The REDMAGIC 12 Pro is an announced, upcoming gaming phone built around Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. REDMAGIC says it combines a 2nm Oryon processor, an 8,400mAh battery, 80W wireless charging, a dual-loop liquid-cooling system and an AMOLED display reaching 185Hz. Its price and exact release date are not public, so the claim that it will be a mid-range-priced “hellcat” cannot yet be verified.
What REDMAGIC has confirmed
REDMAGIC announced the 12 Pro as a flagship gaming smartphone, but says detailed specifications, design information, software features, launch timing and availability will follow later. The company’s announcement is therefore a hardware preview rather than a complete retail specification sheet.

Why the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 matters for gaming
REDMAGIC describes the chip as using a next-generation Oryon CPU manufactured on a 2nm process. The company also cites prime cores running at up to 5GHz and a next-generation Adreno GPU. Those figures indicate an ambitious performance target, but they are manufacturer claims, not test results. There is no supplied benchmark showing frame rates, thermal throttling, battery drain or performance against another phone.

The practical question for a gaming phone is not just peak speed. Long sessions depend on whether the processor can hold performance after heat builds up, whether the phone’s software manages frame pacing, and whether the battery and cooling system can sustain that load. Until independent testing is available, the 12 Pro’s gaming advantage remains a specification promise rather than a measured result.
How the dual-loop cooling system is described
REDMAGIC says the 12 Pro uses a dual-loop design that combines three named elements: an upgraded turbo fan, a vapor chamber and Liquid Metal 4.0. The company calls it the first mass-produced dual-loop system. That wording describes REDMAGIC’s own product positioning; it does not establish an independently verified industry-first ranking.
Turbo fan
The fan is intended to move heat away from the internal cooling hardware during demanding play. Fan performance will ultimately be judged by airflow, acoustic output and how aggressively the software controls it, none of which REDMAGIC has specified.

Vapor chamber
A vapor chamber spreads heat over a larger area before it reaches the fan and the phone’s outer surfaces. Its usefulness depends on its size, placement and contact with the processor, details not yet released for the 12 Pro.
Liquid Metal 4.0
Liquid-metal thermal material can transfer heat efficiently between a chip and its heat spreader, but the phone’s announcement does not state the material’s composition, serviceability or long-term performance. Independent teardown and sustained-load testing will be needed to assess the complete system.
An unusually large battery, with wireless charging
The headline capacity is 8,400mAh, a substantial figure for a gaming handset. REDMAGIC also says the phone supports 80W wireless fast charging. The announcement does not provide a wired-charging figure, a charger specification or an endurance test, so capacity alone cannot predict how many hours the phone will last in a particular game.

What the 185Hz AMOLED display could mean
The 12 Pro is specified to reach a 185Hz refresh rate on a full-screen AMOLED panel, with slimmer bezels. A higher refresh rate can make menus, scrolling and supported games look smoother, but it does not guarantee that a game will render at 185 frames per second. Game support, resolution and the phone’s thermal state still determine the experience.
REDMAGIC has not published the panel’s resolution, brightness, touch-sampling rate or supplier. Those omissions matter to players who use the phone outdoors, rely on fast touch response or prefer a particular screen size and aspect ratio.

Is the REDMAGIC 12 Pro worth it?
It is too early to give a price-based verdict. The phone has an appealing list of announced gaming hardware: a new Snapdragon platform, an 8,400mAh battery, 80W wireless charging, a claimed dual-loop cooler and a 185Hz AMOLED display. However, the information needed to judge value—retail price, memory options, software-support policy, dimensions, weight, cameras, water resistance and independent performance tests—has not been released.
For a buyer deciding whether to wait, the sensible checklist is:
Recommended Free Tools
- Wait for the regional price and exact storage/RAM configurations.
- Check independent long-session tests for sustained performance, surface temperature, fan noise and battery drain.
- Confirm whether the advertised 185Hz mode is available at the desired resolution and in the games you play.
- Verify wired charging, charger contents, warranty coverage and after-sales support in your country.
- Look for a firm international shipping date rather than relying on an announcement window.
Release timing, availability and price
As of 16 October 2026, REDMAGIC has announced the 12 Pro but has not published a final launch date, shipping date, regional availability list or retail price. REDMAGIC says availability information will be released later. Notebookcheck’s report supports an international release, but it does not establish when orders will open in any particular country.

There is also no confirmed Amazon stock, launch promotion or price tier. Calling the phone “mid-range priced” before those figures appear would be speculation. Prospective buyers should compare the final regional total—including taxes, delivery, warranty and charger requirements—once official sales information is available.
Bottom line
The REDMAGIC 12 Pro currently looks like a high-spec gaming-phone proposition, not a fully documented product. Its strongest confirmed features are the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platform, 8,400mAh battery, 80W wireless charging, claimed dual-loop cooling and up-to-185Hz AMOLED display. Whether it becomes a genuinely strong-value “hellcat” depends on the price, launch configuration and independent tests that REDMAGIC has not yet supplied.
