The recommendation is about each product’s stated function; no controlled PREPi-versus-spinner test is available.

Salad spinner: remove rinse water from leaves
A salad spinner is purpose-built for getting water off washed greens. Choose its capacity based on the batches you usually wash, and consider storage height, cleaning and whether you want a bowl or colander that can serve another purpose. Food Network’s review, updated June 3, 2026, says it purchased and tested 12 salad spinners, including tests with mixed greens and cilantro, and names the OXO Good Grips Large 6.22-Quart Salad Spinner its overall pick. Ninja PREPi: prepare and store ingredients
SharkNinja describes PREPi PN301 as a 500-watt prep-and-store system with 5-cup and 7-cup bowls, storage lids, a chop-and-purée blade, a reversible slice-and-shred disc and a crinkle disc. The PN351 configuration adds a dicing kit. These are processing and storage functions; the manufacturer’s description does not list washing or drying greens. Which should you choose?
- Choose a salad spinner when the goal is to remove rinse water from lettuce, herbs or other leafy greens. Food Network’s OXO pick is a reasonable general-purpose starting point based on its review.
- Consider a collapsible spinner if cupboard space is tight. Food Network lists the Progressive Prepworks Collapsible 4-Quart model, while reporting that it took longer to dry greens in its testing than other models in the review.
- Consider a multi-use spinner if you also want a colander and serving bowl. Brabantia describes its Tasty+ as all three, and its US product page lists a five-year warranty. See Brabantia’s Tasty+ product page.
- Choose PREPi for food preparation and storage if its chopping, slicing, shredding, puréeing or dicing functions suit your kitchen. Those functions may help prepare salad ingredients, but they do not make it a documented substitute for a spinner’s greens-drying job.
Why this is not a direct performance comparison
The available sources establish different intended functions, not which machine performs better at the same task. SharkNinja’s PREPi description does not claim that it washes or dries greens, and Food Network’s spinner testing does not compare any spinner with PREPi. So the practical answer follows task fit: use a spinner to remove rinse water; use PREPi for the preparation jobs its attachments are designed to do.
