Its launch coverage describes possible signposts in places players already encounter, including game launch screens, menus, in-game events and community spaces. These are suggested ways to surface support—not evidence that the options have been widely adopted or that any one placement is effective.
What is the Four Billion Players campaign?
Four Billion Players is a campaign from gaming mental-health charity Safe In Our World. Its central request is for the games industry to make routes to mental-health information more visible, rather than expecting players to seek them out on their own.

The campaign’s name refers to a projection that the global player base will exceed four billion by 2029, as reported in launch coverage. The coverage does not identify the projection’s original publisher, methodology or definition of “player,” so the figure should be understood as the campaign’s reported framing, not an independently verified count. GameDev.net’s 8 October 2026 launch report and WN Hub’s related coverage both describe the campaign.
How could games make support easier to find?
Launch coverage gives several examples of signposting. They are implementation options, not a universal design standard or proof of clinical benefit.
#1 Best Overall
- Compatible with Windows and Android.
- 1000Hz Polling Rate (for 2.4G and wired connection)
- Hall Effect joysticks and Hall triggers. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings.
- Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.
- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.
| Placement | Possible use described in launch coverage | What it does—and does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Launch or splash screen | Highlight Safe In Our World or a route to its resources when a game starts. | Makes a signpost visible at startup; the sources do not establish how often players would see or use it. |
| Game menu | Link to the charity’s free mental-health resources. | Offers an in-game route to information; the sources do not specify a required menu location or usability standard. |
| In-game event or item | Use a charity-related event or item to draw attention to mental-health support. | Connects awareness to game content; the sources do not report adoption or outcomes. |
| Community space | Signpost support in spaces where players gather. | Can put information near community interaction; the sources do not detail moderation or safeguarding procedures. |
The point of these examples is visibility: a support route can be presented in a context players already use. The launch coverage does not compare these placements for reach, safety, usability or effectiveness, and it does not set out campaign participation terms or an implementation checklist.
What do the reported figures say about Safe In Our World?
Launch coverage also gives background figures attributed to the charity. They are secondary reports, and the articles do not establish the underlying data, measurement periods or, for the network figure, a measurement date.

- WN Hub reports a network of over 200 people across 15 countries, without defining the network or giving a measurement date.
These totals describe reported activity; they do not by themselves show that the campaign’s suggested placements have been adopted or caused a particular outcome. The campaign coverage describes awareness and signposting to resources, not clinical care, crisis response or emergency services.
What game companies should clarify before adding a signpost
For a developer, publisher or platform considering the campaign’s idea, the practical decision is where a player can encounter a signpost and what it leads to. The examples point to screens, menus, game content and community spaces, but the reports do not prescribe one option for every game.

- With broad game support, the Logitech Gamepad F310 works with old standbys to today's biggest titles, so it's easy to set up and use with your favorite games.
- Profiler software allows the gamepad to be programmed to perform keyboard and mouse commands for games without gamepad support.* * Requires software installation.
- A familiar control layout that doesn't require a learning curve to be able to use, with all the same buttons as on an Xbox 360.
- The unique floating D-pad rests on four switches-instead of a single pivot point-making it responsive to quick changes in direction.
- The six-foot cord lets you lean back and play a comfortable distance from your PC monitor.
- Make the destination clear: a signpost should tell players whether it leads to information or support resources.
- Check that the linked resource is appropriate for the audience and location. The launch reports do not specify regional availability or detailed safeguarding procedures.
- Do not present an awareness link as a substitute for clinical care or emergency help; those services are not described as part of the campaign.
For campaign participation details, organisations should contact Safe In Our World directly: the two launch reports do not state current registration mechanics or formal terms.
