The Xiaomi Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G has an unusually large 8,340 mAh battery and delivers strong endurance in published testing—but the evidence does not establish it as a market-wide battery-life record holder. Its appeal is clearest if long runtime and a bright display matter more than gaming speed, low-light photography or zoom.
Does the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G have record-breaking battery life?
It has a very large battery, but “record-breaking” is not supported as a definitive industry ranking. Newsbytes.PH reported 22 hours and 32 minutes in its PCMark Work 3.1 battery test in 2026. That is a result from one review test, not a prediction of screen-on time or days between charges for every user; workload, brightness, connectivity and settings all affect real-world runtime.

Xiaomi lists an 8,340 mAh silicon-carbon battery and promotes “60-hour battery endurance” and “Beyond 2-day battery life” on its product page. Those are manufacturer claims, not independent test results. A separate Xiaomi Poco X8 also has an 8,340 mAh battery, so that capacity is not unique to the Redmi model.

Xiaomi specifies 67 W wired HyperCharge and up to 22.5 W wired reverse charging for the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G. Notebookcheck measured approximately 65 minutes for a charge using a Xiaomi 2500 power bank; that result applies to the review’s setup, not every charger or charging condition. The phone does not support wireless charging, according to Notebookcheck.

Notebookcheck says its test unit’s package included a USB-C cable, SIM eject tool, protective case and warranty card, while the 67 W HyperCharger was sold separately. Check the regional retail package and charger compatibility before buying, since box contents and accessories can vary by market.
What else does the phone offer?
Display and durability
Xiaomi lists a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display and IP66/IP68 protection. The manufacturer says the phone passed a TÜV SÜD 2-meter, 72-hour water-resistance test, describing this as protection against everyday splashes. Its underwater mode is limited to static freshwater up to 2 meters deep for up to 30 minutes; Xiaomi excludes seawater, pools, hot water and professional diving. Do not treat the rating as permission for unrestricted swimming or submersion.

Performance, cameras and other trade-offs
Notebookcheck’s October 2026 review praises the bright display, robust build, battery endurance and long update support, but describes its overall impression as mixed. It criticizes the processor and camera, particularly low-light and zoom results, and also notes plastic construction, Wi-Fi 5 and speakers lacking depth. Newsbytes.PH likewise finds graphics performance modest and reports that video recording tops out at 30 fps.
Which version and price should you expect?
Pricing and configurations vary by region, so these published prices are reference points rather than a global price list.

The different regional lineups are a reason to verify the exact memory and storage variant, current local price and included accessories before choosing. The German figures are not current worldwide prices, and the Philippine review’s configurations should not be assumed to be sold elsewhere.

- Consider it if a large battery, strong tested endurance and a bright AMOLED screen are priorities, and your everyday apps do not demand high graphics performance.
- Look carefully at alternatives if you rely on gaming performance, dependable low-light or zoom photography, or higher-frame-rate video.
- Compare locally on endurance tests conducted under the same conditions, configuration and price, charger availability, wireless charging, camera performance and durability limits. Battery capacity in mAh alone does not tell you which phone lasts longer in use.
Notebookcheck compares the Redmi with phones including the Samsung Galaxy A57, Xiaomi Poco X8 Pro, Xiaomi Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G and Nothing Phone 4a. Comparisons are most useful when the tested configurations and methods match; do not treat results from different regional variants or unlike tests as directly interchangeable.
