Short answer: Razer lists the Wolverine V4 Pro as compatible with Xbox and PC. It is built around extensive physical and software customization, including removable back buttons, macro bumpers, adjustable triggers, swappable thumbstick caps, four onboard profiles and app-based remapping. Razer also claims up to 8,000 Hz polling on PC, native Steam support through HyperSpeed Wireless, up to 27 hours of battery life and a three-hour full charge. PlayStation compatibility is not listed. The official product information does not provide a first-time setup procedure, so connection steps should come from the current product-specific Razer guide rather than a generic controller tutorial.
Which platforms does the Wolverine V4 Pro support?
Xbox compatibility
Razer’s official product page states: “The Razer Wolverine V4 Pro is compatible with both Xbox and PC.” That is the clearest platform statement available for this controller. The listing identifies Xbox support without narrowing it to a particular game, subscription or accessory.

For an Xbox buyer, the important point is that Xbox is an explicitly supported platform, not an assumption based on the controller’s shape or branding. Check the current product documentation for the exact connection mode and console requirements before using it, because the product page used for this FAQ does not publish first-connection button combinations or a complete console setup sequence.
PC compatibility
PC is also explicitly supported. The PC-specific feature claims include polling of up to 8,000 Hz and native Steam support through Razer HyperSpeed Wireless. Those claims make the controller relevant to PC users who want wireless play and software customization, but they do not mean every game, USB or wireless configuration will operate at the maximum polling rate.

What about PlayStation?
PlayStation is not listed on the official product page information covered here. That is not proof that the controller can never function with a PlayStation system, but there is no manufacturer-supported PlayStation compatibility claim to rely on. Treat Xbox and PC as the confirmed platforms and verify any PlayStation requirement directly with Razer before buying.

What can you customize?
The Wolverine V4 Pro combines interchangeable hardware with software controls. The physical changes are useful when you want to alter reach, grip or trigger travel; the app-based controls are aimed at button layout, stick response and trigger actuation.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesRemovable rear controls
- Four magnetic mouse-click back buttons: The buttons are removable, so you can decide whether rear inputs belong in your grip at all. Their mouse-click description suggests a short, distinct press, but the product page does not provide an independent measurement of travel, force or durability.
- Two claw-grip macro bumpers: These additional bumpers are positioned for a claw-style hold and are described as macro controls. Their usefulness depends on whether your hand naturally reaches them without changing your aim or grip.
Because the back buttons and bumpers are separate from the standard face controls, they can be used for actions that would otherwise require moving a thumb. That is a design benefit rather than a promise of faster performance in every game; comfort and muscle memory still determine whether the extra inputs help.
Adjustable triggers
Razer describes the triggers as dual-mode and adjustable. Trigger-actuation customization is also supported in Razer Synapse and companion apps. In practical terms, adjustment lets you choose between a shorter, more immediate press and a longer conventional pull when the available mode or setting suits the game. The page does not publish the exact travel distances, switch names or an app menu path, so those details should be taken from the current software interface.

Swappable thumbstick caps
The thumbstick caps can be swapped. This gives you a way to change the contact shape and height of the sticks without replacing the whole controller. Cap choice is a personal fit decision: a taller cap may give more leverage for fine movement, while a different shape may feel more secure during fast camera turns. Razer does not state a complete cap inventory in the information covered here, so check the box contents and current product guide for the specific options included.
Removable magnetic faceplate
The faceplate is removable and magnetic. That makes access and cosmetic or configuration changes easier than with a permanently fixed shell. The product page identifies the feature but does not establish a list of alternate faceplates, a tool requirement or a replacement program.
Software remapping and response controls
Razer says Synapse and companion apps support button remapping, thumbstick dead-zone adjustment and trigger-actuation customization. These controls are separate from physically moving a button or changing a cap: they alter what an input does or when it is recognized.
Use remapping to put a frequently used action on a rear button, for example, while leaving the original face-button layout available to other players. Dead-zone adjustment changes how much stick movement is ignored near the center. Trigger-actuation settings change the point at which a trigger press is treated as an input. The exact labels and available ranges can change with the app version, so use the current Wolverine V4 Pro software instructions for implementation rather than relying on a generic Synapse guide.
Four onboard profiles
Razer lists four onboard profiles. Storing profiles on the controller can be useful when you move between games or PCs, because your preferred mappings do not have to be rebuilt each time. The product page does not specify whether every setting is stored identically across Xbox and PC, how profiles are selected on the hardware, or whether a particular app must be running to switch them. Confirm those details in the current guide.

How do the thumbsticks and zero-percent dead zone behave?
Capacitive sensor explanation
Razer’s FAQ says the controller uses capacitive thumbstick sensors. The company explains that a true zero-percent dead zone does not filter small movements, so micro-tremors or tiny unintentional motions can register as input.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →That behavior is different from conventional stick drift diagnosis. At zero dead zone, a slight movement on screen can be the expected result of exposing every detectable change rather than evidence that the stick is defective. Increasing the dead zone applies a software buffer around the center, which can hide small tremors but also reduces the amount of very fine movement available near neutral.
What this explanation does not prove
Razer’s statement is an explanation of input behavior, not an independent test and not a guarantee that drift cannot occur. If a stick moves substantially while untouched, worsens over time or remains inaccurate after a sensible dead-zone adjustment, document the behavior and use Razer’s current support or warranty process. The available product information does not define a diagnostic threshold for normal versus faulty movement.
Does it really support 8,000 Hz polling and Steam?
Polling-rate claim
Razer claims up to 8,000 Hz polling on PC. A higher polling rate means the controller can report its input state more frequently, reducing the interval between reports in configurations that support the setting. “Up to” matters: the claim is a manufacturer maximum, not a measured result for every game, operating-system configuration or connection mode.
The product page does not provide a test method, latency table or list of games that run at 8,000 Hz. It therefore supports describing the feature as a PC capability claimed by Razer, not as a guaranteed improvement that every player will see.

Native Steam support
Razer also claims native Steam support through HyperSpeed Wireless. This indicates that the controller is intended to work with Steam on PC without treating the platform as an unlisted or improvised use case. It does not establish that every Steam game exposes the same controls, that every title recognizes every remapped input, or that the maximum polling mode is active in every game.
For PC buyers, the practical questions are whether the games you play accept the controller layout you want and whether your wireless setup supports the claimed mode. Check a game’s own controller settings after following the current Razer instructions.
How long does the battery last?
Razer advertises up to 27 hours of battery life and says a full charge takes three hours. Both figures are manufacturer claims; the product page does not publish test conditions such as polling mode, lighting, wireless environment, vibration use or battery-age assumptions.
| Battery detail | Razer’s stated figure | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum advertised runtime | Up to 27 hours | A best-case ceiling from the manufacturer, not a guaranteed runtime in every setup. |
| Full-charge time | Three hours | The stated time for a complete charge; the page does not describe the charging conditions. |
Plan around the word “up to.” A demanding wireless configuration may not match the maximum, and battery capacity can change with use. If you need a precise runtime for a tournament, trip or long session, measure your own configuration rather than treating 27 hours as a fixed interval.

What is known about first-time setup?
The official product information used for this FAQ does not publish a step-by-step initial setup procedure. It does not specify button combinations, connection modes, pairing order, app-installation sequence or an exact firmware workflow. Inventing those steps would risk sending Xbox and PC users through the wrong process.

A safe way to prepare
- Open the current Wolverine V4 Pro product guide or support documentation from Razer before connecting the controller. Use the guide for the exact Xbox or PC mode shown for your hardware.
- Identify whether your intended setup is Xbox, wired PC or wireless PC, then follow the guide’s matching connection instructions rather than combining steps from another Wolverine model.
- If the guide calls for Razer Synapse or a companion app, install the version and components it names, then use that app for remapping, dead-zone and trigger-actuation changes.
- After connection, test the standard controls before assigning rear buttons or macros. This separates a connection problem from a mapping problem.
- Save only the profiles you have verified. The controller has four onboard profiles, but the available information does not state the hardware shortcut used to select them.
These are preparation and verification principles, not a substitute for the missing product-specific procedure. Connection instructions can change with software and hardware revisions, so the current Razer guide should take precedence over older videos or generic controller instructions.
How should you plan the four profiles?
Four onboard profiles are enough to separate common control patterns without rebuilding every assignment. A sensible approach is to reserve one profile for the default layout, then use the others for games that benefit from different rear-button, trigger or stick settings. For example, one profile might retain standard triggers while another uses a shorter actuation setting; the exact choices depend on your games and comfort.
Keep a written note or screenshot of each profile while you experiment. That makes it easier to recover a familiar layout if a remap feels wrong. Because Razer does not document the profile-selection shortcut or cross-platform storage behavior in the available product information, confirm those operations in the current guide before relying on them away from your main PC.

Razer says the Wolverine V4 Pro is sold through its online store, official RazerStores and authorized retailers worldwide. Availability can vary by region. The available product information does not verify a particular marketplace listing, current price, stock status or affiliate eligibility, so check the retailer serving your country at the time you buy.
When comparing listings, confirm that the name is exactly Wolverine V4 Pro and that the package and warranty terms match your region. Do not assume that a similarly named Wolverine controller has the same back buttons, profiles, polling claim or wireless features.
How to compare it with another controller
Specifications alone cannot establish which controller feels better or performs faster. A useful comparison keeps the same questions on both products:
| Comparison axis | Question to ask |
|---|---|
| Platform support | Are Xbox and PC explicitly supported, and is any other platform actually listed? |
| Connection | Is use wired, wireless or both, and which mode is associated with each performance claim? |
| Extra controls | How many rear or bumper inputs exist, and can they be removed? |
| Trigger adjustment | Are trigger modes physically adjustable, software-controlled or both? |
| Stick configuration | Can caps be swapped, and what sensor and dead-zone controls are documented? |
| PC features | Is a polling-rate maximum stated, and is native Steam support claimed? |
| Profile storage | How many profiles are stored onboard, and how are they selected? |
| Battery | What runtime and charge figures does the manufacturer publish, and are they independently measured? |
Using these axes prevents a headline number such as 8,000 Hz from overshadowing fit, platform support or the controls you will actually use. The Wolverine V4 Pro’s figures above are manufacturer statements, not a side-by-side laboratory result.
