But it is a refinement, not a major performance upgrade. The Redmi Note 13 4G can be better value at a substantial discount, and it has an 8MP ultrawide camera that the newer phone lacks.
This comparison covers Xiaomi’s UK-listed 4G models—not the Note 13 5G, Note 14 5G or either Pro model. Both are 4G-only phones.
Quick verdict: which Redmi should you buy?
- Choose the Redmi Note 14 4G if the price gap is small and you value battery capacity, Gorilla Glass 5, selfies or a newer software starting point.
- Choose the Redmi Note 13 4G if it costs substantially less, you want an ultrawide camera, or you prefer a lighter phone and a UK package that lists a charger.
- Keep your Note 13 4G unless a specific Note 14 improvement addresses a need you have. The display, charging speed, 4G connectivity and broad performance class remain similar.
There is no universal price threshold: compare the same storage tier, local warranty and package contents. Xiaomi’s UK specifications list the Note 13 with 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB options; the Note 14 listing includes 6GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB. Prices and configurations vary by market and retailer.
Redmi Note 14 4G vs. Note 13 4G specifications
The figures below are from Xiaomi’s UK specification pages, so they should not be treated as universal for every regional variant. Confirm the exact model, bands, NFC availability and box contents before buying an imported phone.

Design and display: similar screens, different size and glass
Both phones have a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Xiaomi lists the same 1800-nit peak brightness for each, so the specification sheet does not support calling the Note 14 brighter. The newer phone’s clear screen-related advantage is Gorilla Glass 5 rather than Gorilla Glass 3; neither type of glass is indestructible.
The Note 14 is larger and heavier in Xiaomi’s UK figures: about 2.6mm taller, 2.6mm wider and 0.19mm thicker, and 11.5g heavier. That makes the Note 13 the more portable option on those specifications, not the Note 14. Third-party listings report different Note 14 dimensions and weight, so use the specifications for the exact market and model you are considering rather than combining figures from different variants. See Notebookcheck’s report noting different dimensions.
The Note 14 UK specification also lists 960Hz PWM dimming and additional display certifications. Those details may matter to people comparing display behavior, but they do not establish that the screen will be more comfortable for everyone.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsPerformance: a new chip, not a proven leap
The Note 13 uses Qualcomm’s 6nm Snapdragon 685, rated up to 2.8GHz with Adreno 610 graphics. The Note 14 uses MediaTek’s 6nm Helio G99-Ultra, rated up to 2.2GHz with Mali-G57 MC2 graphics. Their clock speeds cannot be compared directly because the processors use different designs.
Both are intended for everyday budget-phone tasks such as messaging, browsing, navigation and video streaming. Neither should be bought as a serious gaming phone. There is no controlled, same-version test here that establishes a clear winner in gaming or sustained performance, so the Note 14’s newer name alone is not evidence of a large speed improvement. Xiaomi advertises 400,000-plus AnTuTu points for the Note 13 under its own laboratory conditions; that manufacturer figure should not be treated as directly comparable with a result from a different phone, benchmark version or test setup. Xiaomi’s Note 13 product page also describes that test as a company claim.
For heavier multitasking, prefer a configuration with 8GB of physical RAM. Both specifications list a hybrid SIM/microSD arrangement, so using a memory card may mean giving up the second SIM slot. Any memory-extension option uses internal storage; it is not a substitute for physical RAM.
Cameras: the Note 13 keeps the ultrawide
Rear cameras
Both phones list a 108MP main camera. That shared resolution does not prove equivalent image quality, and it does not show that one phone has better dynamic range, low-light performance or processing.

The important difference is camera versatility. The Note 13 adds an 8MP ultrawide camera alongside its 2MP macro camera. The Note 14 replaces that ultrawide with 2MP depth and 2MP macro cameras. For landscapes, architecture, group shots or tight indoor spaces, the Note 13 offers a wider perspective the Note 14’s listed rear cameras do not.
The Note 14 can record rear video at up to 1080p/60fps, compared with 1080p/30fps on the Note 13. That is a specification advantage for smoother motion capture, not proof of better overall video or still-image quality.
Selfie cameras
The Note 14’s front camera is listed at 20MP and f/2.2, versus 16MP and f/2.4 on the Note 13. It has the higher-resolution specification, though the final result also depends on processing and lighting.
Camera specifications: Note 13 and Note 14.
Battery and charging: more capacity, same rated charging
Xiaomi lists a typical 5500mAh battery for the Note 14 and 5000mAh for the Note 13. The Note 14 therefore has more rated capacity, which is a sensible advantage for buyers who prioritize endurance. It does not guarantee a particular number of extra hours: actual runtime depends on use, signal, brightness, software and other conditions.
Both support 33W wired charging in the cited UK specifications. Package contents differ: Xiaomi’s UK Note 13 listing includes a 33W adapter, while its Note 14 listing says no power adapter is included. Check the box contents for your country and retailer; where an adapter is absent, account for the cost of a compatible one when comparing the total purchase price.
Software and support: HyperOS is newer, but updates are not guaranteed by name
Xiaomi’s UK pages list MIUI 14 for the Note 13 and Xiaomi HyperOS for the Note 14, giving the newer model a more current starting point. That does not, by itself, establish how many Android-version or security updates either phone will receive. Check Xiaomi’s official support information for the specific region and model before treating update duration as a buying guarantee.
Xiaomi’s Note 13 product page describes a 48-month “fluid experience” based on internal software-aging tests. This is a manufacturer claim about that testing, not a promise of four years of major Android updates or uninterrupted real-world performance. See the Note 13 product page and the Note 13 specifications.

Both phones carry an IP54 rating in the cited UK specifications. This means dust and splash resistance under specified laboratory conditions, not waterproofing or safe submersion. The Note 14’s Gorilla Glass 5 is a better glass specification than the Note 13’s Gorilla Glass 3, but a case and screen protector can still be useful.

The cited UK specifications list dual-SIM standby, a hybrid SIM/microSD slot, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, a 3.5mm headphone jack, an IR blaster, an in-screen fingerprint reader and dual speakers with Dolby Atmos for both phones. Both have NFC listed, but Xiaomi notes that NFC availability can vary by market. The Note 14 moves to Bluetooth 5.3 from the Note 13’s Bluetooth 5.1; this is a specification improvement, not a guarantee of a noticeable everyday difference.
Neither phone is a 5G model. LTE bands, NFC, storage configurations and other features can vary by region, so buyers importing either device—especially into the United States—should verify the exact model number and carrier bands and features before purchase. Official UK specifications: Note 13 and Note 14.
Which phone is the better value?
There is no reliable single current price for these phones across countries, storage tiers and retailers, so the comparison is best made using local like-for-like offers. Include warranty and package contents in the calculation: a Note 14 that needs a separately purchased adapter may cost more to set up than its sticker price suggests.
- Small price gap: The Note 14 is the stronger new-phone buy for its larger battery, newer software starting point and tougher glass specification.
- Moderate gap: Decide whether those gains outweigh the Note 13’s ultrawide camera, lighter body and, in the cited UK package, included charger.
- Large gap: The Note 13 is likely the better value if its condition, warranty and battery are satisfactory.
Do not compare a high-storage Note 13 with a lower-storage Note 14 on sticker price alone. Check the exact configuration, seller, condition and local support terms.

Should Note 13 owners upgrade?
Usually, no. The Note 14’s battery capacity, glass, selfie-camera specification and newer software are real reasons to consider switching, but the everyday experience remains close in several important areas: both are 4G phones with similar displays, 33W charging, 108MP main-camera resolution and budget-class processors.
An upgrade makes more sense if your Note 13’s battery no longer suits you, you specifically want the Note 14’s glass specification or selfie camera, or you are ready to replace the phone for another reason. If your Note 13 is working well and you value its ultrawide camera, a model-number increase alone is not a strong reason to replace it.
Which one should you buy?
For a new purchase at similar prices, choose the Redmi Note 14 4G. Its larger battery, Gorilla Glass 5 and newer software make it the more rounded option, though not a substantial performance upgrade. If the Note 13 4G is much cheaper—or you want its ultrawide camera, lighter body or UK-listed charger—it remains a sensible value choice. If you already own a Note 13, keep it unless one of the newer model’s specific advantages solves a problem for you.
