RayNeo GT Max Comfort: A Promising Fit, With One Hands-On Caveat

At IFA 2026, a Tom’s Guide reviewer found the RayNeo GT Max comfortable and said the glasses did not feel front-heavy. That is an encouraging hands-on impression—not proof that they will fit everyone or remain comfortable during all-day wear. RayNeo’s specifications help explain the design, but they cannot replace trying the glasses on and choosing the right fit.

What the hands-on impression actually tells you

Tom’s Guide’s author wrote that they were “completely taken aback by just how comfortable they were” after trying the GT Max at IFA 2026. The reviewer also said the glasses did not feel front-heavy. That makes comfort a notable first impression, not a long-term verdict: the tryout does not establish how the glasses feel over hours of use or across different face shapes.

RayNeo lists the glasses at 78 g and offers three interpupillary distance (IPD) sizes. Those details describe the product, but they do not independently demonstrate comfort. Fit can vary, so use the size guidance rather than assuming the reviewer’s experience will be yours.

How to choose an IPD size

RayNeo offers the GT Max in three IPD sizes. Its support guidance recommends measuring your IPD before ordering.

  • S: below 64 mm
  • M: 64–67 mm
  • L: above 67 mm

IPD is the distance between the centers of your pupils. Select the size that matches your measurement; the available evidence does not establish that one size is more comfortable for everyone.

What the GT Max is—and what you need to use it

The GT Max is display glasses: it shows content from a connected source device rather than operating as a standalone computer. For wired video, the source must support compatible USB-C DisplayPort output. A USB-C connector alone does not guarantee that video will work.

RayNeo says you can use the glasses as an external display without installing the RayNeo XR App. The app adds app-based features and settings. RayNeo also says Dolby Vision playback requires a separately sold Pocket TV Pro; that accessory is optional for ordinary display use.

RayNeo describes its “Native 3DoF” feature as keeping the screen steady as you move your head. That is the manufacturer’s feature description, not an independent test result.

AI conversion is not the same as native 3D

RayNeo describes AI 2D-to-3D conversion with specific phone and chipset requirements and advises checking current compatibility. Do not assume the feature works with every phone. Native 3D playback and AI conversion are separate capabilities.

Check compatibility and included accessories before buying

Before ordering, confirm that your intended source outputs DisplayPort video over USB-C, and measure your IPD to select a size. If you plan to use an HDMI-only source, the exact adapter model and its power requirements matter; compatibility should be confirmed for that setup rather than inferred from the connector.

RayNeo’s support information lists a USB-C-to-USB-C DP-compatible cable, carrying case, nose pads, prescription lens sample, temple pads, cleaning cloth and guides in the box. RayNeo says prescription lenses are supported; confirm current insert availability and fit for the GT Max before relying on a particular option.
