1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe Reolink OMVI 3i WiFi is a good fit for homeowners who want a wide overview of a yard or entrance and a close-up tracking camera on the same mount, and who can supply mains power and a solid fixing point. It is not a battery or solar camera, and it is heavy enough that installation is a real job. In the hands-on test published by TechRadar, image quality and combined coverage stood out, while occasional panorama stitching faults and tracking stutter on fast-moving targets were the main weaknesses.
What the camera actually is
The OMVI 3i pairs two camera assemblies in one housing. The upper unit is a dual-lens panoramic camera that gives a 180-degree overview. The lower unit is a 4K pan-and-tilt camera that handles close-up detail. Reolink describes the combined output as 18 MP total resolution, made up of the 10 MP panoramic pair and the 8 MP pan-and-tilt camera.

| Assembly | Resolution (per Reolink) | Role in use |
|---|---|---|
| Upper dual-lens panoramic unit | 10 MP | Wide 180-degree overview that stays on screen at all times |
| Lower pan-and-tilt unit | 4K, 8 MP | Close-up tracking or manual direction toward detail |
| Combined | 18 MP total | One camera occupying one NVR channel when used with a recorder |
The practical appeal is that you do not have to choose between seeing the whole scene and seeing a face or number plate. The panorama gives context, and the lower camera zooms in on whatever matters. Reolink’s support documentation states that both views are displayed simultaneously in the Reolink App.
Power, mounting and weatherproofing
The WiFi version runs on a DC 12 V / 2 A adapter, so the mounting position must be within reach of a power outlet or a suitable supply. Do not plan this camera around a battery or solar panel. Power access is the first decision to make, before you think about the view.

- Important Notice: Please ensure your Reolink NVR firmware is updated to version 3.6.4 or later. Earlier versions will only display dual-lens camera footage and will not show the PTZ camera view. Current Reolink client (Windows: v8.21 or later, and Mac (v.8.21) is available in two builds: Apple Silicon and Intel) supports dual-screen display when connected to Reolink NVR/Home Hub/Home Hub Pro. Please check the Q&A section for more details.
- High-Resolution Triple-Lens Coverage: Total 18MP triple-lens system: 10MP dual-lens panoramic camera for 180° wide view, plus an 8MP PT camera for zoomed-in detail. Full-scene + close-up display ensures no blind spots. (Note: pixel composition 10MP+8MP).
- SyncTrack & Auto Tracking: When motion is detected by the panoramic camera, the PT camera instantly locks on and tracks the object. Dual-screen view provides full coverage, even if the target leaves the panoramic field. Close-up tracking zooms in automatically for extra detail.
- Smart AI Detection & Perimeter Protection: Advanced AI Detection reduces false alerts while accurately identifying people, vehicles, and animals. Set custom virtual fences or intrusion zones to get instant alerts before threats reach your property. Non-motion zones can further reduce false alarms.
- Multi-Scenario Night Vision: Switch between full-color night vision using white light and IR LED mode automatically. Motion-triggered white light paired with alarms deters intruders effectively. 24/7 recording ensures continuous protection.
Reolink lists three official mounting options: wall, ceiling and corner. For corner installation the RLA-BKC1 V2.0 corner bracket is needed and is sold separately. The official guidance is:
- Install at a height of 2.5 to 3.5 m (8 to 11 ft).
- Avoid direct light sources and windows that will shine into the lens.
- Avoid heavily shaded areas where the picture will be dark.
- Expect a heavy, bulky unit: TechRadar’s reviewer described it as needing a secure mount, a drill, screws and wall plugs.
Reolink’s FAQ says the camera is IP66 weatherproof. TechRadar’s reviewer used it outdoors, so the outdoor suitability is supported by that test as well as the rating.
Storage and recorder compatibility
You have three storage routes, and they carry different trade-offs.

Set custom virtual fences or intrusion zones to get instant alerts before threats reach your property. Non-motion zones can further reduce false alarms.
- FLEXIBLE RECORDING OPTIONS AND 24x7 NVR RECORDING: The Reolink IP Cameras can record videos with sound 24x7, then transmit HD recordings to Reolink PoE network video recorders. This NVR supports up to 16 cameras recording simultaneously to the built-in 4TB HDD. For more space, an extra 8TB HDD can be added.
- PoE, EASY SETUP WITH PLUG & PLAY: PoE with only one Ethernet cable (up to 330ft) for Reolink PoE Cameras to transmit both power and data. You can live view and access the cameras with or without the internet as Reolink PoE NVR can make an independently running system itself with the DHCP function.
- Compatibility depends on both hardware and current firmware. Out-of-date NVR firmware may show only the panorama in live view, not both views.
- The camera occupies one NVR channel even though it presents two views, so count channels when you plan a multi-camera system.
How the two views are presented can also differ between the app, a client and a monitor, so test the layout on the screen you actually plan to use.

Detection and tracking features
Reolink lists person, vehicle and animal detection, along with three features that define the camera’s character:
- Pinpoint: tap or click a point in the panorama and the lower camera moves to that position.
- SyncTrack: the panoramic and close-up views track separately but continuously, so the overview and the detail stay in step with the same subject.
- Auto Framing: the camera zooms and frames detected targets automatically.
Supported firmware and app versions matter for these functions, and some depend on a compatible NVR. Confirm the feature list against your firmware version before you buy for a specific feature.

What the independent hands-on test found
TechRadar’s reviewer used the camera outdoors for seven days, with the unit facing a back garden. These are that reviewer’s observations rather than a guarantee of performance in every setting.
Strengths in that test
- Sharp 4K close-ups from the lower camera.
- A broad panorama that gives useful context for the whole scene.
- Tap-to-direct behaviour that the reviewer found useful in practice.
- Strong integrated spotlights.
Weaknesses in that test
- Stitching faults: the reviewer saw occasional stitching problems between the panoramic lenses.
- Tracking stutter: fast-moving targets caused stutter or temporary loss of tracking.
- Field of view: the wide view can take in neighbouring property or public walkways. Placement and detection exclusion zones need attention before you finalise the installation.
The reviewer explicitly did not test the removed-item alert feature. Treat that function as unverified until you have tried it yourself.
Price and availability
TechRadar’s review gave these prices at the time it was written: $329.99, £259.99 and AU$439. It also reported a £220 offer at Amazon UK. Those are dated snapshots, not current prices, and offers change quickly. Check the price, the exact product variant and the stock status at the retailer before you buy.

Who should buy it, and who should look elsewhere
The OMVI 3i WiFi makes sense when most of these are true:
- You have a mains power point at the mounting location.
- You have a solid wall, ceiling or corner that can take a heavy, bulky mount.
- You want a wide view and a close-up camera from one unit, and one NVR channel is acceptable.
- The field of view will not pick up neighbouring windows or public paths in a way you cannot manage with placement or exclusion zones.
- You accept occasional stitching faults and tracking stutter on fast targets.
Look elsewhere if you need battery or solar operation, a lightweight mount, a camera that tracks very fast movement without stutter, or a view that must avoid neighbouring areas entirely. TechRadar’s comparison table names the IMOU AOV PT and the Reolink Solar Floodlight Cam as alternatives. Their suitability differs, particularly on power source and coverage, so compare them against the criteria above rather than on price alone.
Setup checklist before you buy
- Confirm a 12 V DC power route to the mounting point.
- Choose wall, ceiling or corner mounting, and buy the RLA-BKC1 V2.0 separately if you need a corner bracket.
- Plan a height of 2.5 to 3.5 m (8 to 11 ft), away from direct light and windows.
- Decide on storage: a microSD card up to 512 GB (not included), cloud storage, or a compatible NVR or Home Hub.
- If using an NVR, check the firmware on both devices and the number of channels available.
- Set detection exclusion zones to keep neighbouring property and public walkways out of frame.
