Short answer: The Razer Kiyo V2 Pro is specified for Windows 10 or later, a direct USB-C connection compatible with USB 3.0, internet access and 500 MB of free storage. It supports 4K video at up to 60 frames per second, an 86° configurable diagonal field of view, HDR at 30 frames per second, and—according to Razer’s technical specification—a built-in stereo microphone. Razer explicitly lists OBS and XSplit, while its product FAQ also names Microsoft Teams as compatible.

One specification needs special care: a Tom’s Guide review dated October 16, 2026 says the webcam has no built-in microphone, contradicting Razer’s own specification. The manufacturer’s technical sheet is the authoritative product claim, but buyers who require an integrated mic should verify the unit and firmware they receive.

What the Kiyo V2 Pro is designed to do

The Kiyo V2 Pro is a USB-C webcam built around an 8.3-megapixel Sony STARVIS 2 sensor. Razer positions it as a 4K, high-frame-rate camera for streaming, meetings and recording. Its headline modes are 4K at 60 or 30 FPS, with lower resolutions available when your application, lighting or bandwidth makes 4K impractical.

The camera is intended to connect directly to a computer rather than through an unpowered hub. Razer’s specification calls for USB 3.0 compatibility, and the package includes a detachable 2 m USB-C-to-USB-C cable. A direct connection gives the camera the best chance of negotiating its higher-bandwidth modes and avoids a common source of intermittent video problems.

  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Compatibility and system requirements

Official operating-system requirement

Razer’s technical specification lists Windows 10 or later. That is the only operating-system requirement stated in the specification reviewed for this FAQ. It does not provide a complete compatibility matrix for macOS, Linux or game consoles.

For a Windows setup, plan for all of the following:

  • Windows 10 or a later Windows release.
  • A direct USB-C port that is compatible with USB 3.0.
  • Internet access, which may be required for software download, account services or updates.
  • At least 500 MB of free storage.

A USB-C connector alone does not prove USB 3.0 capability. Some USB-C ports support only slower USB modes, display output or charging. If the webcam falls back to a lower resolution or frame rate, check the port’s specifications and connect directly to a known USB 3.0-capable port.

Apps Razer identifies as compatible

Razer lists OBS and XSplit compatibility. Its product FAQ also names Microsoft Teams. In practice, these applications normally allow you to choose the Kiyo V2 Pro as the camera and, where available, as the audio input. Application support does not guarantee that every mode will be exposed: the software, selected codec, USB bandwidth and computer performance can all limit the choices shown.

What is not officially confirmed

The published specification does not confirm macOS or console support for this exact model. An independent review may report that a device works on another platform, but that is not the same as an official compatibility guarantee. Treat those platforms as unconfirmed until Razer publishes model-specific documentation.

Video resolutions, frame rates and codecs

Razer publishes the following video modes. The available choices can vary by application and by the negotiated USB connection.

Resolution Supported frame rates Notes
4K 60 FPS, 30 FPS Highest listed resolution
1440p 60 FPS, 30 FPS Intermediate detail and bandwidth demand
1080p 60 FPS, 30 FPS, 24 FPS Common choice for streaming and meetings
720p 60 FPS, 30 FPS Lower-bandwidth option

The specification lists MJPEG and H.264 up to 4K/60. NV12 is listed up to 4K/30. If an application offers fewer modes than the table, test another capture format in that application and confirm that the USB connection is operating at the required speed. Codec availability is application-dependent; a camera specification does not mean every program exposes every codec.

What is the field of view?

The Kiyo V2 Pro has an 86° diagonal field of view. Razer describes it as wide-angle and configurable in software. The regional specification gives the lens a 4.8 mm focal length, equivalent to 24 mm on a full-frame camera.

  • What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.

An 86° diagonal view is broad enough to include more than a tightly cropped head-and-shoulders shot. It can help when two people share a desk or when you want to show a little of the surrounding scene. The trade-off is perspective: a wide lens can make objects near the edges look more stretched, and placing the webcam too close can exaggerate facial features.

How to choose a useful framing

  • Use the widest setting when you need to include another person, a whiteboard or a larger background.
  • Reduce the software field of view when you want a tighter face shot without physically moving the camera.
  • Keep the lens near eye level and leave a small amount of headroom; digital cropping cannot recover detail that was never captured.
  • Check the preview in the application you actually use, because software crops and aspect-ratio settings can change the apparent framing.

Does it support HDR?

Yes, but the documented limit matters: Razer specifies HDR support at 30 FPS. The specification does not state HDR support at 60 FPS, so you should not assume that 4K/60 and HDR are available together.

HDR can preserve more highlight and shadow detail in difficult lighting, such as a bright window behind you. It is not a substitute for balanced lighting. A strong backlight, mixed color temperatures or a very dark room can still produce an unflattering image, and some conferencing or recording applications may disable HDR or expose it only at particular resolutions.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Setting expectations for HDR recording

  1. Open the camera controls in your recording or streaming application.
  2. Select a mode that the application identifies as HDR, then verify the displayed frame rate.
  3. Confirm that the preview and the saved recording both retain the intended dynamic range; some software converts the feed during capture.
  4. If you need 60 FPS, test the non-HDR mode at the desired resolution and compare motion smoothness with the HDR result.

Does the Kiyo V2 Pro have a built-in microphone?

Razer’s technical specification says yes. It lists a built-in stereo microphone with an omnidirectional polar pattern and 16-bit/48 kHz audio. Those figures describe the microphone hardware and digital audio format, not a guarantee that every application will select it automatically.

There is a published conflict. Tom’s Guide’s review dated October 16, 2026 states: “The Razer Kiyo V2 Pro doesn’t feature a built-in microphone.” Because that conclusion directly contradicts Razer’s own technical specification, treat Razer’s specification as the manufacturer’s authoritative product claim while recognizing that the reviewed hardware, an early sample or a configuration issue may differ.

How to verify the microphone on your computer

  1. Connect the webcam directly by USB-C and allow Windows to finish installing the device.
  2. Open Windows sound settings and look under input devices for a Kiyo V2 Pro or Razer webcam microphone entry.
  3. Select that input, speak at a normal distance and watch the level meter respond.
  4. In OBS, XSplit or Microsoft Teams, choose the webcam microphone explicitly instead of leaving the program on an older headset or laptop mic.
  5. Make a short recording and listen for clipping, room echo and fan noise before an important call or stream.

Because the capsule is omnidirectional, it is designed to pick up sound from all directions rather than strongly reject room noise from behind the camera. A quiet room and close, consistent speaking distance will generally matter more than the nominal 16-bit/48 kHz format.

Mounting, cable and what is in the box

The package includes the Kiyo V2 Pro, a detachable 2 m USB-C-to-USB-C cable and documentation. The fixed L-shaped mount is designed for universal monitor or tripod mounting and includes a standard 1/4-inch tripod thread.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For a monitor, place the mount so the camera is stable and the lens is close to eye level. For a tripod, screw the camera onto the 1/4-inch thread without forcing it; support the cable so its weight does not twist the mount. The detachable cable is useful if you need a different cable length, but any replacement must support the required USB data speed, not just charging.

Setup procedure for Windows

  1. Check that the computer runs Windows 10 or later and has at least 500 MB of free storage.
  2. Attach the mount to the monitor or tripod and position the lens at eye level.
  3. Connect the supplied USB-C cable directly to a USB-C port compatible with USB 3.0.
  4. Allow Windows to detect the camera. Install Razer software only from Razer’s official support or product pages if you need configuration controls.
  5. Open your chosen application and select the Kiyo V2 Pro for video. If you intend to use its microphone, select the corresponding Razer audio input separately.
  6. Choose a resolution and frame rate supported by both the application and your USB connection. Start with 1080p/30 or 1080p/60, then move to 1440p or 4K if the preview is stable.
  7. Adjust the configurable field of view, exposure and HDR option in the available camera controls, then make a test recording.

Troubleshooting common problems

The camera is not detected

  • Reconnect it directly rather than through a hub or dock.
  • Try another USB-C port that is documented as USB 3.0-capable.
  • Close other applications that may have exclusive access to the camera.
  • Restart the computer after installing or updating camera software.

4K or 60 FPS is missing

  • Confirm that the application supports the selected resolution, frame rate and codec.
  • Check whether the port or cable is negotiating a slower USB mode.
  • Try MJPEG or H.264 if the application offers a choice; NV12 is listed only up to 4K/30.
  • Disable HDR when testing 60 FPS, because HDR is documented at 30 FPS.

The image looks too wide or distorted

Reduce the configurable field of view, move the camera farther away and keep faces near the center of the frame. An 86° diagonal lens is intentionally wide, so edge distortion is a normal optical trade-off rather than necessarily a defect.

The microphone does not appear

Check Windows input devices and the application’s audio menu separately from its camera menu. If no Razer audio device appears after a direct connection and restart, compare the unit with the manufacturer’s current specification and contact Razer support, since published third-party information conflicts with the stated microphone hardware.

Practical buying and compatibility checklist

The Kiyo V2 Pro is a logical fit if you need 4K/60 video, a configurable wide view and a standard tripod option on a Windows computer with a suitable USB-C port. Before buying or deploying it, confirm these points:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Your computer runs Windows 10 or later.
  • A direct USB-C USB 3.0-capable port is available.
  • Your application exposes the resolution, frame rate and codec you need.
  • HDR at 30 FPS meets your use case; the specification does not promise HDR at 60 FPS.
  • You are comfortable verifying the microphone because an October 16, 2026 review conflicts with Razer’s built-in-microphone specification.
  • Your monitor arm, desk or tripod can support a 1/4-inch threaded mount and a 2 m cable route.
