RPCS3 announced on October 5, 2026, that it fixed a grass-rendering problem in Flower and Boku no Natsuyasumi 3. Contemporaneous coverage reported both games as “Playable” after the change. That is RPCS3’s compatibility category—not a guarantee that every computer, emulator build, or setting will be issue-free.

What RPCS3 changed in Flower

In its October 5 announcement, RPCS3 credited developer Yahfz with fixing a bug that caused vertices in draw calls containing more than 65,536 vertices to be ignored. The project said Flower submits more than 200,000 grass vertices in a single draw call. The figures and technical explanation come from RPCS3’s announcement, reproduced in contemporaneous coverage; they are not independent performance measurements. RPCS3’s announcement was checked against that reproduction because the original post was not directly accessible.

The practical change is that grass that previously failed to render correctly should now appear in RPCS3. The fix also applies to Boku no Natsuyasumi 3. Notebookcheck reported both games as “Playable” following the fix. Notebookcheck’s October 6, 2026 report describes the status after the announcement; it does not establish identical results on every setup.

What RPCS3 means by “Playable”

RPCS3 defines “Playable” as games “that can be completed with playable performance and no game breaking glitches.” The category describes a threshold for completing a game, not a promise of flawless rendering, performance, or behavior in every situation. RPCS3 also warns that its compatibility list changes frequently. See RPCS3’s compatibility list and category definition.

#1 Best Overall
Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing - PlayStation 3
  • In a frantic battle to the checkered flag, Sonic and friends speed around tracks set in mediaeval castle ramparts, lush rainforests and bustling cities, all taken from the visually rich and varied universes of Sonic and SEGA.
  • Secret short cuts, swift handling and avoiding strategically placed obstacles are certainly the best way to get to the top of the podium…
  • Each character has a specific All Star move – such as Super Sonic, Banana Blitz and Tails Tornado – that allows a quick way for competitors to get back into the race!
  • Power ups and weapons can also be collected around the tracks and used against the opposition to ensure they don’t become a threat to that number one position.
  • Battle it out in single or multiplayer mode, allowing up to four friends to race in frantic split-screen action, or up to eight players to compete online in the ultimate racing showdown.

Accordingly, the update supports saying that Flower is reported as Playable in RPCS3 after the grass fix. It does not establish that every PC, emulator version, game version, or configuration will produce the same experience.

Ways to play Flower on a PC

Why the game is getting attention

Flower originally launched globally in 2009, according to Notebookcheck. The same report gives it a Metacritic score of 87, but does not state the year for that score; treat it as a dated secondary-source figure, not a current review consensus. Notebookcheck’s report is also the source for the launch-year and score details.
