Roku Pro Series OLED 65-Inch TV Review: 4K/120Hz Features at a Lower OLED Price

The 65-inch Roku Pro Series OLED (model 65RAD5) pairs OLED contrast with 4K resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate and Roku’s built-in TV platform. It launched in the US at $1,199.99, a relatively accessible price for an OLED, but its modest brightness and reflective screen make it a less convincing choice for bright rooms. Its gaming specification is strong at 4K/120Hz, though it is not the 144 Hz Pro Series LX.

What is the Roku 65-inch Pro Series OLED?

The 65RAD5 is Roku’s standard Pro Series OLED television, not the Pro Series LX. Roku lists a 4K OLED panel, 120 Hz refresh rate, HDMI 2.1 inputs and support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HLG on its official US product page. Roku’s built-in TV platform is part of the package, so the set combines the display and streaming interface in one television.

Roku’s launch positioning emphasized making OLED more affordable. That is a statement of intent, not proof that the television is the market’s cheapest OLED: it is better understood as a relatively accessible OLED option with trade-offs in brightness and sound.

How good is the picture?

OLED contrast and dark-room viewing

OLED pixels can switch off individually, producing deep blacks and strong contrast. In its hands-on review, TechRadar found that the Roku delivers the deep blacks associated with OLED and described it as a competent mid-range television, while noting that it is not as impressive overall as top-tier TVs.

Brightness and reflections

The main practical compromise is brightness. TechRadar’s reviewer found the set less bright than some rivals and warned that its glossy screen can reflect light, making it a weaker fit for a bright room. In a September 2026 preview—not a completed full review—Tom’s Guide estimated HDR brightness at 500 to 700 nits and said the LG C6 and Samsung S90H were brighter. Treat that figure as a preview estimate, not a specification or a result from a full review.

In practice, the Roku is a better match for controlled lighting or evening viewing than for a sunlit room where screen reflections and peak brightness matter most.

Is it good for gaming?

For most console gaming, 4K at 120 Hz with HDMI 2.1 is a capable feature set. Roku also lists variable refresh rate (VRR), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and FreeSync Premium. Those features support smooth, responsive play with compatible devices, though results depend on the console or PC, game and connection.

Do not confuse this model’s 120 Hz refresh rate with the Pro Series LX: Roku specifies up to 144 Hz VRR for the LX, not the standard OLED. TechRadar’s reviewer said games looked good on the OLED but judged it to have few gaming-specific features. That assessment sits alongside, rather than replacing, Roku’s listed HDMI and refresh-rate capabilities.

How does it compare with alternatives?

The choice depends on your room, display priorities and the prices available when you shop. TechRadar’s comparison describes the LG B6 as brighter and somewhat stronger in color coverage, and the TCL QM7L as much brighter with better color coverage. The Roku’s OLED black levels are its key counterpoint, and TechRadar notes that it offers more HDMI 2.1 ports than those comparison models. The 2025 Roku Pro is another point of reference, but the available comparison does not establish a complete current price or performance ranking across all models.

Option Display and strengths noted Useful distinction
Roku Pro Series OLED 65-inch (65RAD5) OLED; deep blacks; 4K/120 Hz, HDMI 2.1, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG, VRR and ALLM Glossy screen and lower brightness can be drawbacks in bright rooms.
Roku Pro Series LX Roku specifies up to 144 Hz VRR Different model from the standard 120 Hz OLED; do not assume the OLED has 144 Hz.
LG B6 TechRadar describes it as brighter and somewhat stronger in color coverage than the Roku OLED Comparison assessment from TechRadar; prices vary.
TCL QM7L TechRadar describes it as much brighter with better color coverage than the Roku OLED Comparison assessment from TechRadar; prices vary.

These are not like-for-like display technologies: the Roku is OLED, while the TCL QM7L is a Mini-LED alternative in TechRadar’s comparison. Check the exact model specifications and current prices before deciding; comparison prices are snapshots, not guaranteed offers.

What are the sound and price trade-offs?

TechRadar found the built-in sound limited in scale and depth. It can serve everyday viewing, but viewers who want stronger bass or a more cinematic sense of scale may prefer separate audio equipment.

Roku listed the 65-inch television at $1,199.99, also reported as its September 2026 launch price by What Hi-Fi? TechRadar recorded a review-period price as low as $799. That was a time-sensitive observation, not a current offer or guaranteed ongoing price. Check the retailer’s live listing before buying; discounts and availability can change.

Should I buy the Roku Pro Series OLED TV?

Consider it if you want OLED black levels, a built-in Roku interface and a modern 4K/120 Hz gaming feature set without moving to a higher-priced flagship. It is most appealing in a room where you can manage reflections and do not require the highest brightness.

Look elsewhere if the TV will face strong daylight, you prioritize a brighter picture, or built-in sound needs to deliver movie-scale impact. The Roku is a credible mid-range OLED, not an across-the-board top performer; its value depends on whether its price and OLED contrast outweigh those room and audio compromises.
