ReSkate, an independent community project, has been reported running on a Steam Deck OLED through Proton Experimental. It also offers an offline play option that EA’s official skate. service does not. That is a report from one user, not a Valve or EA compatibility certification—and ReSkate does not make EA’s online service offline.
What ReSkate changes—and what it does not
EA describes skate. as an always-online skateboarding sandbox and says the official game has no offline mode. In its FAQ, EA answers the question “Will skate. have offline mode?” with “The simple answer: No.”

ReSkate is a separate community project that runs alongside a Steam copy of the game. Its project README describes offline play with locally stored profile and progress, Steam-hosted lobbies, dedicated servers, and mod support. Those are ReSkate features, not features added to EA’s official service. The project says it is not affiliated with or endorsed by EA or Full Circle.

The build number is a compatibility pin that can change, not a promise that every update will work. Check the current README and release notes before installing.

What the Steam Deck report actually establishes
A Steam Deck community post published October 3, 2026 reports that ReSkate 1.0.3 ran locally on a Steam Deck OLED using Proton Experimental. It is a useful indication that one setup worked for one user, but it does not demonstrate compatibility across all Deck models, Proton or SteamOS versions, or game updates. The report is not independent testing or formal support from Valve, EA, or Full Circle.
The sources do not establish expected frame rate, battery life, stability, graphics settings, or how reliably other players can reproduce that setup. The ReSkate README gives general installation instructions, not a definitive Steam Deck-specific Proton guide.

What you need before trying it
- A Steam copy of skate.; the ReSkate README says the project requires one.
- A ReSkate release containing
ReSkateLauncher.exeandReSkate.dll. - The game build currently supported by ReSkate. The launcher validates the build, and the README says it can retrieve the supported build through your Steam account when needed.
How the general ReSkate setup works
- Read the current ReSkate README and release notes to confirm the supported game build and current instructions.
- Download a ReSkate release and extract
ReSkateLauncher.exeandReSkate.dll. - Run the launcher. According to the README, it checks for or updates ReSkate and validates that the installed game matches the supported build. If needed, it can retrieve that build through your Steam account.
- When validation is complete, press Play in the launcher.
These are the project’s general setup steps; they do not specify the precise Steam Deck steps for adding or launching the Windows executable through Proton. The single OLED report using Proton Experimental should not be treated as a complete guide for other configurations.

The README says mods can be installed through Thunderstore from the launcher. It warns that custom scripts can run code, so install only mods you trust. ReSkate’s offline mode and community-hosted multiplayer are also distinct from the official EA service; using the project does not change EA’s online-only policy.
