Its main buying caveat is that the published dimensions conflict, and the public CHOICE listing does not show how it performed on individual foods. Treat the 8 L as a claimed capacity—not a verified usable basket volume—and check the measurements against your kitchen before buying.
What the 27170AU offers
This is a drawer-style air fryer with front touch controls and a digital display. CHOICE lists a non-stick pan or bowl, 1,800 W claimed power, a temperature range of 50–220°C and an 8 L claimed capacity. CHOICE says its usable cooking capacity is available to members and that it did not measure basket size, so the litre figure does not establish how much food will fit in a practical batch. The manual describes cooking with hot air and radiant heat. The model has a crisper plate that can sit in a high or low position, changing how close food is to the heating element. This gives some flexibility in how food sits in the drawer, but does not replace checking the actual cooking area against the kinds of portions you make.
How well does it cook?
CHOICE lists a 79% Expert Rating for the model, but its public listing does not reveal the detailed results for fries, chicken, roast pork, ease of use or cleaning. The 79% is a composite rating; it cannot tell you how this fryer performed on a particular dish. CHOICE

The manual lists 10 preset modes: fries, vegetables, bake, fish, eggs, chicken, grill, reheat, defrost and dehydrate. Preset time and temperature can be adjusted. The manual’s defaults include fries at 205°C for 18 minutes, chicken at 180°C for 40 minutes, and dehydrate at 50°C for 120 minutes. Selected presets sound a shake reminder. The manual advises against overfilling the basket so hot air can circulate, and says to check that food is thoroughly cooked before serving. Follow safe food-handling practices rather than relying on a preset or reminder alone.

Check the footprint before you buy
Published dimensions and weights do not match. CHOICE lists 31 × 30 × 38 cm and 5.1 kg; BIG W lists 34.5 × 36.5 × 34.5 cm and 6.0 kg. The available listings do not resolve the discrepancy, so measure your bench and storage space, allow room for ventilation and drawer access, and ask the seller to confirm the dimensions of the exact unit. Cleaning, presets and everyday handling
BIG W says the removable fry basket and crisping plate are dishwasher-safe and reports that they were tested for 100 dishwasher cycles. This is a retailer-published product claim, not a separate independent cleaning test. BIG W product listing
The manual cautions that hot oil can collect beneath the crisper plate. Let the components cool before cleaning, and handle the drawer and plate carefully after cooking. Who should consider the SatisFry 27170AU?
- It may suit you if you want a single-drawer appliance with a wide listed temperature range, several adjustable presets and dishwasher-safe removable parts according to the retailer.
- Check further before buying if counter space is tight, you need a specific batch size, or you want independent results for particular foods. The listed dimensions conflict, usable basket capacity is not public, and CHOICE’s detailed food results are restricted.
Compare other air fryers by measured usable basket area and realistic batch size, not claimed litres alone. Also check footprint, drawer or dual-basket layout, temperature range, adjustable controls, cleaning method, warranty and whether independent food-by-food results are available.
