Realme showed an interchangeable-lens smartphone concept at MWC 2025, but it is not a phone customers can buy: the company said the prototype had not been mass-produced. It pairs a customized one-inch Sony sensor with an external lens mount, and realme claimed the setup could deliver 10x lossless zoom. That performance figure has not been independently verified in the cited coverage.
What realme showed at MWC 2025
The prototype was presented at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona as an experiment in bringing interchangeable camera lenses to a smartphone. Realme described a customized one-inch Sony sensor and a special mount for attaching external lenses. Its announcement characterized the device as a concept, not a mass-produced product: realme’s MWC 2025 announcement.

Two lenses were demonstrated: a 73mm portrait lens and a 234mm telephoto lens. Realme said the system could provide 10x lossless zoom. That is the company’s claim, not an independently established test result; the cited reports do not provide independent image-quality measurements.
How the swappable-lens design works—and what it does not establish
The key difference from an ordinary multi-camera phone is the external mount: instead of relying only on built-in camera modules, the concept accepts a separate lens. DPReview identifies the mount as M-mount and reports compatibility with existing full-frame M-mount lenses. That does not mean an M-mount lens attaches to an ordinary Realme phone; the compatibility described is specific to this prototype’s mount.

Unlocked design supports global mainstream network bands, compatible with various operators, perfect for daily communication, travel and outdoor scenarios.
DPReview also reports that the prototype does not supply power to autofocus motors and has no electrical contacts for EXIF data. Those omissions limit electronic communication between phone and lens. The source does not establish whether every lens function could be controlled manually or how the phone’s software would handle different lenses.
There is a physical trade-off, too: a large lens can be heavy and awkward on a slim phone. The concept’s promise of using camera lenses therefore comes with handling considerations that built-in phone cameras avoid. See DPReview’s report on the M-mount design and its limitations.

Can you buy the Realme interchangeable-lens phone?
No retail availability is established. Realme said the concept had not been mass-produced, and the cited coverage does not give it a confirmed consumer product name, price, or release date. Gadgets 360 likewise distinguishes the MWC showcase from a mass-produced phone: Gadgets 360’s MWC 2025 coverage.
