What you can do is change which apps may access sensitive data and features, such as the camera, microphone, location, and contacts. The menu route depends on your Tecno model and its software version, so the steps below show the common pattern and how to confirm the exact labels on your device.
Two meanings of “removing permission control”
The phrase can mean two different things, and only one of them is possible.

- Changing an app’s permissions. This is supported. You grant or deny an app access to a specific capability, and you can reverse that decision at any time.
- Removing the permission-management feature. This is not supported. Android’s official privacy guidance presents permission management as a user privacy control that the device owner uses, not an optional component that users normally strip out. The official Android and Android Open Source Project material reviewed for this article does not describe a method for eliminating it on Tecno phones.
If your goal is to stop an app from reading your photos or tracking your location, the first option is the one you need. Everything that follows assumes that goal.
Change permissions for a single app
This is the most direct route when you already know which app is causing a problem or which access you want to limit. The labels below are the common Android pattern; Tecno’s HiOS may group or name them differently.

- Open Settings.
- Select Apps, App management, or a similar entry that lists installed apps.
- Tap the app you want to adjust.
- Select Permissions.
- Tap a permission such as Camera, Microphone, or Location, then choose the option you want.
Available options vary by permission and Android version. Location is the clearest example: Android has offered more than a simple on-or-off choice for location access, so you may see separate options for while using the app, one time, or denied. If your device offers an approximate versus precise setting for location, you can restrict an app to approximate location while still allowing it to work.
Review permissions by category with Permission Manager
If you want to audit every app that can use a given capability, use Permission Manager instead of opening apps one by one. Android describes it as a central place to access and control sensitive app permissions. On many Tecno phones it sits under a Privacy or Security and privacy section of Settings, but the exact location is model-specific.

- Open Settings and search for Permission manager, or browse to Privacy or Security & privacy and look for it there.
- Select a category such as Camera, Microphone, Location, or Contacts.
- Review the list of apps and change any that should not have that access.
Android’s privacy guidance states: “Manage all your permissions in one place.” That statement appears under the “Permission manager” heading on Android’s own privacy page, which describes the general Android behavior rather than a specific Tecno screen.

Denying a permission can stop a feature from working as intended. A camera app cannot take a photo without camera access, and a navigation app cannot show your position without location access. This follows directly from how the permission works, not from a Tecno-specific test. You can return to the same screen at any time and grant the permission again if the app needs it.

When the menu names do not match
Tecno phones run HiOS on top of Android, and menu labels change between HiOS versions and between models. If you cannot find an entry described above, try these checks in order:
- Use the search bar at the top of Settings and type permission.
- Check the user guide for your exact model on the official TECNO Official Support page, which links to phone, HiOS, and download resources.
- Contact TECNO or Carlcare support with your model name and software version if the setting is absent.
Confirm your model and software version under Settings before consulting a guide, because a guide written for a different HiOS version may show different labels.

Permissions that reset automatically for unused apps
Some permission changes happen without you touching anything. Android can automatically reset permissions for apps that have not been used for a while. The Android Open Source Project’s PermissionController documentation covers this auto-revoke behavior. This is a separate mechanism from the permission controls you manage yourself, and it does not remove the permission system. If an app that you use rarely asks for a permission again, that is the likely reason. Grant the permission in the same Permission Manager or app permission screens described above.
