On your Roku, press Home and choose Store or Streaming Store to find and add apps. Some interfaces call it Streaming Channels. You can also add an app from Roku’s website or mobile app; if it does not appear on your device afterward, check for a system update.
How do I find the Channel Store on my Roku?
Roku’s current support instructions refer to the app marketplace as the Streaming Store or Roku Store. From the Home screen, open Store or Streaming Store; some Roku interfaces use Streaming Channels. Names and menu wording can differ by device and region, so look for the store option on the Home screen rather than expecting one identical label everywhere. Once inside, browse categories or search for an app, then open its listing to review details and choose Add app. The app is added to your Home screen, typically near the bottom of the app list; you can move it to another position.
How do I add a channel or app to Roku?
- Press Home on the Roku remote.
- Open Store, Streaming Store, or, on some interfaces, Streaming Channels.
- Browse or search for the app you want and open its details.
- Review any price, subscription, or other sign-up information, then select Add app and follow any on-screen prompts.
Roku associates an added app with your Roku account, so it is also added to other Roku devices linked to that account. Removing it is account-wide as well. Roku’s app-installation guidance covers account behavior and prompts.

Can I add a Roku app from my phone or computer?
Yes. Use the Roku website or the Roku mobile app if you prefer to browse away from the TV. These routes are convenient when searching on a larger screen or phone, but you still need to check the Roku device if the app does not show up there.

Will adding a channel charge me?
Not necessarily. Some apps are free to add; others require a subscription or a one-time charge. Installing an app and paying for its service are separate steps: adding the app does not by itself establish what its viewing content costs. Check the app listing and any sign-up or checkout language before confirming. Roku may request your account PIN when you add an app or sign up for a subscription. Roku’s support page describes payment and PIN prompts.

An app added through the website or mobile app may not appear on the Roku immediately. To prompt the device to check for it, use this path:

- Press Home.
- Go to Settings > System > System update.
- Select Check now.
Roku’s support guidance recommends this check for remotely added apps. Its free-channel guidance says device checks may happen periodically, but does not establish a universal wait time across software versions. App and content search results can vary by region, and some apps or titles require payment. Availability can also differ by device and change over time. Check the listing available on your own Roku and the service’s eligibility requirements; an app appearing in one country does not mean it will be listed in another. Roku says search results can vary by region.

For example, Roku Support’s page for The Roku Channel, last updated June 23, 2026, lists availability on Roku devices, the web, and mobile in the United States, Canada, and United Kingdom, and on Roku devices in Mexico. The page gives the device path as Home > Streaming Store, then locate The Roku Channel and select Add app. Its “500+ live channels” description is a claim on that support page, not a timeless or independently verified count.
