Consider a third-party Paper Pure case when you specifically need a permanently attached cover, a different carrying style, or a lower price—but verify the model name, pen storage, return terms, and real-world fit. A reMarkable 2 case should not be assumed to fit: reMarkable says its paper tablets have different dimensions, and Paper Pure measures 228.1 × 187.1 mm and 6.0 mm thick.
Official folio or third-party case: the decision in one view
The two options solve slightly different problems. The Sleeve Folio is a padded sleeve designed around Paper Pure. It wraps around the tablet and Marker rather than remaining attached as a book-style cover. reMarkable says the device wakes when removed and locks when returned. Its construction is specified by the manufacturer: foam padding, rigid polycarbonate plates molded to the tablet’s shape, and a stated weight of 215 g (0.47 lb).

A third-party case may be a sleeve, shell, folio, or flip cover. Listings discussed by users include TiMOVO and MoKo cases that explicitly name Paper Pure. One Reddit commenter described a tight TiMOVO fit and said it worked with the Marker, but that is one buyer’s report, not an independent durability or compatibility test. Availability, materials, dimensions, and prices can change, so treat every listing as something to verify rather than as proof that a design will fit your tablet.

Why Paper Pure fit is model-specific
Do not use “fits reMarkable” as a sufficient compatibility statement. reMarkable says its paper tablets have different dimensions and that the Paper Pure Sleeve Folio will not work with another reMarkable tablet. The Paper Pure specification is 228.1 × 187.1 mm with a thickness of 6.0 mm. A case molded for a different tablet can be too short, too loose, or misaligned even when the products look similar in photographs.

What to verify in a listing
- The product title or compatibility section says reMarkable Paper Pure, not only “reMarkable,” “reMarkable 2,” or “10.3-inch tablet.”
- The seller provides internal dimensions, a model number, or a clear statement that accommodates 228.1 × 187.1 × 6.0 mm.
- Photos show the actual Paper Pure layout, including the Marker position and any openings or magnets.
- The listing distinguishes a Paper Pure case from a reMarkable 2 case. Similar screen size is not proof of identical dimensions.
- The seller offers a practical return route if the case arrives too tight, too loose, or incompatible with your Marker.
If any of these points is missing, classify compatibility as unconfirmed rather than assuming a fit from reviews of another model.
What the official Sleeve Folio is designed to do
It is a removable sleeve, not a permanent cover
The Sleeve Folio wraps around the Paper Pure and Marker. It is intended for carrying and protection, so writing normally means taking the tablet out. That differs from a folio that stays hinged to the tablet on a desk. If you want to annotate while the cover remains attached, a third-party flip-style design may suit you better—but only if its listing confirms writing clearance and a secure hinge or shell.
Protection is specified, not inferred
reMarkable describes foam padding and rigid polycarbonate plates molded to the tablet’s shape. Those materials indicate a padded, structured sleeve, but they do not establish a drop rating, water resistance, or protection against every impact. Keep the manufacturer’s stated construction separate from performance claims that have not been independently tested.
Automatic wake and lock can simplify carrying
According to reMarkable’s description, removing the Paper Pure from the Sleeve Folio wakes it and returning it locks it. This behavior is part of the official accessory’s intended interaction with the tablet. A third-party cover may protect the hardware just as well for your use, but no general claim about automatic wake or lock can be made for all third-party cases.

Weight and travel trade-off
The official folio weighs 215 g (0.47 lb). Add that to the Paper Pure’s own weight and any Marker accessories when estimating a bag’s total load. Third-party products may be lighter or heavier, but a comparable figure is not established for the TiMOVO or MoKo examples discussed by users. If weight is decisive, look for a measured accessory weight in the specific listing rather than relying on a photograph or material name.
What third-party cases can add—and what remains uncertain
More form factors
Third-party sellers may offer a book-style flip cover, a hard shell, a sleeve with a separate Marker loop, or a case intended to remain attached during writing. These designs can solve needs the official sleeve does not, such as opening the cover beside the tablet or keeping the Marker tethered to a shell. The exact advantages depend on the individual product; “third-party case” is not one standardized design.
Named examples are not endorsements
A user discussion names TiMOVO and MoKo Paper Pure cases. One commenter reports that a TiMOVO case held the device tightly and worked with the Marker. That experience is useful as a question to investigate—does the case hold the tablet securely and leave room for the Marker?—but it is not evidence of long-term reliability, drop protection, manufacturing consistency, or fit across every seller and production batch. No independent test establishes either brand as the better choice.

1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsUnknowns to resolve before ordering
- Internal fit: Does the tablet slide in without force, and does it stay in place when the case is inverted?
- Edge coverage: Are corners and edges protected without overlapping the display or interfering with touch input?
- Marker retention: Is there a loop, channel, magnet, or separate pocket, and does it hold the exact Marker you use?
- Writing position: Can the Paper Pure remain attached while writing, or must it be removed?
- Clearances: Do seams, clasps, magnets, or lips press against the tablet or Marker?
- Materials: Is the shell rigid, padded, fabric-covered, or a combination? The material affects bulk and cleaning, but a material label alone does not prove impact performance.
- Returns: Can you return an incompatible case after checking the fit, and are return postage or restocking fees disclosed?
Compare the cases using the needs that matter in daily use
1. Carrying versus writing
Choose the official Sleeve Folio if your priority is a compact protective wrap that you remove before writing. Choose a third-party flip or shell only when it explicitly supports your desk workflow. Check whether the cover folds flat, where the folded portion rests, and whether the hinge leaves enough room for your hand. A listing that says “flip case” does not by itself prove that the tablet can be used comfortably without removing it.

2. Pen storage
The official sleeve is designed around the tablet and Marker. For a third-party case, identify exactly how the Marker is retained. A narrow elastic loop may hold it securely but add pressure when the case is closed; a loose pocket may protect the tip but allow the Marker to move; a magnetic channel may depend on the case’s alignment. The product photographs should show the Marker in place, not merely beside the case.
3. Bulk and protection
A rigid shell can protect edges while adding less fabric bulk than a padded sleeve, but the trade-off depends on the shell’s thickness and corner design. A soft sleeve can be easier to pack but offers less structural rigidity. The official Sleeve Folio’s 215 g specification gives you a concrete reference point. For a third-party product, compare listed weight and closed dimensions if supplied; otherwise mark the difference as unknown rather than guessing.
4. Appearance and materials
The official accessory is available in the material options shown on reMarkable’s current regional product page. Third-party cases may use fabric, synthetic leather, molded plastic, or mixed construction. Appearance is personal, but seams, surface texture, and closures affect practical issues such as cleaning, friction in a bag, and whether the case can be opened one-handed. These details should be evaluated from current photographs and specifications because sellers can change materials without changing a generic product name.

5. Wake and lock behavior
If you want the tablet to wake when you take it out and lock when you put it away, the official Sleeve Folio is the option with that behavior described by the manufacturer. Do not assume a third-party magnetic flap will trigger the same functions. Unless the seller documents compatibility with Paper Pure’s wake-and-lock behavior, treat the case as a physical accessory only.

How to check a third-party listing before buying
- Capture the exact model name. Save the title, compatibility text, and any model or revision number. Listings can contain several reMarkable generations in one menu.
- Match the dimensions. Compare the tablet specification—228.1 × 187.1 mm and 6.0 mm thick—with the case’s stated internal dimensions. External dimensions are not enough because padding and lips reduce usable space.
- Inspect every image. Look for the Paper Pure in the case, the Marker stored in its intended place, corner coverage, and openings that align with the tablet. Generic renderings are weaker evidence than photographs of the actual product.
- Read recent reviews for fit symptoms. Give more weight to reviews that state the tablet model and describe tightness, movement, Marker retention, and writing comfort. A review about reMarkable 2 does not establish Paper Pure compatibility.
- Check the return policy before opening the package. Note the deadline, condition requirements, restocking charge, and return-shipping responsibility. Keep packaging until the fit check is complete.
- Record the price and seller. Prices and stock are volatile. A current US price was not established for the named TiMOVO or MoKo examples, so use the checkout page for your region rather than an old screenshot or forum comment.
Safe fit-check procedure after delivery
Perform the first check on a clean, flat surface with the tablet powered down or locked. Do not force the Paper Pure into a case that feels undersized; pressure at an edge can damage the device or make removal unsafe.
- Open the case fully and remove loose packaging, labels, or protective films that could change the fit.
- Place the Paper Pure into the case without the Marker. Confirm that all corners seat evenly and that no edge is bowed.
- Run a finger around the perimeter. There should be no hard seam pressing into the display, ports, or buttons, and the case should not obscure the writing area.
- Close the case gently. Check that the cover does not press on the screen and that the clasp, magnet, or elastic is not pulling the tablet sideways.
- Add the Marker to its holder. Confirm that it is retained when the case is tilted and that the tip is not forced against a hard surface.
- If the case is intended for writing without removal, place it on a desk and write several lines near each edge. Watch for a raised lip, hinge, or folded cover that catches your hand.
- Lift the closed case a few centimetres over the desk and move it gently. The tablet should not slide or rattle. Stop immediately if you hear movement or feel pressure.
- Test the wake-and-lock behavior only if the seller explicitly claims support. If it does not work, do not treat that as a defect unless the listing promised the function.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Assuming a reMarkable 2 case fits
Paper Pure’s dimensions are different, and reMarkable explicitly says its Sleeve Folio is not interchangeable with another reMarkable tablet. Filter every search by Paper Pure and reject listings that use only a screen-size description.
Confusing a sleeve with a flip cover
The official Sleeve Folio is removed for writing. If you need a cover that stays attached, verify that the third-party design supports that use. A sleeve photograph can look like a folio until you check how the tablet is held.
Treating one buyer comment as a product test
The TiMOVO fit report is anecdotal. It does not establish that every unit fits tightly or that the case survives drops. Use community comments to identify questions, then rely on the current listing, dimensions, and return terms for your purchase decision.

Using an old or regional price
The official product search result once displayed a $69 Polymer Weave Sleeve Folio, while the opened product page showed localized euro prices. That difference illustrates why a search snippet is not a dependable current US price. Confirm the price and currency on the US-facing checkout page at the time you buy.
Ignoring the Marker until the end
A case can fit the tablet and still fail your workflow if the Marker pocket is too loose, too tight, or absent. Make pen retention part of the initial compatibility check, not an afterthought.
Which option fits common use cases?
| Your priority | More suitable starting point | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Guaranteed Paper Pure-specific design and documented construction | Official Sleeve Folio | reMarkable specifies compatibility, foam padding, rigid polycarbonate plates, and 215 g weight. |
| Automatic wake on removal and lock on return | Official Sleeve Folio | That behavior is described for the official accessory; it is not established for third-party cases generally. |
| Writing while a cover remains attached | A third-party case that explicitly supports in-case writing | The official product is a removable sleeve, so verify hinge, lip, and hand-clearance details in the alternative. |
| A specific pen loop, shell, or flip-cover layout | Third-party case | Third-party designs may offer form factors the official sleeve does not, but model fit must be confirmed. |
| Lowest verified purchase risk | Whichever seller has the clearest Paper Pure compatibility and return policy | Price alone does not compensate for an incompatible case or expensive return. |
| Known accessory weight for packing calculations | Official Sleeve Folio | The manufacturer publishes 215 g; comparable weights for the named third-party examples were not established. |
Practical buying checklist
- Is “Paper Pure” printed in the compatibility statement?
- Do the internal dimensions accommodate 228.1 × 187.1 × 6.0 mm?
- Will you remove the tablet to write, or must the cover stay attached?
- Where does the Marker go, and is it secure when the case is tilted?
- Does the case protect corners without covering the display or controls?
- Is automatic wake-and-lock behavior documented, or are you buying physical protection only?
- What are the accessory’s closed dimensions and weight?
- What is the current price in your country and currency?
- How long is the return window, and who pays return shipping?
- Can you keep the packaging until the fit and writing checks are complete?
Bottom-line recommendation
Buy the official Paper Pure Sleeve Folio when certainty matters more than a permanently attached cover. It is the only option in this comparison with manufacturer-stated Paper Pure compatibility, foam and rigid-polycarbonate construction, a 215 g weight, and documented automatic wake-and-lock behavior. Choose a third-party case only for a specific advantage—such as a flip cover, a different pen holder, or a preferred carrying style—and make the purchase conditional on explicit Paper Pure fit, clear photographs, current dimensions, and a workable return policy. The TiMOVO and MoKo examples show that alternatives exist, but the available user evidence is too limited to declare either one universally reliable.
