You can personalize Marvel Rivals safely by staying inside the game’s own settings: use hero-specific reticles, graphics and input controls, HUD options, language and privacy menus, and supported display modes. Do not install skin packs, texture swaps, injectors, file edits, or other client modifications. NetEase’s published rules prohibit unauthorized configuration changes, graphics-related .ini edits, unfair visual resources, and illicit third-party tools; penalties can include removal from the game.
The safe boundary: customize what the client exposes
The practical dividing line is whether a change is offered as a normal in-game option. If you can reach it through Settings, the HUD or hero-customization menus, it is part of the supported client. If it requires replacing a game asset, editing a configuration file, injecting code into memory or running a separate utility, it falls outside that boundary.

NetEase’s Prohibited Software & Hardware List for Marvel Rivals (2025) identifies unauthorized configuration edits, graphics .ini changes and unfair visual resources as prohibited. Its 2026 enforcement notices also warn that some mods use memory injection or similar methods to interfere with the game engine and can trigger anti-cheat. A cosmetic appearance does not make that mechanism safe.
The supported options below let you improve readability and comfort without changing the files that define the game.

Set a different reticle for each hero
A reticle is the most flexible built-in customization because it can be changed without touching a file and saved for individual heroes. Shape, size, color and reticle behavior affect how easily you can see the aiming point against effects and map surfaces; they do not guarantee better accuracy or skill.
- Pause the match or return to the main menu. Open Settings.
- Choose your input category. Select Controller or Keyboard, matching the device you use to play.
- Open the HUD controls. Go to Combat > HUD. This is where the reticle editor is located.
- Adjust the reticle. Change the available type, shape, size, color and related options. If the editor exposes reticle animation, alter that as well and check whether movement makes the sight easier or harder to read.
- Save the preset. Use Save Reticle rather than leaving the page without saving. Create separate presets when different heroes or weapon styles need different visual anchors.
- Assign it to the intended hero. Use the hero selector to attach the saved reticle preset to that character. Recheck the assignment after changing heroes so you do not accidentally test the wrong profile.
PC reticle codes
On PC, the reticle editor can import shared reticle codes. Importing a code is still an in-game action; it does not require a file injector or a modified client. After importing, inspect the resulting shape, color and size, then save it and test it in the Practice Range. A code that looks clear in a screenshot may disappear against a particular map or effect layer.
Console reticle setup
Console players must enter the values manually because code importing is not available there. Use the same Settings > Controller > Combat > HUD path, set each value, and save the preset. Manual entry takes longer but remains within the supported interface.

Choose a shape for the weapon, not a promise of performance
Published reticle guidance commonly treats a larger circle as a useful starting point for melee or area-of-effect heroes and a small, precise reticle as a starting point for precision weapons. Those are usability suggestions, not measured performance results. Try both styles in the Practice Range, where you can watch the reticle over bright backgrounds, dark surfaces and heavy ability effects before taking it into a match.
Tune graphics through the normal settings
Marvel Rivals exposes several rendering controls in its graphics menu. The 20250110 patch notes list controls for anti-aliasing, model detail, global illumination and reflection quality, along with other quality and performance options. Changing these values through the menu is different from editing a graphics .ini file: the former is a client-supported choice, while the latter is specifically identified in NetEase’s prohibited list.
Make one change at a time
- Change one graphics setting, apply it, and observe the result in the same location or Practice Range scenario.
- Use anti-aliasing and model-detail controls to balance edge clarity against the workload placed on the system.
- Check global illumination and reflection quality when visual effects make characters or projectiles difficult to distinguish.
- Keep a short note of the values that feel readable so you can restore them after a patch or driver change.
The available menu does not turn every adjustment into a competitive advantage. A setting that makes a scene clearer for one player can reduce contrast or performance for another. Treat the menu as a controlled way to find a stable, readable image rather than as a shortcut to improved aim.

Adjust mouse behavior without external utilities
Keyboard users can find mouse smoothing and mouse acceleration controls under Keyboard > Combat. These options are part of the game’s input settings, so there is no need for a macro utility, injector or operating-system workaround.
Change the controls deliberately and test the result in the Practice Range. Smoothing can alter how immediate movement feels, while acceleration changes how far the view moves for different hand speeds. Because these are preference-sensitive settings, the useful result is a repeatable response that feels predictable to you, not a universally correct value. Do not combine them with scripts or macros; NetEase lists those tools among prohibited or illicit software.
Improve readability without overlays or injectors
When visual effects are the problem, start with the reticle and supported graphics controls rather than adding an overlay. A high-contrast reticle color is often easier to follow than a color that blends into the map. Increase size only as far as needed: an oversized marker can obscure a target, while a tiny one can vanish during an ultimate ability. Reticle shape and animation can also be changed, so compare a static-looking option with an animated one in the Practice Range.

- Test the reticle against both light and dark surfaces.
- Watch it while several effects are active, not only in an empty training area.
- Verify that the reticle remains visible while moving and turning.
- Save a hero-specific preset only after checking the weapon or ability you actually use.
Do not use a crosshair overlay, visibility filter, texture replacement or injector to force extra contrast. Even if the result appears cosmetic, it changes presentation outside the supported controls and can be treated as a prohibited visual modification.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Use a compatible display for supported 120 FPS mode
The official FAQ states that PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X support a stable 120 FPS mode when connected to a display compatible with HDMI 2.1 and a 120 Hz refresh rate. This is the clearest hardware-based customization path in the available guidance: you are changing the display environment, not the game client.
- Confirm that your console model is PS5, PS5 Pro or Xbox Series X.
- Check the display specification for a 120 Hz refresh rate and HDMI 2.1 compatibility.
- Check the cable and the specific HDMI port used, because the display and connection must support the required mode together.
- Enable the console and game display options normally, then verify that 120 FPS mode is available.
A monitor purchase is optional and conditional on this compatibility. The documented requirement does not establish that a particular brand, panel type or monitor size improves aim, and it does not apply automatically to every platform or display.

Mods and tools that cross the line
NetEase’s rules and enforcement notices cover more than conventional cheats. Avoid any package that changes the game’s resources or inserts itself into the running client, including:
- Skin, texture, model, audio, recoil, camera-shake or visibility modifications.
- Graphics or other client
.iniedits made outside the in-game settings. .asifiles, memory-injection tools, unmount blockers and injectors.- Cheat engines, scripts, macros and illicit third-party utilities.
- Launch-parameter claims that promise to disable or bypass anti-cheat.
NetEase says its anti-cheat launches concurrently with the game client and cannot be disabled independently. It also says that violating mods can trigger anti-cheat and that a lifted suspension does not mean the associated mod is permitted. A warning from a mod manager is not permission from the game operator; the reliable safe boundary is the client’s own supported settings and official rules.
If you already installed a mod
Stop using it before launching the game again. Close the client, remove the violating third-party files and tools, and do not leave .asi files, injectors or memory-editing utilities active in the game’s process. NetEase specifically advises players to stop and delete mods that can interfere with the engine. Do not try to conceal a modification with another tool or a launch argument, because that adds another prohibited mechanism.

A practical no-mod customization checklist
- Open the reticle editor at Settings > Controller or Keyboard > Combat > HUD.
- Set a readable shape, color and size, then use Save Reticle.
- Assign presets through the hero selector; import a code only through the PC editor, or enter values manually on console.
- Use the graphics menu for anti-aliasing, model detail, global illumination and reflection quality.
- Use Keyboard > Combat for mouse smoothing and mouse acceleration instead of an external utility.
- Test changes in the Practice Range against different backgrounds and effects.
- For PS5, PS5 Pro or Xbox Series X 120 FPS mode, verify HDMI 2.1 and 120 Hz compatibility before buying a display.
- Reject any package that edits files, injects memory, replaces resources or claims to disable anti-cheat.
Bottom line
The safest way to make Marvel Rivals feel more personal is also the simplest: use the reticle, HUD, graphics, input and supported display settings that the game already provides. They give you meaningful control over readability and comfort without entering the prohibited territory of modified resources, configuration files, injectors or scripts.
