Riot said Secretlab supported the event with chairs only. The clarification followed reports of mouse interference that Riot attributed to components in the custom desks.
Who made the Champions Shanghai desks?
Riot said on October 2, 2026, that it had custom fabricated the desks for the event. In a statement reproduced by Insider Gaming, Riot’s VALORANT Champions Tour account said the desks “were not manufactured, supplied, or sponsored by Secretlab.” Secretlab’s community manager was quoted as saying the company supported Champions with chairs but was not the VALORANT Champions Tour’s desk partner.
Why did players report mouse interference?
Riot attributed the interference to the desk construction, not to a particular mouse brand. On September 26, Riot Global Head of VALORANT Esports Leo Faria said specific metal components in the desks were causing the issue and that the desks were being rebuilt, according to Dot Esports. The available reporting relays Riot’s explanation; it does not establish an independent technical investigation.
What did Riot do to address it?
Temporary workaround
While addressing the equipment, Riot asked players to connect their mice by wire, according to Insider Gaming. That was a temporary event instruction, not a recommendation that players generally need wired mice.

Desk changes and monitoring
Riot replaced the desk tops with tops made from a different material. On October 2, Faria reported that there had been no mouse issues after the swap and said Riot would continue monitoring, as reported by Insider Gaming. That was an update on the situation at that point, not proof the issue could never return.
What happened with the FUT versus 100 Thieves match?
The equipment problem also raised a separate question about a disputed round. In FUT Esports’ match against 100 Thieves, FUT player xeus experienced an issue that affected his ability to fire. Riot later concluded that a round rollback should have been allowed, according to its statement reproduced by Insider Gaming. Riot said it took responsibility for that error, but the match result would stand after it considered the available options.

- Repair status: Riot reported no mouse issues after replacing the tops and said monitoring would continue.
- Match decision: Riot acknowledged that a rollback should have been allowed in the xeus incident, while leaving the match result unchanged.
The published accounts support Riot’s statements and reported updates, but do not provide an independent technical finding or establish that the equipment change was a permanent fix.
