Roku does have a documented hidden screen, but it is for app developers—not a shortcut to better streaming or extra consumer settings. Roku’s developer-mode sequence opens an installer used to test apps. Other “Roku secret menu codes” found online are historical or limited to special test firmware, and aren’t confirmed for ordinary current Roku devices.
What Roku’s secret menus actually do
The phrase “secret menu” lumps together screens with very different purposes. Roku documents a developer setup screen for sideloading and testing apps, and a separate Roku TV Ready test screen for specially prepared firmware. Neither is presented as an undisclosed consumer upgrade.

How to open Roku developer mode
Use a Roku remote or the Roku remote app while on the Home screen. Enter this sequence:
- Press Home three times.
- Press Up twice.
- Press Right, Left, Right, Left, Right.
The Development Application Installer workflow should appear. Follow its prompts to review and accept the Developer Tools License Agreement, then set a device password. Roku describes this mode as a way to sideload apps and run, test, and debug them. As Roku Developer puts it, “Once you get a Roku device and enroll in the Roku developer program, you can put your device in developer mode, sideload apps using the Roku web plug-in, and then run sample apps and test and debug your app.” See Roku’s Activating developer mode.

This is an app-development workflow, not a performance boost or a menu for changing normal streaming settings. Don’t enable it expecting faster playback, Wi-Fi details, or picture controls.
Why other Roku hidden menu codes need caution
A legacy sequence in developer release notes
Roku developer release notes record a historical sequence—Home five times, Fast Forward three times, Rewind twice—for a narrow old setup situation involving the Streaming Store linking screen. The notes describe cycling a channel-store server setting and warn that software-update options on that screen were server-controlled and not functional for developers. That historical reference does not establish that the screen works on current retail devices. Avoid changing unfamiliar server or update options. See the Roku developer release notes.

Roku TV Ready test screen
The Roku TV Ready manual lists another sequence: Home five times, Up, Right, Up, Right, Up. It says the screen is available only on TVs running specially prepared test firmware, obtained through the developer portal for a build with additional debug features. The sequence is not evidence of a working menu on a normal retail Roku TV.

Commonly circulated instructions also claim to reveal a Roku Wi-Fi secret screen, platform diagnostics, bitrate controls, HDMI information, channel-version details, or reboot options. The official documentation cited here does not establish that those screens work across current retail Roku players and TVs, or that they are available on a particular model and software version. Treat such instructions as unverified rather than assuming that a code is safe or useful.

Use supported options for common needs
Show or hide Home screen shortcuts
For tile shortcuts, open Home > Settings > Home screen > Shortcuts and adjust the available options. Roku distinguishes these Home screen tiles from preset or personalized shortcut buttons on some remotes. See Roku’s shortcut instructions.
Try experimental apps with Roku Labs
Roku’s feature update dated October 2, 2026 describes Roku Labs as a way to get early access to experimental apps, added from the Streaming Store. The apps listed at launch include Weather, Stocks, and Find My Remote for eligible devices. Reset network settings without wiping the device
If the problem is network connectivity, the Roku TV User Guide v15.0 documents a network connection reset at Settings > System > Advanced system settings > Network connection reset. A factory reset removes preferences, unlinks the device from your Roku account, removes apps and account information, and returns the device to initial setup. Before proceeding, have your Roku account and Wi-Fi details ready, along with sign-in information for apps you use. Bottom line on Roku secret menus
Developer mode is the clearest documented hidden screen, and it is meant for app development. The other known sequences are tied to an old developer setup or restricted test firmware, while many popular diagnostics claims remain unverified for current retail devices. For ordinary settings, app experiments, or network problems, use Roku’s supported menus instead of experimenting with undocumented codes.
