On an accessible Samsung Galaxy A03, remove the Google account from Settings > Accounts and backup > Manage accounts. Tap the Google account, choose Remove account, and confirm. Do this before a factory reset if you are selling or giving away the phone. If the A03 has already been reset and now asks for the previous Google account, it is a different situation: the phone is enforcing Factory Reset Protection (FRP), and you must verify ownership with the required screen lock or Google credentials.

First identify which situation you have

The correct solution depends on whether you can still open the phone and why you want the account removed. Removing an account in Settings is a normal preparation step; it is not the same as trying to get around a verification screen after a reset.

Phone state What you see Appropriate action
Accessible You can reach the home screen and open Settings. Remove the Google account through the account-management screen, then reset if needed.
Reset and protected Setup stops at a request for the former screen lock or Google account. Provide the requested ownership credentials. If you cannot, use Samsung’s authorized-service route with proof of purchase.
Still in your possession for continued use You want to stop syncing or remove one account but keep using the A03. Remove only the selected account; do not reset the phone unless you actually need a full erase.
Being transferred to someone else You want your personal data and account association cleared. Back up what you need, remove the account while the phone is accessible, and then perform the factory reset.

The Galaxy A03 variant, region, and installed Android version are not specified, so every handset may not show identical wording. Samsung notes that menu labels can change by model and software version.

Remove the Google account while the Samsung A03 is accessible

1. Protect anything you still need

Before changing accounts or erasing the phone, copy photos, contacts, messages, authenticator data, and other files you intend to keep. A factory reset permanently deletes personal information and data stored on the device. If the phone is going to another person, check the backup from a separate device before continuing; a reset is not a temporary recycle-bin operation.

  • Immersive 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate, offering smooth scrolling, vibrant colors, and enhanced contrast for watching videos, gaming, or browsing social media. The large screen is ideal for multitasking, allowing apps and media to feel spacious and engaging even in a single glance.

2. Open the account-management screen

  1. Unlock the Galaxy A03.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Tap Accounts and backup.
  4. Tap Manage accounts.

This is the current path described in Samsung’s guidance for account removal. The wording can differ on older software. If you do not see Accounts and backup, look for an account list under Cloud and accounts > Accounts or for Accounts > Google. The objective is the screen that lists accounts registered on the phone, not the Google app’s profile page.

3. Select the Google account

Tap the Google entry you intend to remove. If more than one Google account is listed, read the email address carefully before confirming. Removing the wrong entry can leave the intended account on the phone and create confusion during a later handoff.

4. Choose Remove account and confirm

Tap Remove account, then approve the confirmation prompt. Samsung may ask for the device PIN, password, or unlock pattern as a security check. Enter the device credential, not a Google password, when the prompt is specifically requesting the screen lock.

5. Verify the result

Return to the account list and confirm that the selected Google address is no longer shown. If you are keeping the phone, open the apps that depended on that account and sign in with another account only if you need those services. If you are transferring the phone, stop here only long enough to confirm the removal, then follow the reset preparation sequence below.

Why removal must happen before a factory reset

Google and Samsung describe Factory Reset Protection as a theft-deterrent control. A reset performed without first removing the Google account can cause the setup process to request the previous owner’s account credentials. Samsung UK support describes the purpose this way: “This feature is designed as a safeguard to prevent unwanted people from using your device if they managed to reset it without your permission, for example, if it was lost or stolen.”

Removing the account while you can unlock the phone tells the device that the transfer is authorized. It helps prevent the next user from encountering your account’s FRP prompt after the reset. It does not replace the need to back up data or to know the device’s unlock credential for the reset process.

Safe sequence for selling or giving away the A03

  1. Back up personal data. Confirm that important files and contacts are available somewhere other than the A03.
  2. Remove the Google account. Use the Settings path above while the phone is still accessible.
  3. Check for other accounts. Review the account list for additional Google entries or other accounts you also intend to remove. Select each account deliberately; do not assume one removal covers every account.
  4. Start the factory-reset controls. Use the reset option provided in the phone’s Settings and read each warning. Samsung’s reset process requires the device PIN, password, or unlock pattern.
  5. Allow the erase to finish. Keep the phone powered during the reset and initial restart. Interrupting the process can leave setup incomplete.
  6. Stop at the first-run welcome screen. Do not sign back in with your own Google account after the erase if the phone is going to someone else.

The exact reset-menu wording can vary with the A03’s software version. Follow the on-screen factory-data-reset instructions rather than relying on a path from a different Galaxy model.

When the A03 is already asking for the previous Google account

A prompt that appears during setup after a reset is not an ordinary account-removal screen. It indicates that device protection is active. Google says a protected device reset requires either the screen lock or the Google account password associated with the device. Use the same credentials that were accepted on the phone before it was reset.

If you are the original owner

  • Try the screen lock that was set on the A03 if setup offers that option.
  • Otherwise enter the Google account address and password previously used on the device.
  • Check spelling and keyboard layout carefully; a different account, even one belonging to you, may not satisfy the protection check.
  • If you recently changed the Google password and the phone rejects it, avoid repeated guesses. Use Google’s official account-recovery process from another device, then follow the instructions presented for the protected A03.

The protection prompt is doing its intended job: it prevents a person who merely obtained a reset phone from completing setup without proof of ownership. There is no supported shortcut in the guidance cited here that bypasses this check.

If you bought the phone used

Ask the previous owner to complete the account-removal process while signed in to the phone, then reset it again from Settings. A remote promise that the account was deleted is not a substitute for removing it from the device before the reset. Keep your purchase documentation in case Samsung service needs to establish ownership.

If you cannot provide the credentials

Samsung advises a locked-out owner to take the device and proof of purchase to an authorized Samsung Service Centre. Bring the A03, a valid receipt or other ownership evidence, and any information the service centre requests. Do not rely on third-party “FRP bypass” applications, videos, or codes; the official support route is ownership verification and authorized service.

Troubleshoot the Settings procedure

“Accounts and backup” is missing

Use Settings search for accounts, manage accounts, or Google. On older Samsung software, inspect Cloud and accounts > Accounts and Accounts > Google. The A03’s exact Android version and regional software determine which label appears.

There is no Remove account button

First confirm that you opened the account entry from the phone’s account list, rather than a profile page inside an individual app. Scroll within the account details page; the action may be below synchronization settings. If the account is managed by an organization or the device is subject to administrative controls, an administrator may restrict removal. In that case, contact the organization responsible for the device instead of attempting an unsupported workaround.

The phone asks for a PIN, password, or pattern

This is normally the device’s security confirmation. Enter the unlock method currently configured on the A03. If you cannot unlock the phone at all, you cannot complete the normal Settings removal procedure; use the ownership-support path rather than repeatedly guessing.

The account still appears after confirmation

Reopen Manage accounts and check the exact email address. If it remains, repeat the action only after confirming that the phone completed the first confirmation. Restarting the phone and checking the account list again can distinguish a delayed display from an unsuccessful removal. Do not factory-reset until the account you intend to remove is no longer listed.

You have several Google accounts

Handle them one at a time and record which addresses have been removed. For a transfer, leaving any Google account on the device can associate the reset with an account the next user does not control. For personal continued use, remove only the account you no longer want on that handset.

Decision guide: what to do next

Your immediate screen Next step Do not do
Home screen or Settings Open Manage accounts and remove the selected Google account. Do not reset first if the phone is being transferred.
Reset warning before erase Back up data, confirm the device credential, and ensure the account is removed. Do not assume a reset will remove FRP automatically.
Google verification after reset Enter the former screen lock or associated Google password. Do not treat the prompt as a menu-label problem.
Locked out without credentials Use an authorized Samsung Service Centre with proof of purchase. Do not promise or depend on an unofficial bypass.

Key points to retain

  • The normal way to remove a Google account from an accessible Samsung A03 is Settings > Accounts and backup > Manage accounts > Google account > Remove account.
  • Menu names vary by model and operating-system version; older paths may use Cloud and accounts > Accounts or Accounts > Google.
  • Back up first because a factory reset permanently deletes personal information and requires the device PIN, password, or pattern.
  • Remove the account before resetting a phone that will change hands to reduce the chance of an FRP verification prompt for the next user.
  • After a reset, the former screen lock or associated Google credentials are the supported verification methods. A locked-out owner should use Samsung’s authorized service process with proof of purchase.
