Build Rhiannon when your roster needs a flexible offensive support and your teams benefit from actions that do not consume AP after her Ultimate. Choose Flutterpage instead for follow-up-attack or extra-action teams, Mercuria when allied incantation ranks drive the strategy, and Kakania when damage interception and survival are the priority. If your team is already complete or relies mainly on indirect damage such as Poison, Rhiannon may add less than a specialist who directly advances that plan.
The useful question is not which character has the highest general rating. It is which support solves the bottleneck in the team you actually play: action-point pressure, follow-up triggers, rank-based effects, broad offensive buffs, or protection. The recommendations below are based on Prydwen Institute guides updated September 7, 2026, plus its Rhiannon pull guide updated August 13, 2026. Those are third-party evaluations, so check the live client after patches for changed skill text or recommendations.

Prydwen’s profile identifies Rhiannon as a six-star Beast Afflatus character who deals Mental damage and is classified as a Support. That classification matters: she is intended to improve a team’s output and turn economy, not replace the team’s primary carry. Her personal damage should be considered a bonus to her support work rather than the reason to build the account around her.

AP-free reinforced incantations
Rhiannon’s defining practical benefit begins with her Ultimate. During its effect, her basic incantations become reinforced and cost no AP. She can therefore take meaningful actions without consuming the action points that teammates need for their own cards. In an AP-tight round, this can let a damage dealer use an additional card, preserve a high-rank action for the right turn, or avoid choosing between setup and damage.
The benefit is action economy, not merely a larger damage number. It is most noticeable in teams that routinely have more useful cards than AP, or that need a support to contribute while the carry follows a strict rotation. It is less important when a team already has spare AP every round or when the support’s turn would otherwise be spent on a mechanic the team cannot exploit.
Broad compatibility, with an important qualification
Rhiannon is described as fitting several archetypes. That makes her easier to slot into different rosters, but compatibility should not be confused with advancing an archetype’s defining mechanic. A character can function in a follow-up, rank-sensitive, or other themed team without providing the specialized trigger that makes that team exceptional. If your roster is built around one such engine, compare Rhiannon’s general offensive value with the specialist who directly feeds it.

Prydwen recommends Rhiannon’s signature Psychube, The Soft Rain of Yesterday, and a survivability-oriented Resonance approach rather than treating her as a primary damage dealer. These are guide recommendations, not permanent rules. Confirm the current client, available resources, and patch version before spending rare materials; skill tuning and best-in-slot advice can change.
Rhiannon vs. Flutterpage
Pick Flutterpage for a follow-up engine
Flutterpage is the more focused choice when the team’s plan revolves around follow-up attacks or extra actions. Prydwen describes her as providing extra AP and damage buffs, with an Ultimate that converts her incantations into follow-up attacks. That gives her a direct relationship with a team that already creates opportunities for attacks outside the normal turn sequence.
In a follow-up composition, the question is not simply whether Rhiannon can provide a useful offensive buff. It is whether the team gains more from Rhiannon’s AP-free reinforced incantations or from Flutterpage adding the extra-action behavior the composition was designed to trigger. If follow-up attacks are the main source of damage, Flutterpage’s specialization generally addresses the central requirement more directly.

Pick Rhiannon when AP pressure is the real problem
Rhiannon is preferable when the team does not need another follow-up conversion but repeatedly runs out of AP. Her Ultimate lets her act without taking AP from allies, and her broad support profile can fit teams whose damage comes from ordinary incantations rather than extra-action triggers. She is also the safer general-purpose investment when you expect to use the support in several unrelated teams.
Decision test
- Choose Flutterpage if the carry’s damage rises primarily from follow-up attacks or extra actions.
- Choose Rhiannon if the carry already works without follow-ups and the recurring issue is fitting all necessary actions into the AP budget.
- If both problems exist, test which one causes failed clears: missing follow-up triggers or an overcrowded action queue. Build the support that removes that specific failure.
Rhiannon vs. Mercuria
Pick Mercuria for rank-dependent teams
Mercuria’s support identity is tied to allied incantation ranks. Prydwen describes her as benefiting effects connected to those ranks and notes that her Ultimate grants Rank Up. That makes her attractive when the team’s damage plan or buff thresholds explicitly improve with higher-rank incantations.
A rank-sensitive team values reliable access to the required rank more than a generic increase in offense. Mercuria’s contribution is therefore concentrated: when the mechanic is active, she is doing the job the composition was built to need. When the team rarely reaches the relevant ranks or receives little benefit from them, that specialization can sit idle.
Pick Rhiannon for general offense and flexible turns
Rhiannon is the better fit when your supports must work across several teams and none of them is defined by rank thresholds. Her AP-free reinforced basics provide value even when no special rank condition is present, and her offensive support can be used in more ordinary rotations. Her archetype flexibility is useful for a developing account, provided you understand that she may not advance each archetype’s signature mechanic as strongly as Mercuria.
Decision test
- Choose Mercuria when Rank Up changes whether the team’s key effects activate or reach their intended strength.
- Choose Rhiannon when rank is incidental and the account needs a support who can preserve AP while contributing broad offense.
- Do not select Mercuria solely because a team sometimes produces a high-rank card; verify that the rank interaction is central to its damage loop.
Rhiannon vs. Kakania
Pick Kakania for interception and survival
Kakania fills a defensive niche. Her guide describes damage interception and a single-target ATK buff that scales with damage received. That combination is valuable when one ally must stay alive through concentrated attacks, or when the team deliberately turns incoming damage into a stronger offensive buff.
Her value is measured in damage prevented and the survival of the team’s key unit, not in how many AP she saves. A fragile carry, a difficult stage with focused enemy pressure, or a strategy that benefits from her damage-received scaling all point toward Kakania.

Pick Rhiannon for offensive tempo
Rhiannon is the stronger answer when survivability is already adequate and the team loses turns to AP congestion. Her support profile is offensive and flexible, while Kakania’s is built around absorbing and converting damage. Replacing a defensive support with Rhiannon can raise output, but it also removes a layer of protection; do not make that trade if interception is what currently prevents a collapse.
Decision test
- Choose Kakania if the team fails because a key ally dies or cannot withstand targeted damage.
- Choose Rhiannon if the team survives but misses damage checks because the rotation cannot fit enough actions.
- If a stage alternates between survivability and damage checks, keep both available and change the support after identifying which check is ending the run.
Who should build Rhiannon?
Accounts with an open offensive-support slot
Rhiannon is a good investment when your roster has strong damage dealers but lacks a support who can contribute across multiple teams. Her Beast Afflatus and Mental damage type may also help you assemble a team around the characters you already own, but her primary reason to build is the support function, not coverage alone.
Teams that regularly hit the AP ceiling
Look at the turns immediately before a failed clear. If the carry has an essential card waiting in hand while the support also needs to act, Rhiannon’s Ultimate can relieve that conflict by making her reinforced incantations AP-free. This is especially relevant when the team’s best play requires several actions in one round rather than a single large attack.
Players who value roster flexibility
Because she can fit several archetypes, Rhiannon can be moved between teams as your account changes. That flexibility has a real resource value: one support can cover several lineups instead of forcing you to build a separate specialist for every damage engine. It is still necessary to check whether a particular team needs a defining mechanic that she does not provide.
Who should skip or delay Rhiannon?
Complete teams with a proven specialist
If every important team already has the support that advances its core plan, Rhiannon may be an upgrade of convenience rather than a missing piece. A new character is not automatically better than an established specialist just because she has a broad rating or newer release date. Save resources when her AP economy would not change your rotations and her offensive buffs would not solve a current problem.
Indirect-damage strategies
Prydwen’s pull guidance cautions that indirect-damage strategies such as Poison may gain less from Rhiannon’s ordinary offensive buffs. When most of the team’s output comes from damage-over-time or another effect that does not scale with the offensive tools you are adding, compare her against a support that directly improves that effect. Do not assume that a generally strong offensive support will increase every damage formula equally.

Teams whose bottleneck is defense
If your losses come from an ally being eliminated before the damage cycle begins, Kakania’s interception may be more valuable than Rhiannon’s tempo. Fix the survival failure first; extra AP cannot help a carry that does not remain on the field.

A practical build and testing plan for Rhiannon
- Identify the failed turn. Record whether the problem is insufficient damage, too few AP, a missing archetype trigger, or a defeated ally. This determines whether Rhiannon is solving the right problem.
- Set her support-first priorities. Use the survivability-oriented Resonance direction recommended by Prydwen instead of investing as though she were the team’s primary damage dealer.
- Evaluate the signature Psychube. Prydwen recommends The Soft Rain of Yesterday. Check its current in-game effect and your available materials before committing, because guide recommendations can change with balance updates.
- Plan the Ultimate turn. Hold her Ultimate for a round in which her AP-free reinforced incantations let an ally complete a high-value rotation. Using it without an action bottleneck may waste the feature that distinguishes her.
- Compare the same stage with the incumbent support. Keep the carry, difficulty, and general rotation constant. If Rhiannon does not change the failure point, the account may need a specialist or more investment elsewhere.
- Recheck after patches. Skill wording, balance, and recommended teams can change. Confirm the live English client before finalizing levels, Psychube resources, or Resonance materials.
How to choose when two supports both look good
Start with the damage engine
Write down what actually produces damage: ordinary incantations, follow-up attacks, rank-dependent effects, or indirect damage. Match that engine to the support whose defining mechanic affects it. Broad compatibility matters after this first filter, not before it.
Measure action-point pressure
For three representative turns, note how many AP the carry needs, how many the support needs, and which cards are discarded or delayed. Rhiannon’s advantage is largest when her own useful actions would otherwise compete with the carry’s cards.
Check the missing role
Ask whether the team needs offense or survivability. Rhiannon and Flutterpage generally answer offensive-tempo questions, Mercuria answers rank questions, and Kakania answers protection questions. A support who improves the wrong category can appear strong in isolation and still be a poor account investment.
Value account-wide reuse
If two candidates solve the immediate problem equally well, prefer the one you can place in more teams without displacing a specialist. Rhiannon’s broad profile can win this comparison for a developing roster; a mature account may prefer the sharper payoff of a dedicated engine support.

Common mistakes
- Treating archetype compatibility as archetype leadership. Rhiannon can fit several archetypes, but that does not mean she supplies every archetype’s signature trigger.
- Building for personal damage first. Her cited build direction favors survivability and support value. Turning her into a carry can undermine the reason to bring her.
- Using the Ultimate without an AP problem. The AP-free reinforced incantations matter most when allies need the saved action points.
- Ignoring indirect damage. Poison-focused teams may not scale strongly from her ordinary offensive buffs.
- Choosing from a static ranking. Guide rankings are snapshots. Team composition, account coverage, stage mechanics, and later patches can change the best choice.
- Replacing defense blindly. If Kakania’s interception is preventing deaths, removing that protection for more offense can make the team less reliable even when the theoretical damage is higher.

Before building, verify the live English skill descriptions, current patch, Psychube effects, Resonance recommendations, and team advice in your client and an up-to-date guide. New releases can also change the value of an open support slot. The durable decision rule remains the same: build the character whose mechanic fixes the failure your team is actually experiencing.
