Which Resident Evil monsters did Leon need help fighting?
The clearest source-backed examples in the available official material are not confirmed cases of a monster Leon could not defeat solo. Capcom’s promotion for the Resident Evil 4 remake (2023) singles out Leon’s confrontation with Krauser and shows him preparing to face two Gigantes. Those descriptions establish dramatic, high-stakes encounters—not that either required assistance.

Krauser is also a human antagonist, not a monster or B.O.W. The Gigantes are the more direct fit for a monster-focused list, but the cited trailer description does not say a companion must help Leon defeat them.

Capcom Promotion Producer Edvin Edsö’s February 23, 2023 PlayStation Blog post describes trailer footage of Leon preparing to tackle two Gigantes. That is evidence of a daunting two-opponent encounter. It is not evidence that a partner intervenes or that the story makes help necessary.

Krauser in Resident Evil 4 (2023 remake)
Edsö describes “the iconic confrontation between Krauser and Leon,” and the post discusses footage of Leon on the floor fending off Krauser’s knife attack. This supports calling the duel dangerous and intense. It does not establish that Leon needs another character to win, and Krauser should not be counted as a monster.
What counts as “couldn’t beat alone”?
The phrase can mean several different things, and they should not be treated as interchangeable:

- Tactical support: an ally creates an opening or helps manage the threat, but the story does not establish that the assistance is indispensable.
- Available support: a companion is nearby, or a game offers co-op, without showing that Leon requires help in the story.
- External aid: equipment or a scripted intervention helps Leon, which is different from another character fighting beside him.
To say a creature is one Leon “couldn’t beat alone” in the strict sense, the game’s narrative would need to show that assistance is necessary—not merely that an ally is present or the fight is difficult. The official material cited here does not verify such a case.
Why the game and version matter
Capcom’s chronology distinguishes the original Resident Evil 2 (1998) and Resident Evil 4 (2005) from their remakes, Resident Evil 2 (2019) and Resident Evil 4 (2023). An encounter’s staging or available assistance in one version should not automatically be attributed to another.

Capcom also identifies Leon’s first Raccoon City arrival in Resident Evil 2 and his storyline in Resident Evil 6 in its official Leon feature. That page provides franchise context, including a scene involving Leon’s partner Helena, but does not establish a comprehensive list of monsters that Leon could not defeat alone.
