There is no universal winner. The Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB leads in several TechSpot game comparisons, while ComputerBase’s newer 1080p results show the GeForce RTX 5060 8GB winning some titles and losing others. Choose between them using the games you actually play, your resolution and ray-tracing settings, and the exact local price of the card models available to you.
The short answer
Both cards in this comparison have 8GB of VRAM. The RX 9060 XT is also sold in a separate 16GB version, but that model is not part of this matchup and its results must not be substituted here.

For conventional rasterized rendering, the RX 9060 XT 8GB has a strong case in several games. TechSpot reported it ahead of the RTX 5060 in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered and several Rainbow Six Siege X presets. ComputerBase’s 1080p suite, however, measured a near tie in Anno 117, a clear RTX 5060 advantage in ARC Raiders, and an RX 9060 XT advantage in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Ray-tracing results also vary by game.

- Choose the RX 9060 XT 8GB when your games resemble the Radeon-favoring results, its exact board is no more expensive locally, and you mainly use rasterized rendering.
- Choose the RTX 5060 8GB when your library favors its results, you prioritize particular ray-traced or upscaling features, or it is meaningfully cheaper or easier to fit into your system.
- Do not choose from a pooled “average” inferred from these sources. The tests use different games, settings, drivers and systems, so they demonstrate variability rather than a single overall ranking.

The product name alone is not enough to identify a complete card. A factory-overclocked dual-fan board and a compact single-fan board can have different dimensions, temperatures, acoustics, power connectors and warranties even when they use the same GPU. The benchmark evidence does not provide a systematic board-level comparison, so inspect the exact listing before ordering.

Why the 8GB detail matters
Video memory capacity can affect texture quality, stutter and whether a game can hold a chosen preset without streaming data from system memory. In this article, both cards have 8GB, so the comparison is between like capacities. Do not use a review of the 16GB RX 9060 XT to justify buying the 8GB card, and do not assume a result for the RX 9060 XT 16GB versus another GPU transfers to the RTX 5060 8GB matchup.
TechSpot specifically noted that Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered at its Very High preset demanded more than 10GB of VRAM even at 1080p in its test. That is evidence about that game and preset, not a rule that every modern title needs more than 8GB. If a game approaches the limit, lowering texture quality or another memory-heavy setting may be necessary on either card.
What TechSpot’s independent comparison found
TechSpot’s 2025 comparison tested the RTX 5060 and RX 9060 XT 8GB across four GPU generations. Its results are useful examples, but they are not a guarantee for every driver, game build or computer.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty
Under the Low preset, TechSpot reported the RX 9060 XT 8GB 21% faster at 1080p and 18% faster at 1440p than the RTX 5060. Under the High preset, the Radeon lead narrowed to 5% at 1080p and 10% at 1440p. The result changes with the preset, which is why a single headline percentage should not be treated as a universal performance gap.
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
At the Very High preset, TechSpot reported the game demanded more than 10GB of VRAM even at 1080p. Both cards in this article have 8GB, so the practical question is whether you are willing to reduce memory-heavy settings. The result does not establish that one 8GB card will avoid the limitation in every scene.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II
TechSpot described the latest cards as very close under its stated Ultra preset, with no more than 1–2 frames per second separating them. At that scale, your frame-time consistency, monitor refresh rate and local price may matter more than the nominal lead.
Rainbow Six Siege X
Several listed presets in TechSpot’s examples favored the Radeon. Because the article reports separate game and preset results, use the setting closest to your own configuration rather than assuming the same lead at every quality level.
What ComputerBase’s newer 1080p suite found
ComputerBase’s 2026 test page presents 1080p game results with DLSS or FSR Quality in its test setup and separate rasterization and ray-tracing charts. The following are its reported averages for the two 8GB cards. They illustrate game-specific behavior, not a pooled ranking.
| Game and rendering mode | RX 9060 XT 8GB | RTX 5060 8GB | Observed result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anno 117 rasterization | 68.2 FPS | 67.4 FPS | Near tie, Radeon ahead by 0.8 FPS |
| Anno 117 ray tracing | 55.0 FPS | 55.5 FPS | Near tie, GeForce ahead by 0.5 FPS |
| ARC Raiders rasterization | 120.7 FPS | 134.1 FPS | GeForce ahead by 13.4 FPS |
| ARC Raiders ray tracing | 93.0 FPS | 111.0 FPS | GeForce ahead by 18.0 FPS |
| Assassin’s Creed Shadows rasterization | 75.3 FPS | 66.2 FPS | Radeon ahead by 9.1 FPS |
| Assassin’s Creed Shadows ray tracing | 61.9 FPS | 58.2 FPS | Radeon ahead by 3.7 FPS |
These figures show why “which GPU wins?” has to include the game and rendering mode. The RTX 5060’s lead in ARC Raiders is substantial in this suite, while the RX 9060 XT leads in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. In Anno 117, the difference is too small to drive a purchase by itself.
How much weight should AMD’s own comparison receive?
AMD’s competitive brief documents a May 2025 1080p comparison of the RX 9060 XT 8GB and RTX 5060 8GB in Cyberpunk 2077, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Starfield. The test system used a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory, Windows 11 Pro, AMD driver 25.10 and NVIDIA driver 576.52.

Those details make the results reproducible in principle, but the source is vendor-produced rather than independent validation. AMD warns that system configurations can vary and produce different results. Treat the brief as AMD’s own evidence about its chosen games and settings, not as a neutral replacement for independent reviews. Do not import AMD’s separate RX 9060 XT 16GB versus RTX 5060 Ti 8GB claims into this article; they concern different products.

Rasterization, ray tracing and upscaling: compare like with like
Rasterization
Rasterization is the conventional rendering path used by most traditional benchmark charts. If you play with ray tracing disabled, raster results are the closest match to your experience. ComputerBase’s examples split here: the Radeon is slightly ahead in Anno 117, considerably behind in ARC Raiders, and ahead in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Ray tracing
Ray tracing can change the relative order. In ComputerBase’s ARC Raiders result, the RTX 5060 averaged 111.0 FPS versus 93.0 FPS for the RX 9060 XT. In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the Radeon averaged 61.9 FPS versus 58.2 FPS for the GeForce, so ray tracing still did not produce a universal winner.
DLSS, FSR and native rendering
Upscaling changes the workload and the image-quality trade-off. ComputerBase identifies DLSS/FSR Quality in its test setup, while other comparisons may use native rendering or different presets. Never compare an upscaled result with a native result as though they were identical. When reading a review, record the resolution, preset, upscaler, sharpening setting, frame generation status and ray-tracing options beside the FPS number.
A decision framework for your game library
If you mainly play the games tested by TechSpot
The RX 9060 XT 8GB is the more promising choice for the specific Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty presets where TechSpot measured a Radeon lead, and for its listed Rainbow Six Siege X examples. In Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, the measured gap was only 1–2 FPS, so price and board quality should decide.

If you play ARC Raiders
ComputerBase measured the RTX 5060 ahead at both rasterization and ray tracing in its 1080p setup: 134.1 versus 120.7 FPS in rasterization and 111.0 versus 93.0 FPS with ray tracing. Unless your own settings differ substantially, that result gives the GeForce a strong game-specific case.
If you play Assassin’s Creed Shadows
ComputerBase measured the RX 9060 XT ahead in both modes tested: 75.3 versus 66.2 FPS in rasterization and 61.9 versus 58.2 FPS in ray tracing. This is one of the clearest Radeon-favoring examples in the newer suite.
If you play a mixed library
List your five most-played or most-demanding games, then find results using the same resolution, preset and rendering mode you intend to use. Give extra weight to games where the difference is large and repeatable, not to near ties such as the Anno 117 averages. If no credible result exists for a key title, treat the outcome as uncertain rather than extrapolating from a different game.

The cited performance sources do not establish a current street price, regional availability or a reliable value winner. Prices can differ by country, retailer, taxes, stock and cooler design, and can change after a review is published. Compare the exact RX 9060 XT 8GB and RTX 5060 8GB listings available to you on the day you buy.
Use this calculation instead of relying on a launch-price assumption:
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
- Write down the delivered price of each exact board, including taxes and shipping.
- Confirm that each listing is the 8GB model. Reject a listing that silently switches to the RX 9060 XT 16GB or another RTX variant.
- Check the board’s dimensions against your case, its required power connectors against your power supply, and the manufacturer’s warranty terms for your region.
- Compare performance in your priority games at matching settings. A 5% FPS advantage rarely justifies a large price premium; a 20% advantage in your main game may.
- Account for features you will actually use, such as your preferred upscaler or ray-tracing mode, rather than paying for a feature you leave disabled.
Check the physical card, not just the GPU name
Neither benchmark source supplies a systematic comparison of partner-board power, acoustics, dimensions or warranty. Before purchase, open the manufacturer’s specification page for the precise model and verify:
- Length, height and thickness, including room for adjacent expansion slots.
- Required PCIe power connector and the recommended power-supply capacity.
- Cooling design, fan-stop behavior and stated operating limits.
- Display outputs and the number of monitors you intend to connect.
- Warranty duration, registration requirements and regional support.
- Return policy in case the card does not fit or produces unacceptable noise.
These checks can outweigh a small benchmark difference. A card that does not fit your case or requires a power connector you do not have is not a practical bargain.
How to validate your choice after installation
- Install the current driver for the GPU you bought and reboot before benchmarking.
- Use the game’s built-in benchmark when available, or repeat the same save and route for each run.
- Set a fixed resolution, quality preset, ray-tracing state and upscaler mode. Record whether frame generation is enabled.
- Run at least three passes after shader compilation has completed, discarding an obvious outlier.
- Record average FPS and frame-time behavior. If a tool reports 1% lows, keep them alongside the average instead of using average FPS alone.
- Watch VRAM use, temperatures, clock behavior and fan noise. If an 8GB limit causes texture pop-in or stutter, lower texture quality before changing unrelated settings.
Your result may differ from a review because of the game patch, driver version, CPU, memory configuration, background tasks and test scene. That difference does not automatically mean the review or your card is defective.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteCommon mistakes to avoid
- Mixing the 8GB and 16GB Radeon results: the RX 9060 XT 16GB is a separate product.
- Declaring a winner from one game: the ComputerBase results reverse direction between ARC Raiders and Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
- Ignoring the preset: TechSpot’s Radeon lead in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty was 21% at 1080p on Low but 5% on High.
- Combining native and upscaled FPS: DLSS or FSR Quality must be labeled and compared with the same mode.
- Treating vendor data as independent testing: AMD’s brief is useful methodology, but it reports AMD’s own test results.
- Buying on an outdated price: check the current local listing and the exact board’s warranty and physical specifications.
Final buying recommendation
Buy the RX 9060 XT 8GB when it is competitively priced and your priority games align with its measured wins, especially the cited Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Rainbow Six Siege X and Assassin’s Creed Shadows examples. Buy the RTX 5060 8GB when your library includes titles such as ARC Raiders where ComputerBase measured a substantial GeForce lead, or when its local price, board dimensions or feature support better fit your system.
For mixed libraries, there is no evidence-based universal champion. Both are 8GB cards, both can require setting compromises in particularly memory-hungry games, and the correct choice is the one that delivers the better result in your games at the price and physical configuration you can actually buy.
