The Realme 6 was an unusually capable budget phone when it launched in 2020. In 2026, it is best viewed as an inexpensive used 4G handset: still useful for calls, messaging, media and light gaming, but worthwhile only when the battery, regional model, carrier compatibility and software condition are acceptable.

What the Realme 6 is—and is not
Realme positioned the Realme 6 as a performance-focused budget phone, using the Helio G90T and a 90Hz display to stand out from ordinary entry-level models. It is a separate model from the Realme 6 Pro, Realme 6i and Realme 6s. Those phones can have different processors, cameras, batteries, bands and software, so a seller’s “Realme 6 series” description is not sufficient. The Realme 6 commonly appears as model RMX2001 in Realme support material.
The phone launched in India and other markets in 2020; the launch context is documented by Notebookcheck. It should not be confused with later products such as the Realme GT 6.

Display, design and everyday features
The 6.5-inch 2400 × 1080 IPS LCD remains one of the Realme 6’s better features. Its 90Hz mode can make scrolling and supported animations look smoother than 60Hz. It is not equivalent to a modern 120Hz OLED: LCD blacks and contrast are weaker, there is no OLED-style always-on display, and 90Hz can use more power.
The plastic body is relatively large and weighs about 191g. Practical hardware includes USB-C, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint reader integrated into the power button, a mono loudspeaker, and expandable storage. There is no wireless charging and no stereo speaker system.
On a used unit, inspect the panel for cracks, dead pixels, uneven backlighting, touch problems and image retention. Test both 60Hz and 90Hz modes rather than trusting the seller’s specification.
Performance and gaming
The Helio G90T uses Cortex-A76 and Cortex-A55 CPU cores with a Mali-G76 GPU. At launch it was unusually fast for a budget phone, and Notebookcheck described the Realme 6 as well suited to gaming for its price (original review).

That is historical context, not a 2026 ranking. A healthy phone can still manage messaging, web browsing, video playback and many less-demanding games. Newer 3D games, heavy multitasking, image processing and large app updates expose its age. Long gaming sessions can produce heat and reduced performance, so test a game for several minutes before purchase.
Battery life and 30W charging
Realme specifies a 4,300mAh typical battery and 30W Flash Charge. The original charger and a compatible cable are needed to obtain the advertised charging mode; a generic USB-C charger may be slower. Charging time also varies with temperature, battery wear and the charger’s condition.
Notebookcheck recorded strong Wi-Fi endurance in its launch-era testing, but that result cannot be transferred directly to a phone that has spent years in use. Lithium-ion capacity declines with age, and a replacement battery may have lower capacity or poorer thermal behavior than the original. Check battery drain during a short video or gaming session, confirm that charging is stable, and ask whether the battery was replaced and by whom.

Cameras: capable hardware, dated processing
The rear array comprises a 64MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera with a 119-degree field of view, a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP monochrome/portrait camera. The front camera is 16MP. Official specifications list rear video up to 4K at 30fps, 1080p at 30fps and 60fps, and electronic stabilization branded UIS or UIS Max in some regional material (European specifications; Australian specifications).
In good light, the main camera can produce useful detail. The ultra-wide camera is less capable, while the macro and monochrome sensors add limited practical value. Low-light processing and stabilization are behind newer phones, and 64MP alone does not indicate flagship image quality. Realme noted that some stabilization and selfie slow-motion functions were planned through later OTA updates, so feature availability depends on region and installed software.
Software, updates and security
The launch configuration was Android 10 with realme UI. Realme’s Taiwan support page records firmware RMX2001_11.B.65, released on August 26, 2021, with the August 2021 Android security patch (Taiwan update page). The UAE support page lists regional RMX2001 material and gives update instructions (UAE support page).
Those records do not establish a universal current version or a continuing support commitment. Realme’s current security-advisory listings focus on newer models, and current Realme 6 coverage could not be verified from the manufacturer’s advisory pages (security advisories; global support). Treat regular current security updates as unguaranteed. Check the installed Android version and security-patch date under Settings → About device before paying.
That matters for banking, password managers, work accounts and sensitive personal data. A custom ROM might extend the phone’s life, but bootloader access, banking and DRM compatibility, camera features and installation safety vary; do not assume a particular ROM is supported.

The Realme 6 has no 5G. Imported variants may also lack U.S.-important bands such as 12, 13, 66 and 71. Band overlap alone does not guarantee service: carrier certification, VoLTE provisioning, local network shutdowns and the exact model all matter. Use the Kimovil U.S. compatibility guide as a starting point, then verify with the carrier.
Before a U.S. purchase
- Obtain the exact model number and regional variant.
- Check the IMEI with the intended carrier for eligibility and blacklist status.
- Confirm VoLTE support and carrier approval.
- Check the LTE bands required where you live.
- Confirm that the phone is unlocked and not financed or remotely managed.
- Buy only with a meaningful return period.
Do not rely on “global,” “international” or “4G unlocked” in a listing, and do not assume AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon or an MVNO will accept the phone.

| Model | What to remember |
|---|---|
| Realme 6 | Helio G90T, 90Hz FHD+ LCD, 64MP quad camera, 4G |
| Realme 6 Pro | Different processor, camera arrangement and regional specifications; not interchangeable with the Realme 6 |
| Realme 6i | Lower-positioned model with different hardware and display; do not use Realme 6 specifications for it |
Verify the model in Settings → About device and compare it with the manufacturer’s regional page. Memory, storage, NFC, bands, accessories and colors can differ between markets.
Used-buying checklist
- Confirm the exact model number, ideally RMX2001 or the correct regional equivalent.
- Verify RAM and storage in the operating system, not only in the listing.
- Test the display, touch response and both refresh-rate modes.
- Test every camera, autofocus, flash, video recording and stabilization.
- Connect USB-C charging and check whether compatible 30W charging works.
- Test both SIM slots, mobile data, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC where relevant and the headphone jack.
- Enroll and unlock the fingerprint reader.
- Observe battery drain during video playback or a short game.
- Confirm the phone is unlocked, not blacklisted, financed or remotely managed.
- Verify IMEI compatibility with the intended carrier.
- Check the Android security-patch date before payment.
- Prefer a seller offering a return period, especially for imported phones.
Who should buy it in 2026?
Existing owners
Keep it if the battery remains healthy and your apps and carrier work reliably. Replacing it is sensible when security-sensitive use, camera quality, 5G or dependable long-term updates becomes important.
Used buyers in officially supported markets
It can make sense as a very inexpensive secondary, media or light-gaming phone when the battery and screen are good and the price is well below newer supported devices.
U.S. import buyers
Buy only after exact-model, IMEI, VoLTE and band checks. A cheap imported unit that cannot register reliably is not a bargain.
