G deployment date, consumer availability, final standards or independent performance benchmarks.

What Samsung presented at the 2026 summit
The summit was organized around three headline sessions:
- AI-Native 6G Networks: how artificial intelligence can become part of network architecture and operations rather than a separate analytics layer.
- Taking 6G to Space With NTN: non-terrestrial networks (NTN), including low-Earth-orbit satellite links and the 3GPP standards roadmaps needed to integrate them with terrestrial systems.
- Connecting the Physical and Digital Worlds: Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC) and physical AI, which use wireless infrastructure to perceive physical spaces and connect those observations to digital services.
Samsung Executive Vice President Jinguk Jeong, who leads the Advanced Communications Research Center at Samsung Research, said: “Together, 6G and AI-native technologies represent the next step in telecommunications, bringing people closer together than ever before.”

What “AI-native 6G” means
In Samsung’s framing, AI-native does not simply mean adding a chatbot or an optimization dashboard to a conventional cellular network. AI is intended to participate in decisions throughout the network, including radio access, resource allocation, traffic management and operational control. Software can observe changing conditions, select adjustments and automate actions that previously required manual engineering or fixed rules.
The radio access network (RAN) is a central target because it must continually balance coverage, capacity, interference, energy use and user demand. An AI-native RAN could use live network data to adapt those trade-offs across multiple layers. That approach is also intended to improve operational efficiency as networks become more heterogeneous, with terrestrial cells, satellite links, sensing functions and new spectrum bands working together.

Demonstrations and field validation
AI-RAN
Samsung and its partners demonstrated AI-RAN, the use of artificial intelligence to manage and optimize radio access network functions. Samsung said its validation covered AI-enabled RAN performance across all layers. The announcement did not publish test configurations, baseline networks, numerical gains or an independent assessment, so the demonstrations should be read as development evidence rather than a comparative benchmark.

The demonstrations also included eXtreme Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (X-MIMO) and Distributed MIMO (D-MIMO). Both approaches are aimed at using coordinated antenna and radio resources to improve how signals reach users, especially in difficult propagation conditions. Samsung presented them alongside AI-RAN as components of a more adaptive 6G radio system, not as separately announced consumer products.

7 GHz candidate-band transmission
Samsung reported transmission tests in the 7 GHz candidate 6G band. It also cited validation of user experience at cell boundaries, where a device is near the edge of a serving cell and interference, handovers and weak signal conditions can become more difficult. The report identifies the band and test focus but does not provide throughput, latency, range or methodology that would allow readers to compare the result with another system.
ISAC using base-station infrastructure
Integrated Sensing and Communications was another demonstrated capability. ISAC reuses wireless transmissions and base-station infrastructure for sensing as well as data communication, allowing a network to detect characteristics of an environment while it serves connected devices. Samsung said it conducted ISAC field validation with Verizon at a major international soccer fan event in Dallas, illustrating a crowded, dynamic setting rather than a laboratory-only scenario.

Satellites, sensing and physical AI
The NTN session connected future terrestrial networks with low-Earth-orbit satellite communications. Samsung discussed 3GPP satellite standards roadmaps, which are important because interoperable specifications determine how devices, satellites and ground networks can exchange traffic. The summit did not announce a satellite service for consumers or a launch schedule.
Samsung’s physical-AI discussion extends ISAC beyond network engineering. A system that can sense movement, occupancy or other properties of a physical space could feed industrial, public-event or other digital services. Those applications remain a development direction in the announcement; no product lineup, deployment geography or performance target was specified.

The operator and research ecosystem
Samsung named collaboration with the following organizations:
- LG U+
- Verizon
- NTT DOCOMO
- KDDI Research
- KT
- SK Telecom
- SoftBank
Samsung said it had begun collaboration with LG U+ and separately highlighted the Verizon ISAC validation in Dallas. The breadth of the list is significant because 6G capabilities require coordination among network operators, infrastructure suppliers, standards groups and academic researchers before they can become deployable services.
How the 2026 summit follows Samsung’s earlier events
| Summit | Theme | Participants | AI role and demonstrations | Use cases or ecosystem named |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 | “Future Wireless for the AI Era” | Approximately 80 | AI applied to RAN to optimize spectral and energy efficiency | AI-native communication, sustainable 6G energy efficiency and architecture beyond 5G; specific partners not stated |
| 2025 | “Unlocking New Possibilities with AI-Centric Networks” | Approximately 100 | Partner-built AI-RAN equipment autonomously made decisions and adjustments intended to optimize network quality | AI-driven services, AI radio innovation and AI network innovation; specific partners not stated |
| 2026 | AI-native 6G focus at the Silicon Valley Future Wireless Summit | More than 100 | AI-RAN, X-MIMO, D-MIMO and ISAC, with company-reported validation across RAN layers, in the 7 GHz candidate band and at cell boundaries | NTN satellite communications, ISAC, physical AI and partnerships including Verizon, LG U+, NTT DOCOMO, KDDI Research, KT, SK Telecom and SoftBank |
The progression shows Samsung moving from applying AI to specific RAN efficiency problems in 2024, through autonomous AI-centric network behavior in 2025, toward an AI-native 6G architecture that also includes satellites and sensing in 2026.

What Samsung did not announce
- No 6G phone: the summit was an enterprise and research event, not a handset launch.
- No consumer rollout date: Samsung gave no timetable for commercial 6G service or compatible devices.
- No final 6G standard: references to 3GPP roadmaps and candidate spectrum do not mean standardization is complete.
- No independent benchmark: all stated demonstration and validation results came from Samsung’s announcements, without published comparative methodology.
- No pricing or deployment commitment: the material did not establish costs, market availability or production plans for AI-RAN, NTN or ISAC systems.
What to watch next
The practical test for Samsung’s vision will be whether operator trials turn these demonstrations into interoperable, measurable systems. Key milestones include progress in 3GPP NTN specifications, regulatory decisions affecting the 7 GHz candidate band, repeatable third-party testing of AI-RAN and ISAC, and evidence that automated decisions improve service without creating reliability, security or energy-management problems. Until those steps occur, the summit is best understood as a roadmap and partnership signal for future wireless infrastructure, not a product announcement.
