Capcom says the Switch version of Resident Evil 5 includes Gold Edition content and lets you play alone or with a friend. The current Xbox and PlayStation listings for Resident Evil 6 say they include all DLC. Bundle format matters too: the North American and Latin American Switch Triple Pack puts Resident Evil 4 on a cartridge but supplies download vouchers for Resident Evil 5 and 6.
Which edition should you buy?
| Your priority | Edition to consider | Check before buying |
|---|---|---|
| Resident Evil 5 co-op and extra story or modes on Switch | Switch digital Resident Evil 5 or the Switch Triple Pack | The Triple Pack uses download vouchers for RE5 and RE6. Confirm redemption and region details. Capcom’s Switch announcement specifies this format for North American and Latin American retail copies. |
| Resident Evil 6 with DLC on Xbox | The current Xbox RE6 listing | The listing says all DLC is included. Online multiplayer on console requires a Game Pass subscription tier. Check the Xbox product listing for the offer and platform available in your region. |
| Resident Evil 6 with DLC on PlayStation | The PS4 RE6 listing, playable on PS5 subject to compatibility details | The PlayStation listing says all DLC is included and PS Plus is required for online play. Check the listing for current platform and compatibility details. |
| All three classic games in one Xbox offer | Xbox Resident Evil Triple Pack | Microsoft describes it as including RE4 (2005), RE5, and RE6, with DLC modes, costumes, and expansions. Verify the platform and offer for your region. See Microsoft’s listing. |
| All three games as a Switch retail package | Switch Resident Evil Triple Pack | Only RE4 is on the cartridge; the other games are download vouchers, as described in Capcom’s announcement. |
Compare four things: included DLC and extra modes; local versus online co-op; platform and subscription requirements for online play; and whether a boxed copy relies on download codes. Treat price as a final, changeable check rather than a permanent feature of an edition.

What co-op and extra content do you get?
Resident Evil 5
Capcom describes Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar as the game’s two operatives and says you can play alone or with a friend. The Switch version includes Gold Edition content, including additional story content that returns to the mansion, as well as The Mercenaries United. Capcom’s description is in its announcement of the Switch versions.
That makes the Switch edition a straightforward option if your priority is RE5 co-op plus the Gold Edition extras. If you choose the retail Triple Pack, remember that the game is provided as a voucher rather than on the cartridge.

- Players take on the role of Leon S Kennedy
- Mission to save the president's daughter from danger
- Challenging environments and strategic combat scenarios await
Resident Evil 6
The Xbox and PlayStation product descriptions both say their current RE6 editions include all DLC. Sony lists one to two players and online play for up to six with PS Plus; it also says online play is optional. Xbox lists local and online co-op, along with online multiplayer capabilities: local co-op for two to four, online co-op for two to four, and online multiplayer for two to six.
Those are storefront capability labels, not confirmation that every campaign mode supports the maximum number shown. If a particular campaign setup matters to your group, check its player requirements rather than assuming the store’s broad maximum applies to every mode. The relevant listings are PlayStation’s product page and Xbox’s product page.

How do the Triple Pack editions differ?
Switch: one cartridge, two vouchers
Capcom specifies that North American and Latin American retail copies of the Switch Triple Pack include RE4 on cartridge and download vouchers for RE5 and RE6. Buying the box does not mean all three games are stored on the cartridge. Check the codes’ redemption requirements and regional compatibility before purchasing; do not assume this exact physical format applies in other territories.
Xbox: a bundle described as complete with DLC
Microsoft’s Xbox Triple Pack listing names RE4 (2005), RE5, and RE6, and describes the bundle as complete with DLC modes, costumes, and expansions. Confirm that the offer shown in your store matches your console and region before checkout.

What changes by platform?
- Switch: Capcom says the versions of RE5 and RE6 add gyroscopic and motion controls. The Switch retail bundle has the mixed cartridge-and-voucher format described above.
- Xbox: The listed RE6 product supports Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The Xbox store’s online multiplayer on console requires a Game Pass subscription tier; check the current store terms for which tier applies.
- PlayStation: The listed RE6 product is for PS4 and can be played on PS5 subject to system software and compatibility details. PS Plus is required for online play.
Capcom’s Switch details are in its announcement; consult the platform pages for the current Xbox and PlayStation terms.
Are current store prices a useful way to choose?
At retrieval, the Xbox listing displayed RE6 at $19.99+ and the Triple Pack at $49.99+; the PlayStation page displayed $19.99 and $49.99, respectively. These are observed storefront prices, not fixed prices or a promise of current availability. Sales, region, taxes, and offer eligibility can change what you pay, so check the target store at checkout.

What about the PC version?
Steam’s search-result description says RE6 has four story threads with solo or co-op play and that seven Extra Content stages previously released as console DLC come standard on PC. That statement is specific to the PC version and should not be extended to other platforms. The available PC package information here does not establish a current price.
