Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallChoose a RhinoShield bumper if you want the iPhone’s original back visible and are comfortable leaving it exposed. Choose a full-coverage case if protecting the back matters as much as protecting the edges. RHINOSHIELD CrashGuard is a backplate-free bumper; SolidSuit is a protective case that covers the back, and SolidX is another full-case option listed for iPhone 17. Your exact iPhone generation, screen protector and priorities should decide the purchase.
The short answer: coverage matters more than the marketing label
A bumper and a full case solve different problems. A bumper wraps around the phone’s perimeter and leaves the rear glass or aluminum visible. A full-coverage case adds a back panel, so the phone’s rear is enclosed as well as its edges. Neither format automatically protects the display; that normally requires a separate screen protector.

For RHINOSHIELD’s range, CrashGuard represents the open-back approach. RHINOSHIELD describes it as lightweight and backplate-free, with a design intended to show the phone’s true color. SolidSuit represents the conventional protective case: the iPhone 16 buying page identifies it as a “Classic Protective Case,” made from TPE, and says it exceeds military standards. The iPhone 17 page names SolidX as another full-case option, with reinforced internal corners and shock grooves.

Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Use this rule of thumb:
- Pick CrashGuard when appearance, a minimal feel and an exposed phone back are more important than rear-surface coverage.
- Pick SolidSuit or the model-appropriate full case when you want one case to cover both the perimeter and the back.
- Add a compatible screen protector if display coverage is part of your protection plan.
How a bumper differs from a full-coverage case
Back protection
The defining difference is the rear. CrashGuard has no backplate, so the iPhone’s own back remains exposed to contact with tables, pockets, grit and other surfaces. SolidSuit and SolidX add material behind the phone. That extra layer can prevent direct contact with the rear panel, but it also hides the finish you bought.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Ask what you are trying to preserve. If the goal is to display the iPhone’s color and keep the accessory visually restrained, the open back is a feature. If the goal is to reduce the number of exposed surfaces during daily use, a full case is the more direct match.
Perimeter protection
Both approaches focus on the edges and corners. A bumper concentrates its material where a phone commonly meets the ground first: the perimeter. A full case also wraps those areas, then extends protection across the rear. The practical question is not whether a bumper has protection; it is whether edge protection alone is enough for your carrying habits and tolerance for cosmetic wear.
Heat and bulk considerations
RHINOSHIELD says CrashGuard’s backplate-free design “allows your phone to breathe and prevents overheating.” That is product-page language from RHINOSHIELD, not an independent thermal test. The design is also described as lightweight. A full case necessarily adds a rear layer, so compare the case’s feel and dimensions with your preference for grip, pocketability and visible phone design rather than assuming one format is universally better.

What CrashGuard is suited to
You want the original rear visible
CrashGuard is designed for people who do not want a backplate over the iPhone. The phone’s color and finish remain part of the visual design, while the bumper creates a protective frame around it. This can be appealing when you dislike covering the device you selected for its appearance.
You prefer a minimal accessory
RHINOSHIELD describes CrashGuard as lightweight. A bumper also uses less material over the rear than a full case, which may make the phone feel closer to its uncovered form. Treat that as a design preference, not a promise about a particular combined weight: the page cited here does not provide a complete case-and-phone measurement.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
You accept an exposed back
The trade-off is explicit. The rear is not enclosed by the case. If the phone will share a bag with keys, be placed on rough surfaces or be handled in environments where rear scratches are a major concern, decide whether the open-back design still matches your risk tolerance. CrashGuard can protect the perimeter while leaving that separate vulnerability in place.
What a full-coverage case is suited to
You want the back enclosed
SolidSuit and SolidX cover the rear as well as the edges. That is the simplest choice when a bare back is unacceptable or when you want the case itself to be the contact surface on a desk or in a pocket.
You want an integrated protective shell
The iPhone 16 SolidSuit page calls it a “Classic Protective Case,” identifies TPE as its material and says it exceeds military standards. Those statements describe RHINOSHIELD’s product positioning; they do not establish a standardized head-to-head result against CrashGuard. SolidX’s iPhone 17 page emphasizes four reinforced internal corners and inner shock grooves, with RHINOSHIELD claiming up to 71% impact-force absorption.
You are buying for a newer model
The cited pages are model-specific: SolidSuit is documented on an iPhone 16 buying page, while SolidX is documented on an iPhone 17 page. A listing for one generation should not be treated as proof that the same part fits every iPhone. Select the exact model and verify camera, button, port and charging details before checkout.
How much weight to give the drop and impact numbers
CrashGuard’s product page states that its ShockSpread material is designed to absorb impacts from drops up to 11 feet (3.5 meters) and that its honeycomb structure increases impact absorption by 10%. SolidX’s page says its reinforced design absorbs up to 71% of impact force. These are useful descriptions of what RHINOSHIELD claims its designs are intended to do, but they are not independent test results.
The supplied official pages do not describe a shared test protocol, phone orientation, surface, number of drops, failure threshold or laboratory. They also do not compare CrashGuard and SolidSuit in the same experiment. Do not convert “up to” into a guaranteed survival height, and do not infer that 71% and 10% are directly comparable percentages: they refer to different products and different claims.

Use the numbers as secondary evidence after deciding on coverage. If the back must be covered, a bumper’s advertised drop figure does not change the fact that its back remains open. If you specifically want a backplate-free design, a full-case impact claim does not make the open-back experience equivalent.
Screen protection is a separate compatibility decision
A case surrounds the phone; it does not by itself establish that the display is covered. If you want front protection, plan for a screen protector that fits the case and your exact iPhone model.
RHINOSHIELD says its SolidX and SolidSuit cases should work with most third-party full-coverage protectors, but it qualifies that statement: fit depends on the protector’s design. RHINOSHIELD says its own protectors are designed for use with the case. The iPhone 17 SolidX page also lists Impact Protector PRO and 9H Tempered Glass as add-ons.

Before combining products, check:
- That the protector is made for the same iPhone generation and screen dimensions.
- That its edge treatment does not extend into the case’s raised lip.
- That the case does not lift, crease or push the protector away from the glass.
- That the camera, speaker and sensor openings remain clear after installation.
“Full coverage” describes the protector’s intended screen area, not a guarantee that every case and protector combination will fit. When in doubt, use the case maker’s stated combination or confirm the protector’s compatibility details before opening the package.
A practical decision process
Step 1: Decide whether the rear must be covered
If your answer is yes, choose a full-coverage case. If your answer is no because you want the iPhone’s rear visible, continue evaluating CrashGuard. This single decision eliminates most of the confusion between the two formats.
Step 2: Identify the exact iPhone
Write down the complete model and generation, not just “iPhone.” The available pages identify SolidSuit for iPhone 16 and SolidX for iPhone 17. Camera-module dimensions, button placement and overall fit can change between generations, so do not rely on a case name alone.

Step 3: Add the screen requirement
If the display needs protection, choose the case and protector as a pair. Check the stated compatibility rather than assuming any full-coverage protector will work. For SolidSuit or SolidX, RHINOSHIELD’s own protectors are the clearest documented pairing; third-party fit depends on the protector design.
Step 4: Rank your trade-offs
- Appearance: CrashGuard exposes the original back; a full case covers it.
- Coverage: A full case protects the rear surface in addition to the perimeter; a bumper does not.
- Feel: CrashGuard is described as lightweight and backplate-free; a full case adds a back layer.
- Charging: SolidSuit’s iPhone 16 page lists wireless-charging compatibility, with a qualification that compatibility may vary for non-Apple devices. Verify your specific charging setup.
- Evidence: Treat all cited drop and impact percentages as RHINOSHIELD claims, not independent rankings.
Step 5: Verify what is in the box
Do not assume a case includes a screen protector. The SolidX page lists Impact Protector PRO and 9H Tempered Glass as add-ons, indicating that front protection is a separate selection. Confirm the package contents for the exact listing you are buying.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Choosing by everyday scenario
You keep the phone in a clean pocket and care about its color
CrashGuard is the closer fit if you are comfortable with an exposed rear and want a light, open-back design. Pair it with a compatible screen protector if display coverage matters.
You put the phone on varied surfaces throughout the day
A full-coverage case provides a covered rear surface as well as edge protection. SolidSuit or the model-appropriate current full case is more aligned with that requirement than a bumper.
You are replacing a case after a rear-panel scratch
Choose a full case if preventing another exposed-back incident is the priority. A bumper would leave the same category of rear exposure in place.

You want the strongest-sounding specification
Do not select solely from the largest number. CrashGuard’s 11-foot and 10% figures and SolidX’s 71% figure describe different manufacturer claims. First choose the coverage format, then use the relevant claim as supporting information.
Installation and fit checks
- Confirm the model before opening the package. Match the case label to the exact iPhone generation. The documented SolidSuit and SolidX pages apply to iPhone 16 and iPhone 17 respectively.
- Clean the phone and the protector. Dust trapped under a protector or between the phone and case can create pressure points and visible marks.
- Install the screen protector first when using one. Follow the protector’s alignment instructions, then wait for the adhesive or edge seal to settle as directed by its maker.
- Fit the case evenly. Seat each corner and inspect the perimeter so the case is not riding over the protector’s edge.
- Check every opening and control. Confirm that buttons, speakers, cameras, the charging port and wireless charging work as expected with the case installed.
- Inspect the display edge. Run a fingertip around the protector. If the case lifts an edge, stop using that combination and switch to a compatible protector or case.
- Recheck after normal handling. A combination that fits on a clean desk can shift after pocketing. Look for lifting, trapped debris or a loose corner before relying on it.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Assuming a bumper protects the whole phone
It does not. CrashGuard’s defining feature is the absence of a backplate. If rear coverage is a requirement, move to a full case.
Comparing percentages as if they were a test leaderboard
The 10% honeycomb statement, 11-foot drop statement and 71% impact-force statement come from different product pages and lack an independent shared protocol. They cannot establish that one case is categorically safer in every fall.
Buying by iPhone family instead of exact generation
“iPhone” is not a sufficient fit specification. Check the generation shown on the product listing and verify the camera and control layout.
Assuming every full-coverage protector fits
RHINOSHIELD’s compatibility statement for SolidX and SolidSuit is qualified by protector design. Use a documented pairing whenever possible.
Expecting the case to protect the display
Neither a bumper nor a full case establishes full screen protection. Treat the protector as a separate component with its own fit and installation requirements.
Ignoring charging compatibility details
SolidSuit’s iPhone 16 page lists wireless charging, while noting that compatibility may vary for non-Apple devices. Test the charger and accessory combination you actually use instead of generalizing from the case name.

Bottom-line recommendation by priority
| Your priority | Better-matched format | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Show the iPhone’s original back | CrashGuard bumper | Backplate-free design leaves the rear visible |
| Cover the rear and edges | SolidSuit or another model-appropriate full case | Full-case construction encloses the back as well as the perimeter |
| Use a newer iPhone 17 listing | SolidX, after model verification | The cited page documents SolidX for iPhone 17 and describes reinforced internal corners and shock grooves |
| Protect the display too | Either case plus a compatible protector | Screen coverage is a separate accessory decision; fit must be checked |
| Judge by drop claims | Use the relevant RHINOSHIELD claim only as supporting evidence | The available figures are manufacturer claims, not independent comparative tests |
Final buying checklist
- Have you decided whether the back may remain exposed?
- Did you select the exact iPhone generation shown on the listing?
- If you need display coverage, did you choose a protector designed to fit that case?
- Are you treating the 11-foot, 10%, military-standard and 71% statements as manufacturer claims rather than independent test results?
- Did you verify wireless-charging behavior with your own charger and device combination?
- Have you checked package contents so you do not assume a protector is included?
CrashGuard is the right answer when the open-back experience is the point. SolidSuit or a model-specific full case is the right answer when the rear deserves the same enclosure as the edges. Make that coverage decision first, then confirm model and screen-protector compatibility.
