What the reported fall sale actually offered
REI’s deals listing described the offer as “up to 50% off past-season styles” from Patagonia, The North Face, Arc’teryx and more. That applies to selected past-season items, not every product made by those brands. The listing’s publication date and a current end date are not stated, and live October 7 prices, inventory and availability have not been confirmed. Check REI’s deals listing for current offers before making a purchase.

Tom’s Guide reported on September 27, 2026 that REI’s fall sale was in progress, with discounts of up to 50% on selected outdoor apparel, including the three named brands. Why the 51% claim is not the sale-wide maximum
Men’s Journal reported on September 18, 2026 that one item—the Patagonia Light Gust Hooded Insulated Pullover—was $137 at REI against a stated regular price of $279, describing it as 51% off. That is an item-specific report, not evidence that REI’s broader fall sale offered up to 51% across the named brands. The report’s price, model details and stock should be checked against a live retailer listing before relying on them. See the item-specific report.

REI’s Labor Day Sale is a separate, finished event
REI announced that its Labor Day Sale ran from August 28 through September 7, 2026. Its selected offers included 25% off selected REI Co-op clothing and gear, 25% off all Darn Tough socks, 20% off Thule and Yakima racks, roof boxes and accessories, and up to 50% off clearance. Those were the terms of that past event, not proof of current fall-sale offers. REI’s Labor Day announcement gives the dates and historical offer details.
REI’s newsroom index displayed the Labor Day announcement among recent news on October 7, but did not show a newer fall-sale announcement. Since the cited reports do not provide a verified technical comparison of the discounted selection, choose by the garment and your needs rather than assuming one brand is the best deal. On each live listing, check:
- Intended use: Decide whether you need casual layering or clothing for active outdoor use.
- Warmth and insulation: Match the garment’s construction and warmth to the conditions you expect.
- Weather protection: Check the product listing for the protection relevant to your plans; do not infer it from the brand name.

The named Patagonia pullover is a specific product to search for, but its reported September price is not a verified October price. Amazon availability and an equivalent Amazon offer have not been established, so check each retailer independently.
