The release does not give a detailed account of why the team undertook the rewrite, or provide before-and-after measurements. Here is what it documents—and what remains a project claim or interpretation.
What is Fission Falcon?
Fission Falcon is Reviactyl Panel v26.05.0, released on May 15, 2026. The project describes it as “our first great step into the future of game & application management software.” That is the release’s broad framing, not a detailed engineering rationale for the changes.

The title’s “rewrote Pterodactyl” phrasing should therefore be read cautiously. The release describes a significant stack update and a Designify rewrite, but does not document a complete backend rewrite, explain the migration strategy, or spell out the specific problems the team intended to solve. The most accurate answer to “why” is that the project presents Fission Falcon as a step forward and lists what it changed; it does not publish a fuller account of its reasoning.
What changed in the stack?
| Area | What the release says | What that establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Backend framework | Laravel 13 | The release names the framework version; it does not detail backend architecture or migration choices. |
| Frontend | React 19 | The release identifies the major version but does not state a React 19 point version. |
| Build tooling | Vite replaces webpack 5 | The release identifies the old and new build tools, but gives no implementation or build-performance comparison. |
| Admin panel | Uses FilamentPHP | The release names the framework used for the admin panel without describing its internal design. |
| Designify | Rewritten in FilamentPHP | This is a named rewrite; the release does not provide a migration account or feature-by-feature comparison. |
These are release statements, not evidence that every part of the product was rebuilt. Nor do they establish a particular performance, security, or maintainability outcome.

What do the version requirements mean?
For Reviactyl v26.05.0, the release states that PHP 8.3 is the minimum and recommends PHP 8.5. Laravel’s official Laravel 13 release notes list PHP 8.3–8.5 as supported, with Laravel 13 released on March 17, 2026. Laravel lists bug fixes through Q3 2027 and security fixes through March 17, 2028. Those dates describe Laravel’s framework support schedule, not Reviactyl’s own support commitment.
Reviactyl says React 19, but does not specify a point release. React’s React 19 announcement is dated December 5, 2024, and its upgrade guide recommends moving to React 18.3 first to surface warnings before upgrading. React later announced React 19.3 on September 9, 2026, but the Reviactyl release does not establish that it uses 19.3 or its newly stabilized APIs.

Does Fission Falcon prove Reviactyl is faster?
No independent performance comparison is documented in the release materials. Reviactyl’s homepage advertises “15x faster than Pterodactyl,” but the page does not explain a benchmark method, test conditions, or comparison setup. Treat the figure as a project claim, not an independently verified result. The same homepage says “3,600+ panels are using Reviactyl”; it does not provide a clearly dated methodology for that adoption figure.
Without comparable measurements, neither the stack changes nor the feature list establish that Reviactyl is faster or superior to Pterodactyl overall. They show what the project says it changed and added.

What can readers reasonably conclude?
Fission Falcon is a substantial release in terms of named technology changes and listed functionality. The documented stack moves to Laravel 13 and React 19, adopts Vite in place of webpack 5, and uses FilamentPHP for the admin panel and Designify rewrite. The release also specifies a PHP baseline and a wide range of panel features.
