RuneScape Reignited has an official description from Jagex; “RuneScape 4” does not have comparable confirmed details in the official sources reviewed. That means there is not enough verified information to compare them as two established games or name a winner. Reignited is presented as a refreshed RuneScape experience, with a remastered early journey, guided onboarding, integrated plugins, and the removal of certain systems. Jagex has not established whether “RuneScape 4” is a separate game or how it relates to Reignited.
Is RuneScape 4 the same as RuneScape Reignited?
That has not been confirmed by the official material available from Jagex. Its RuneScape Reignited page describes Reignited, while its RuneFest 2026 roundup provides more detail about planned updates. Neither establishes “RuneScape 4” as the official name of a separate released game, specifies its features, or explains a relationship between the names.

So, “RuneScape 4 vs. RuneScape Reignited” is not yet a verified game-versus-game comparison. Reignited should not be described as a confirmed standalone sequel, and the absence of official details here does not prove that no RS4 project exists.
What has Jagex announced for RuneScape Reignited?
Jagex describes Reignited as a chance to begin the RuneScape journey anew, bringing recent changes together in a renewed experience. Its announcement emphasizes rediscovering Gielinor and says the world will have no Treasure Hunter.

A remastered early journey
Jagex says it is remastering the experience from gameplay to graphics, starting with a player’s first steps in Lumbridge. Its RuneFest roundup says the initial early-journey update is planned for December 2, 2026. The planned work includes environments, early quests and bosses, core skill interactions, skill guides, interface clutter, and defaults. These are announced plans, not confirmation that the update has shipped.
The Reignited page says parts II and III of the remastered journey will arrive later in 2027. Dates and roadmaps can change.

A guide and integrated plugins
The planned Gielinor Adventure Guide is intended to help players work out what to do next and make progress. Jagex also says community-developed plugins will be integrated in game, naming Quest Helper as an example of an officially supported plugin.

Jagex says Hero Pass is removed, Treasure Hunter is gone, and Evolution of Combat is “a distant memory.” The page frames these changes as part of putting the core RuneScape adventure first, alongside gameplay and system improvements shaped by player feedback.

When are the Reignited changes planned?
In its October 2026 RuneFest roundup, Jagex said the first early-journey remaster update was planned for December 2, 2026. Its Reignited page places parts II and III later in 2027.
