If you’re deciding before October 15, 2026, the ASUS ROG Phone 9 is the phone you can assess from a published specification sheet; the RedMagic 12 Pro+ is not yet a confirmed retail alternative. RedMagic has scheduled its launch event for October 15 at 14:30, but its event notice does not confirm the phone’s final specifications, price, first-sale date, or availability by country. That makes a definitive winner premature. If you can wait, compare the final 12 Pro+ details and local listings after launch. If you need a phone now, judge the ROG Phone 9 against devices currently sold in your country rather than treating RedMagic announcements as proof of retail performance.
What is confirmed about each phone?
RedMagic 12 Pro+: announced, but not fully specified
RedMagic’s October 8, 2026 announcement schedules a new-product event for October 15 at 14:30. It does not establish the complete retail spec sheet, price, first-sale date, or regional availability. Those details remain pending until RedMagic publishes them. RedMagic’s event notice

In a separate September 23 announcement, RedMagic named the 12 Pro+’s chipset as the “第六代骁龙8超级至尊版,” translated in the manufacturer’s headline as “sixth-generation Snapdragon 8 Supreme Edition.” This is a manufacturer announcement, not an independent performance result. Availability and local price
The ROG Phone 9 has an official specification page, but that does not establish current stock or street price in your country. RedMagic’s event notice gives no confirmed price or country-by-country sale date. Check local listings after October 15 before comparing what the phones actually cost where you live. Gaming speed and sustained performance
ASUS identifies the ROG Phone 9’s processor, and RedMagic has announced a chipset name for the 12 Pro+. Neither announcement is a fair head-to-head benchmark. For demanding games, wait for independent tests of the final 12 Pro+ and compare sustained frame rates and temperatures under similar conditions; do not infer a performance winner from the chip names alone. Display and gaming controls
The ROG Phone 9’s documented display reaches 185Hz in Game Genie. The event notice does not establish comparable 12 Pro+ display, shoulder-control, or touch-feature specifications. Compare those features only after RedMagic publishes the full model-specific details; features on earlier RedMagic phones are not confirmation for this one. Cooling and long sessions
The ROG Phone 9 supports the optional AeroActive Cooler X Pro, but the accessory’s existence is not proof of better measured thermals or frame rates. For both phones, look for tests that report noise, comfort, temperatures, and sustained frame rate during comparable sessions. RedMagic’s model-specific cooling claims and the 12 Pro+’s real-world thermal behavior are not established by the launch notice. ASUS ROG Phone 9 product page RedMagic’s event notice

Durability and daily use
ASUS lists IP68 for the ROG Phone 9. The examined RedMagic event notice provides no comparable rating for the 12 Pro+, so wait for its final certification before comparing water and dust resistance. For camera quality, software support, ergonomics, and battery life, rely on reviews of the retail versions: the published specifications here do not establish comparative results for those areas.
