The India-market realme 12 5G is a sensible everyday phone if you value a large, smooth screen, dependable routine performance and long battery life. Its 108MP main camera can take pleasing daylight shots, but low-light photos and selfies are weaker, and demanding games can expose frame drops and heat. The 6.72-inch display is LCD, not AMOLED. This review covers the India 5G model; realme sells different phones under the realme 12 name in other markets.

How good is the realme 12 5G for everyday use?
In 91mobiles’ review, everyday tasks, multitasking and casual games ran adequately. That makes the phone better suited to browsing, messaging, video and lighter play than to sustained high-performance gaming. Its 120Hz refresh rate can make scrolling feel smoother, while the 6.72-inch size gives videos and apps plenty of room. The trade-off is LCD: it does not offer the contrast characteristics of an AMOLED panel.
Gaming: fine for casual play, less convincing under load
91mobiles reported AnTuTu 417,413 and Geekbench scores of 738 single-core and 1,935 multi-core. These are results from that review’s testing, not guaranteed scores for every handset or software version. In its half-hour BGMI test at HD settings, the reviewer observed noticeable frame drops, a temperature increase of about 9°C and an 8% battery decrease. That test points to limitations in demanding, sustained play rather than proving how every game will behave.

If gaming is a priority, compare actual local options for chipset performance and sustained play, not just screen refresh rate. The review found the Redmi Note 13 stronger for gaming and noted its AMOLED display advantage; current value depends on local prices and configurations.
Camera review: good daylight, weaker low light and selfies
91mobiles found that the 108MP main camera focused relatively quickly and produced decent daylight photos for the price, with vibrant, punchy color. The reviewer also noted that colors could look slightly oversaturated. In low light, photos lost detail and showed some grain. Portrait cut-outs could have inconsistent edge separation, making the background blur look artificial in places.

The review found selfie facial detail underwhelming. For casual daytime photos the main camera is the more persuasive part of the setup; it is a less convincing choice if night shots, portrait consistency or detailed selfies are high on your list.
Battery life and charging
The 5,000mAh battery is one of the phone’s stronger points. In 91mobiles’ testing, it lasted 19 hours and 15 minutes in the PCMark battery test, and the reviewer estimated 5–6 hours of screen-on time in real use. Those figures describe the reviewer’s test and use, not a guaranteed runtime; brightness, network conditions, apps and gaming can change results.

Should you buy the India realme 12 5G?
Consider it if you want a big, smooth LCD screen, good everyday responsiveness, dependable battery endurance and a main camera that performs reasonably in daylight. Look elsewhere if you prioritize AMOLED contrast, demanding gaming, low-light photography or detailed selfies. Before deciding, compare the phone with alternatives such as Redmi Note 13 on display, gaming performance, camera results, battery and software support, then check current prices for the same storage configuration. The 2024 launch prices—₹16,999 for 6GB/128GB and ₹17,999 for 8GB/128GB, reported by The Indian Express—are historical and should not be treated as current prices.
