Portrait of God, Dylan Clark’s horror short about a religious girl whose school presentation on a painting challenges her beliefs, is being adapted into a feature film. Lionsgate acquired the project from Universal, with Chase Infiniti attached to star, Clark set to direct, and Sam Raimi and Jordan Peele producing, according to TheWrap.
What is Portrait of God about?
The short’s premise is spare: “A religious girl prepares a presentation about a painting titled ‘Portrait of God.’ What she sees challenges her beliefs.” The feature is based on that short, but the reported account does not provide an expanded plot or explain how the story will develop into a feature-length film.

Who is making the feature?
- Dylan Clark: He will direct and co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Russo.
- Chase Infiniti: She is attached to star.
- Sam Raimi and Jordan Peele: They are producers, through Ghost House and Monkeypaw Productions, respectively—not directors of this film.
TheWrap’s October 1, 2026 report also names Rob Tapert, Win Rosenfeld and other production personnel. Raimi’s association with Evil Dead and Peele’s with Get Out helps explain the headline’s references, but Portrait of God is not reported as a sequel to either film.

The project had previously been lined up by Universal before Lionsgate acquired it, TheWrap reported. The announcement identifies Lionsgate as the studio acquiring the feature project; it does not establish a release date or say that production has begun.
#1 Best Overall
Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson described the team as having “all the ingredients for a film that is haunting, thought-provoking, and scary as hell.” That is the studio executive’s promotional assessment, not a review of a completed film.
Clark said he was pleased that the project had found a home at Lionsgate and welcomed Infiniti to the team. He also praised her performance in One Battle After Another. These comments are attributed to Clark in TheWrap’s report.
