The browser lets you view synced data and backup information, but it does not let you download a device backup as individual files. To recover that backup, restore it to a compatible Galaxy device.
How to access Samsung Cloud from a computer
- Open Samsung Cloud in a browser. Samsung’s Canada support page directs users to this address; Samsung’s U.S. instructions refer to the Samsung Cloud website.
- Sign in with the Samsung account used on your Galaxy device.
- Complete two-step verification if prompted. Depending on your account setup, this may mean entering a code or approving a notification on a Galaxy device.
- Use the available sections to review synced data and device backup information.
If sign-in fails, use the account-recovery options presented in the sign-in flow and check that you can access the registered verification method. Menu names and available features can vary by market, carrier, device, and software version.

What you can—and cannot—do in the browser
Samsung Cloud’s computer access is primarily for viewing synced data and backup details. Samsung’s Canada support article, “Access your device backups in Samsung Cloud,” says backups cannot be downloaded individually and that recovery requires syncing the data to a compatible device. Samsung Australia likewise describes the browser as a way to see which data types are included; the backed-up content must be restored on a Galaxy device.

Samsung Cloud, OneDrive, and Smart Switch: which should you use?

How to get photos and videos onto your computer
Check whether the media is already in OneDrive
Samsung distinguishes Gallery media from Samsung Cloud device backups: its U.S. support article says Gallery photos and videos cannot be backed up to Samsung Cloud and points users to Microsoft OneDrive for Gallery syncing. If your files are already in OneDrive, open OneDrive in a computer browser, sign in to the Microsoft account holding the files, select the files or folders, and choose Download. When you select multiple items, OneDrive may download them as a ZIP file.
Check the Gallery sync transition before relying on it
Samsung’s U.S. Gallery support page stated that Gallery sync with OneDrive would end on September 30, 2026, and that media already synced would remain in OneDrive and could be viewed in the OneDrive app. That announced date has passed. The page does not establish the live post-transition status for every market or device, so check the current sync settings in your Galaxy Gallery app and confirm the files are present in the Microsoft account before relying on new uploads or assuming older files transferred.

Keep a separate local copy if needed
After downloading files from OneDrive, you can copy them to an external drive as an optional second local copy. The drive is not needed to access Samsung Cloud or OneDrive, and it cannot open a Samsung Cloud device backup directly.

Can you restore a Samsung Cloud backup without your phone?
Not through the Samsung Cloud browser. Samsung’s support guidance requires restoring backed-up device content to a compatible Galaxy device; the website does not expose the backup as separate downloadable files. If you have access to another compatible Galaxy device, sign in with the same Samsung account and use its restore options. Smart Switch is a separate computer-assisted backup and restore method, not a way to browse Samsung Cloud backups in a browser.

Protect access to older cloud data
Samsung Canada states that data unused for more than 12 months may be deleted after advance notice. Treat account notices as time-sensitive, and check Samsung’s current terms for your region rather than assuming old cloud data will remain indefinitely.
