What’s actually slowing this PC down?

First check the date. Nintendo’s Canadian listing gives the digital Nintendo Switch version of Reverie in the Moonlight a release date of November 19, 2026. A preorder can preload files, but it cannot be played until Nintendo makes the release-time update available. If you are trying to launch it before that date, the timing—not your console—is the explanation.
If November 19 has passed, work through the checks below in order: confirm the purchase account, resume the download, verify Nintendo’s online service, update the console and game, test the software in system memory instead of on a microSD card, and redownload. Contact Nintendo Support if a clean system-memory installation still will not start.

1. Check whether the game has actually released
Nintendo lists Reverie in the Moonlight as a digital Nintendo Switch title with a November 19, 2026 release date. The listing also indicates that Nintendo Switch 2 behavior is consistent with the Nintendo Switch version. It is a single-system game for one player, developed and published by room6.
A preload is not a playable copy
Nintendo’s eShop guidance says preorder software may preload roughly seven days before release. Preloading only transfers the encrypted game data to the console so that less downloading is needed on launch day. The software remains locked until the release-time update becomes available. Selecting the icon before that point can therefore produce a lock symbol, an unavailable-software message, or an apparent launch failure even when the download completed correctly.
#1 Best Overall
- Compatible with Nintendo-Switch (NOT Nintendo-Switch 2)
- Incredible speeds in a microSD card officially licensed for the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo OLED, and Nintendo Switch Lite systems
- Spend less time waiting and more time playing with read speeds up to 100MB/s(1) and write speeds up to 90MB/s(1).
- Instantly add up to 256GB (1GB=1,000,000,000 bytes. Actual user storage less.)
- Store your downloaded games, screenshots and video captures in 1 place so you can travel light.
What to do before November 19
- Leave the preorder installed rather than deleting it repeatedly.
- Keep the console connected to the internet and power. A docked Switch or a Switch Lite connected to AC power is less likely to pause a background download.
- Try the title again after the release date and after the console has downloaded the release-time update.
Do not treat a pre-release lock as evidence of corrupt data, a bad microSD card, or a failed purchase unless the same problem remains after the official release.
2. Confirm the purchase and the Nintendo Account that owns it
If the release date has arrived but the game is missing from the HOME Menu, first verify entitlement. Nintendo ties digital purchases to the Nintendo Account used at checkout. A different user profile can open the eShop but still show no owned copy.
- Open Nintendo eShop from the HOME Menu.
- Select the user profile that made the purchase.
- Check the account’s purchase history or virtual game cards for Reverie in the Moonlight.
- Confirm that the eShop balance or payment method was actually charged. A failed authorization, canceled transaction, or unfinished checkout does not create a downloadable entitlement.
- If the game is listed as owned, choose the redownload option. Nintendo says purchased games can be redownloaded at no additional cost.
If the title appears in the purchase account’s virtual game cards but not on the HOME Menu, the issue is normally installation or storage rather than ownership. If it is absent from that account, sign out of the assumption that the purchase succeeded and check the receipt or transaction record before troubleshooting the console.

- EASY CONTENT MANAGEMENT. Easily back up, organize, and transfer your photos and videos with the SANDISK Memory Zone desktop or Android mobile app[5].
3. Resume a download that is stuck or never starts
A download can pause when another game or application is running. Use Nintendo’s download controls before deleting anything.
- Save any open game and close it completely.
- From the HOME Menu, open User Settings.
- Select Update Download Progress.
- Wait for the progress indicator to change. If nothing happens, restart the Switch and repeat the command.
- Place the console in its dock, or connect a Switch Lite to AC power, and leave it in sleep mode for up to two hours. Nintendo notes that this can allow an eShop download to begin or continue.
Do not launch another demanding game while testing the download. Closing running software removes one of the conditions that can pause eShop transfers and makes the result easier to interpret.
If progress repeatedly stops at the same point
Record whether the download stops at a consistent percentage, produces an error code, or returns to the download button. A consistent stop after a restart points more strongly to storage or data corruption; a changing stop point is more compatible with a connection or service interruption. Continue with the service and storage checks rather than repeatedly pressing download.

- Nintendo Switch 2 uses a new standard of expandable memory card called microSD Express (sold separately). This kind of memory card is needed for faster access speeds and to ensure games will run smoothly.
- Please note: Nintendo Switch 2 is only compatible with microSD Express cards. If the microSD cards you have used for Nintendo Switch do not support microSD Express standards, you cannot use them with Nintendo Switch 2.
4. Check Nintendo’s service status and your connection
Nintendo directs users to check its Network Maintenance Information/Operational Status page for outages or scheduled maintenance. An eShop interruption can make an owned game look unavailable, prevent a release-time update from arriving, or leave a download in a waiting state.
Recommended Free Tools
- Check the operational-status page before changing console data.
- Confirm that the Switch can reach the internet using its saved network connection.
- If you purchased the game from another device, verify that the console meets Nintendo’s requirements for an off-device purchase to appear and download.
- Retry after an outage has ended. A service-side failure cannot be repaired by formatting a microSD card.
When the service is operating normally, return to the eShop using the purchasing account and start the redownload there. Keep the console online until the game icon appears and the installation finishes.
5. Update the system and the game before repairing launch errors
Launch errors can result from an outdated system or an incomplete game update. Install available updates before performing a deeper reinstall.

- Open System Settings and install the latest Nintendo Switch system update.
- Return to the HOME Menu and highlight Reverie in the Moonlight.
- Use the software-options menu to check for a game update and install any update offered.
- Restart the console, then try the game again.
On a pre-release preorder, the release-time update may not be offered until November 19, 2026. In that case, an absent update is expected rather than evidence that the installation is damaged.
6. Check for corrupt data and redownload
If the title is released, purchased, updated, and still refuses to launch, use the Switch’s built-in corrupt-data check. This tests the installed files without immediately deleting your save data.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Open System Settings.
- Go to Data Management, then the software-management area for Reverie in the Moonlight.
- Run Check for Corrupt Data and allow the check to finish.
- If the console reports damaged files, select Redownload when that option is offered.
- If redownload is unavailable, delete the software installation and download it again from the purchasing account’s virtual game card or eShop page.
Deleting the software installation is different from deleting its save data. Follow the on-screen wording carefully and do not choose a save-data deletion command when you only need to remove the game files. A fresh download replaces incomplete or damaged program data while preserving the entitlement tied to the Nintendo Account.

7. Isolate the microSD card
Nintendo’s launch-error guidance specifically recommends testing the console without a microSD card when problems persist. The key diagnostic question is whether the failure follows the card.
| Test | How to perform it | What the result suggests |
|---|---|---|
| Install on the current microSD card | Redownload normally after updates and the corrupt-data check. | If the game still will not launch, the card or its stored data may be involved. |
| Install in system memory | Power down as directed by Nintendo, remove the microSD card, then redownload the game to system memory. | If the system-memory copy launches, storage on the card is the likely fault area. |
| Use another compatible card | Format or replace the existing card with a Nintendo Switch-compatible microSD card, then download again. | A successful installation on the replacement card indicates the original card should not be trusted for this title. |
How to use the result
If a system-memory installation works, keep the game there while you replace or reformat the card. If the game fails identically in system memory, the microSD card is less likely to be the cause; continue with account, service, update, and support checks.
Nintendo’s cited guidance does not endorse a particular microSD brand or capacity. The relevant requirement is compatibility with Nintendo Switch, not a specific manufacturer.
8. Match the symptom to the right fix
| Symptom | First action | Next action if it remains |
|---|---|---|
| “Reverie in the Moonlight won’t download” before November 19, 2026 | Confirm that it is a preorder and that the release date has not arrived. | Leave the console online and retry after the release-time update becomes available. |
| Download stuck or waiting | Close running software and choose User Settings > Update Download Progress. | Restart, then leave the console docked or on AC power in sleep mode for up to two hours. |
| “I purchased the game, but it is not on the HOME Menu” | Open the eShop with the purchasing Nintendo Account and check virtual game cards. | Redownload from that account after confirming the charge. |
| Game icon appears but launch fails after release | Install system and game updates, then run the corrupt-data check. | Redownload; if necessary, delete the software installation and download again. |
| Error continues while using a microSD card | Remove the card and install the game to system memory. | Format or replace the card, then retry. |
| Failure continues from system memory after a clean redownload | Confirm Nintendo service status and the purchasing account once more. | Contact Nintendo Support with the error code and the steps already completed. |
9. When to contact Nintendo Support
Escalate when all of the following are true:
- The November 19, 2026 release date has passed.
- The purchasing account shows the game as owned and the transaction was charged.
- Nintendo’s service-status page shows no relevant outage.
- The console and game are fully updated.
- Corrupt-data checking and a redownload have been completed.
- You tested a redownload to system memory without the microSD card.
Nintendo’s official error guidance directs users to Support when those recovery steps fail. Include the exact on-screen error code, whether the problem occurs during download or launch, whether the game was installed to system memory or microSD, and whether another download works. That information helps Support distinguish an entitlement issue, service problem, storage fault, or console-specific failure.
10. What is confirmed about this Switch release
| Item | Confirmed detail |
|---|---|
| Title | Reverie in the Moonlight |
| Platform | Nintendo Switch; the Nintendo listing says Nintendo Switch 2 behavior is consistent with Nintendo Switch. |
| Edition | Digital. |
| Developer and publisher | room6. |
| Players | Single system, one player. |
| Release date | November 19, 2026. |
The practical decision is therefore straightforward: before release, wait for the authorized launch update; after release, verify ownership, resume the download, repair or redownload the files, and test system memory before asking Nintendo to investigate.
