Display: 15R has the higher refresh rate; GT 7 is listed as LTPO
The OnePlus 15R’s listed 165 Hz refresh rate is higher than the GT 7’s 120 Hz. That may appeal if you specifically want a very high refresh rate, but the difference you notice depends on supported apps and content. The GT 7’s LTPO AMOLED panel is a distinct listed specification; the 15R comparison listing identifies its screen as AMOLED but does not specify LTPO.
The panels are close in size: 6.83 inches for the 15R and 6.78 inches for the GT 7. The comparison listing also gives resolutions of 1272 × 2800 and 1264 × 2780, respectively. Those figures alone do not establish which screen looks better in everyday use.

Performance: the chipset names do not settle the winner
The GT 7 uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400e, while the 15R uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. These are different platforms, and the cited material does not provide comparable independent testing of both phones. A chipset name, or benchmark figures collected under different conditions, is not enough to establish which device performs better in games, sustained workloads, or daily use.

Cameras: GT 7 adds a listed telephoto camera
The clearest hardware distinction is zoom: the GT 7’s rear-camera listing includes a 50 MP telephoto camera with up to 2× optical zoom. The 15R listing names a 50 MP main camera and an 8 MP ultrawide but no telephoto camera. That gives the GT 7 a dedicated zoom option on paper; it does not prove better image quality overall.
Both phones list a 50 MP main rear camera, and both list a 32 MP front camera. OnePlus identifies the 15R’s main sensor as Sony IMX906 and describes its front camera as autofocus. Megapixel counts and sensor names do not, by themselves, show how the cameras compare in detail, low light, motion, or video.

Battery and charging: capacity is not runtime
OnePlus lists a 7,400 mAh battery for the 15R; realme lists 7,000 mAh for the GT 7. The 15R therefore has 400 mAh more stated capacity, but capacity alone cannot establish which phone lasts longer between charges. No controlled head-to-head battery-runtime result is provided in the cited material.
realme advertises 120 W charging and claims a 0–100% charge in 40 minutes under its stated conditions. TechRadar lists 80 W charging for the 15R and measured a 0–100% charge in 1 hour 25 minutes in its review. These figures are not an equal-conditions comparison: one is a manufacturer claim and the other a reviewer’s measurement. Check the precise model’s regional specifications and what is included with the phone if charging equipment matters to your purchase.
Software support: the available figures are not an even comparison
TechRadar reports that the OnePlus 15R receives four years of software updates and six years of security patches. Treat those periods as the publication’s report, and confirm the official policy for the regional model if longevity is important. The cited realme product information does not establish an equivalent GT 7 support period, so it would be misleading to declare the 15R’s policy longer based on this evidence alone.
Which phone should you buy?
Choose the realme GT 7 if
- You want to pay less at a comparable live price; the cited India snapshot showed it ₹9,000 below the 15R.
- A dedicated telephoto camera and listed up-to-2× optical zoom matter to you.
- You value the GT 7’s advertised 120 W wired charging.
- You prefer a phone explicitly listed with an LTPO AMOLED display.
Choose the OnePlus 15R if
- You want the higher listed display refresh rate: 165 Hz rather than 120 Hz.
- You place more weight on its larger stated battery capacity, while recognizing that capacity is not a runtime result.
- You want to consider the update period reported by TechRadar, after confirming the official policy for your region.
Neither chipset specification establishes a performance winner, and the available camera figures do not establish image-quality superiority. For most buyers, the practical decision is whether the GT 7’s price and telephoto hardware outweigh the 15R’s higher refresh rate and greater stated battery capacity.
