Both cards have 16GB of memory, and a dated October 2026 US price snapshot put them at nearly the same price. Choose based on current checkout cost, your games and settings, and whether your system can accommodate the exact card.

AMD announced the RX 9070 XT with 64 compute units, 16GB GDDR6, a 256-bit interface and 304W total board power, with availability beginning March 6, 2025. Those are launch specifications, not a guarantee that every board partner’s card has the same power draw or physical dimensions. AMD’s launch announcement gives the original specifications and pricing.

The RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is a distinct model from the 8GB version. When shopping, verify that the listing says 16GB; the benchmark evidence and comparison here concern that configuration. Tom’s Hardware’s April 2025 review covers the 16GB card and notes the importance of actual retail availability and price.
Which card is faster for gaming?
In the cited gaming comparisons, the RX 9070 XT leads, but the size of the gap depends on the title, resolution and settings. TechSpot tested the two cards across 52 games; that broad comparison is more useful than treating a result from one game as a universal ranking. TechSpot’s comparison reports individual results under named conditions.

Examples from TechSpot’s tests
- Fortnite Performance Mode: at 1440p, TechSpot reported the RX 9070 XT 14% faster; at 4K, the lead was 30%.
- Fortnite Epic Quality with ray tracing: at 1440p, the reported results were 120 fps for the RX 9070 XT and 78 fps for the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. At 4K, they were 66 fps and 44 fps, respectively.
- Forza Horizon 6, 1440p Extreme rasterized settings: the RX 9070 XT recorded 140 fps against 85 fps for the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB.
- Forza Horizon 6 with ray tracing: at 1440p, TechSpot reported 75 fps versus 42 fps; at 4K, where both cards struggled, it reported 43 fps versus 24 fps.
These are results from TechSpot’s test setup and specified game settings, not promised frame rates for another PC. Check independent benchmarks for the games and quality settings you actually use.
How do they compare in ray tracing?
The RX 9070 XT also ranks above the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB in Tom’s Hardware’s 2026 aggregate ray-tracing hierarchy at the resolutions shown. The figures below are that outlet’s suite results: the percentage is relative to the hierarchy’s fastest entry, and the fps figure is its reported average. They describe one benchmark suite, not every ray-traced game.

- Axial-tech fans now feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal heat transfer, lowering GPU temperatures for enhanced performance and reliability
- 2.5-slot design allows for greater build compatibility while maintaining cooling performance
- Dual-ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as standard conventional sleeve bearings designs
- 0dB technology lets you enjoy light gaming in relative silence
| Resolution, Ultra | RX 9070 XT | RTX 5060 Ti 16GB |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p | 61.9% (77.8 fps) | 44.7% (56.2 fps) |
| 1440p | 55.1% (55.5 fps) | 38.6% (38.9 fps) |
| 4K | 47.0% (30.1 fps) | 32.1% (20.6 fps) |
Tom’s Hardware’s 2026 GPU hierarchy supports a lead for the RX 9070 XT in its tested ray-tracing suite. It does not establish that AMD wins every game or that performance will match in a particular title.
Which is the better value at current prices?
Use the price at your own checkout, not either card’s launch context. AMD’s $599 figure was the RX 9070 XT’s suggested etail price at launch in February 2025; it is not evidence of a current offer. In a US snapshot published October 1, 2026 and accessed October 5, PC Gamer listed Amazon offers of $790.22 for the RX 9070 XT and $788.50 for the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. Those seller-specific listings are volatile and are not guaranteed checkout prices. PC Gamer’s graphics-card price tracker shows why current seller and stock matter.

- Axial-tech fans now feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure

- 2.5-slot design allows for greater build compatibility while maintaining cooling performance

At roughly equal prices, the cited gaming tests favor the RX 9070 XT for game performance. That does not settle value for every buyer: a different local price, a particular game, your power and case constraints, or a non-gaming workload can change the decision. The cited gaming comparisons do not establish which card is better for creator software or AI workloads.

- Check your actual prices. Compare the exact board-partner models from sellers you would buy from, including delivery and tax at checkout. Recheck availability before deciding; the October 2026 snapshot is only a point-in-time reference.
- Match benchmarks to your games. Look for results for your titles at your target resolution and image-quality settings. Separate rasterized performance from ray tracing rather than relying on one blended score.
- Plan around the exact card. AMD’s 304W TBP is a useful planning figure for the RX 9070 XT, but confirm the partner card’s power guidance, dimensions and case clearance. Check your PSU and available space against the specific model rather than assuming all cards share one design.
- Account for non-gaming work. If you rely on a creator application, AI workflow or other software, seek testing of that exact workload; the cited comparison is not evidence for those uses.
Verdict: RX 9070 XT or RTX 5060 Ti 16GB?
For a buyer focused on the gaming workloads represented in the cited tests, the RX 9070 XT is the stronger performance choice, including in the listed aggregate ray-tracing results. The RTX 5060 Ti 16GB remains a reasonable alternative if its exact model better fits your system or it is meaningfully cheaper at checkout. Both have 16GB, but that shared capacity does not make their performance, memory type or power needs equivalent.
