Red Echoes: Berlin is a political narrative strategy game about the German Revolution of 1918–1919, with the January 1919 Spartacist uprising at its center. Its Steam demo is available now; the full game is planned for Q1 2027, a window rather than a confirmed launch date.

Developed and published by Morningrise Games, Red Echoes: Berlin places its story in Berlin during the upheaval that followed World War I. The broader German Revolution began in 1918; the Spartacist uprising in Berlin is associated with January 1919. The game’s framing covers that larger 1918–19 period, rather than treating the uprising as the whole revolution. The Steam listing describes the premise as follows: “Take control of the story of three fictional characters, each from a different section of society, and attempt to support the brewing socialist uprising in Germany and bring about real change.”

The playable protagonists are fictional people from different social backgrounds, not Rosa Luxemburg or Karl Liebknecht. Those historical figures appear among the wider cast, while the protagonists give the story a perspective below the level of the best-known revolutionary leaders.
How does the game play?
In his October 8, 2026 demo preview for PC Gamer, Joshua Wolens describes a blend of visual novel and board-game-like turn strategy. Players move the three characters around a map and use their distinct abilities to influence revolutionary fervor, reactionary zeal, and pressure. Narrative decisions can also change the board; some choices involve accepting a short-term compromise in hopes of a longer-term gain.

Wolens says the map draws on Weimar-era graphic design and changes as red revolutionary and yellow reactionary sentiment spreads. He found the early demo relatively forgiving and praised its writing; those are his impressions of the demo, not a guarantee of the final game’s difficulty or a broader critical consensus.
Can you play it now?
Yes. The separate Steam demo listing gives August 5, 2026, as its release date. It is single-player and lists English interface and subtitles. PC Gamer also reported that the demo was playable on October 8, 2026.

The full game is not yet available on Steam. Its store page lists Q1 2027 as the planned release window, which may change. Steam estimates a three-to-four-hour story split into three chapters; that is the listing’s estimate, not an independently timed playthrough.
What kind of history-minded player might enjoy it?
The game’s appeal is the combination of political choices and map-level strategy, seen through fictional residents rather than a campaign led directly by famous figures. It appears aimed at players interested in narrative decisions and compact, turn-based planning as much as at readers curious about the revolution itself.
