The realme 16 is the better fit if you want a sharper AMOLED screen, a higher-resolution selfie camera, faster listed charging and longer listed software support. The realme 16x 5G gives you a larger display, a higher stated refresh rate and a lower India price in the comparison snapshot. Both are listed with 7,000 mAh batteries and 50 MP main rear cameras, but neither phone is an automatic winner for every buyer.

In the India comparison listing reviewed by 91mobiles on 7 October 2026, the displayed Amazon prices were ₹36,490 for the realme 16 and ₹28,999 for the realme 16x 5G—a difference of ₹7,491. Treat these as listing snapshots, not guaranteed current prices or a like-for-like memory-variant comparison: the 16x listing identifies the 4 GB + 128 GB version, while a separate 91mobiles product page listed the realme 16 at ₹36,499 for 8 GB + 128 GB.

Launch pricing is a different reference point. Gadgets 360 reported on 12 August 2026 that the realme 16x 5G launched in India at ₹25,999 for 4 GB + 128 GB, ₹27,999 for 6 GB + 128 GB and ₹30,999 for 6 GB + 256 GB. That report also mentioned a launch discount or exchange offer and sales beginning on 13 August through realme India and Flipkart. Those were launch-period terms, not proof that the prices or offers remain available.

Which phone has the better display?
Choose the realme 16 for resolution and panel type
The realme 16 has a 6.57-inch Flexible AMOLED panel at 1080 × 2372 resolution and 120 Hz. Its FHD+ resolution gives it a denser image specification than the 16x, and AMOLED is the panel type to favor if those are your priorities.
Choose the realme 16x 5G for size and refresh-rate figure
The 16x has the larger 6.8-inch screen and a stated 144 Hz refresh rate, but it is an LCD panel with 720 × 1570 HD+ resolution. The trade-off is straightforward: more screen area and a higher refresh-rate specification, versus the realme 16’s sharper resolution and AMOLED panel. Refresh-rate figures alone do not establish which screen looks better in every use.
Are the realme 16 and 16x 5G equally fast?
The realme 16 is listed with the Dimensity 6400 Turbo and 8 GB or 12 GB RAM options; the 16x 5G has a Dimensity 6300 and 4 GB or 6 GB RAM options. Those specifications make the 16 the stronger choice on listed memory configurations, but the chipset names alone do not settle real-world performance.

In 91mobiles’ benchmark snapshot reviewed 7 October 2026, the realme 16 scored 611,679 in AnTuTu and the 16x scored 632,291. These are one outlet’s results, not guaranteed scores for every device or evidence that the 16x will be faster in every task. Consider the RAM variant you are buying and your workload rather than treating either the chipset tier or a single benchmark as a universal verdict.
Which phone has the better cameras?
Both comparison listings name a 50 MP main rear camera, but matching megapixel counts do not prove matching photo quality. The realme 16 also lists a 2 MP monochrome rear camera, while the 16x listing identifies only its 50 MP main camera.
The clearest specification difference is at the front: the realme 16 lists a 50 MP selfie camera and the 16x lists an 8 MP one. That gives the 16 the higher selfie-camera resolution on paper; it does not establish image quality in a controlled comparison.

Which one has better battery life and charging?
Both phones are listed with 7,000 mAh batteries. The realme 16 is listed with 60 W charging, compared with 45 W for the 16x, so its stated charging wattage is higher. Wattage alone does not establish actual charging time.

91mobiles reports a 14-hour-38-minute PCMark battery result for the realme 16, but its comparison listing has no corresponding PCMark result for the 16x. That is not a matched test, so it cannot establish which phone lasts longer in comparable use.
How long is software support listed for each model?
91mobiles’ comparison listing says both phones run Android 16, with 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates for the realme 16, versus 2 years of OS updates and 3 years of security updates for the 16x. On those reported terms, the 16 has one additional year in each category. Confirm the applicable support policy with realme before relying on it for a purchase decision.
Quick Recap
Which realme phone should you buy?
- Pick the realme 16 if AMOLED, FHD+ sharpness, a 50 MP front-camera specification, 60 W charging or the longer support period listed by 91mobiles matters most to you.
- Pick the realme 16x 5G if you prefer a larger screen, want the higher stated refresh rate, or the lower price available for your chosen India variant is the deciding factor.
- Compare the exact memory variants before deciding: the 16 has higher listed RAM options, and the displayed price snapshots do not establish a same-RAM comparison.
