Most Ray-Ban Meta connection failures are caused by an old Bluetooth record, pairing mode not being active, or the glasses still being linked to another Meta account. Charge the glasses, remove the old pairing, put them in pairing mode with the case button, and add them again through the Meta AI app. A normal restart or force restart keeps on-glasses captures; a factory reset erases them, so use it only after saving your media.
Find where the connection is failing
The symptom tells you which fix to try first. Bluetooth discovery, the Meta AI app, and account ownership are separate stages, so a phone can show the glasses while the app still cannot use them.

1. Prepare the glasses and phone
Charge the case and glasses
Place the glasses in their charging case for at least one hour, or until the case LED is green. A low charge can prevent discovery or interrupt pairing before the app finishes. Keep the glasses docked while charging and make sure the case is actually receiving power.
Turn the glasses on
Confirm that the power switch on the left temple is on. The case can be charged while the glasses themselves remain switched off, so check this physical control before changing phone settings.

Prepare the phone
- Keep the phone close to the case and turn Bluetooth on.
- Install or open the Meta AI app and sign in to the Meta account that should own the glasses.
- For troubleshooting, keep the phone in front of you or in a front pocket rather than behind your body.
Do not start by repeatedly tapping the glasses in the phone’s Bluetooth menu. Ray-Ban’s pairing flow is completed through the Meta AI app; the Bluetooth list is useful for removing a stale record, not for replacing the app’s Add device process.
2. Clear stale pairing records
A previous pairing can leave the phone believing the glasses are already configured while Meta AI treats them as unavailable. Remove the old relationship from both places before trying again.
On iPhone
- Open Settings and select Bluetooth.
- Find the Ray-Ban Meta glasses in the device list and tap the information button beside them.
- Choose Forget This Device and confirm.
- Open Meta AI and remove or unpair the glasses if they are still listed in the app.
- Turn Bluetooth off, wait a few seconds, and turn it on again.
- Restart the iPhone before beginning a fresh pairing attempt.
On Android
- Open the phone’s Bluetooth or connected-device settings. Android labels differ by manufacturer; look for Connected devices, Bluetooth, or Previously connected devices.
- Select the glasses and choose Forget, Unpair, or Remove.
- In Meta AI, remove the glasses from the device list if they remain associated there.
- Toggle Bluetooth off and on, then restart the phone.
Removing a Bluetooth record does not delete captures from the glasses. It only clears the phone’s remembered connection. The glasses still need to be placed in pairing mode for the app to discover them.

3. Put the glasses into pairing mode and add them in Meta AI
- Leave the glasses powered on and dock them in the charging case.
- Close the case if necessary and press and hold the case button on the back for at least five seconds.
- Watch for a pulsing blue case LED. That pattern indicates pairing mode.
- Keep the case beside the phone. Discovery can take up to about ten seconds.
- Open Meta AI, enter the gear or settings area, choose Add device, and follow the on-screen prompts.
If the blue light never appears, repeat the five-second hold with the glasses properly seated and charged. A green case LED indicates charging status, not necessarily that the glasses are ready to pair; pairing mode is indicated by the pulsing blue light.

Complete the setup in Meta AI even if the glasses appear in the operating system’s Bluetooth list. The app establishes the device association and exposes firmware, capture import, calling, and audio controls that a generic Bluetooth connection does not configure by itself.
4. Remove radio and network conflicts
Improve the Bluetooth link
- Move within a short distance of the phone and keep the phone in front of your body or in a front pocket.
- Temporarily disconnect headphones, watches, cars, speakers, and other nearby Bluetooth devices. Reconnect them after the glasses work.
- Keep the case open and beside the phone while pairing so the signal is not blocked by a bag, desk, or your body.
Fix Android call and music problems
If the glasses pair but calls or music do not route through them, open the Bluetooth details for the glasses and verify that the switches for phone calls and media audio are enabled. The exact labels vary by Android version and manufacturer.
For some Android video-call connection problems, Ray-Ban recommends leaving Wi-Fi on while turning a VPN and the phone’s hotspot off. These settings can alter how the app reaches the glasses or its setup services. After changing them, close and reopen Meta AI and retry the call or setup.
Separate pairing from internet access
Bluetooth pairing and internet access are different. A phone may discover the glasses without a working data connection, but Meta AI may not finish account setup or device configuration. If the app stalls after discovery, check that the phone has a normal Wi-Fi or mobile-data connection and that a VPN or hotspot is not intercepting it.

5. Restart before you reset
Use a normal power cycle
Slide the glasses’ power switch off, wait briefly, and switch them on again. Close and reopen the charging case, then retry the Add device flow. This is a low-risk step: a normal restart does not delete captures.
Force-restart the glasses
- Switch the glasses off.
- Press and hold the capture button.
- While continuing to hold the capture button, switch the glasses on.
- Release the button when the status LED turns red.
Ray-Ban states that a force restart does not delete captures and does not require you to pair the glasses again. If the phone still shows an old connection, however, clear that phone record as described earlier and use the app’s Add device flow.
6. Factory-reset only after saving captures
A factory reset is the last self-service step. It removes the glasses’ account association and erases captures stored on the glasses. The reset is irreversible for those on-glasses files, so import or save every capture you need before starting. Media that has already been transferred elsewhere is not the target of the reset, but verify your copies before proceeding.
Reset sequence
- Close the right temple of the glasses.
- Press the capture button five times. Continue until the user LED turns orange.
- Press and hold the capture button until the LED flashes.
- Release the button.
- Wait while the LED cycles through white and green, then allow the glasses to shut off.
After the reset, remove any remaining Bluetooth entry from the phone, open Meta AI, and pair the glasses as a new device. A reset does not bypass charging or radio problems, so keep the case powered and the phone nearby during the new setup.

7. Resolve the one-account restriction
Ray-Ban’s official FAQ states: “Ray-Ban Meta Glasses can only pair with one Meta account at a time.” If Meta AI says the glasses belong to another account, the previous association must be cleared before a different owner can use them.
If you are the original owner
Sign in to the same Meta account used during the original setup. Remove the glasses from Meta AI, forget the phone’s Bluetooth record, and pair again through Add device. Switching phones does not by itself transfer ownership; the account association still matters.
If you bought or received the glasses from someone else
Ask the previous owner to remove the glasses from their Meta AI account if possible. If the old association cannot be cleared, perform the factory reset described above, understanding that it erases captures. The new owner can then complete setup with their own Meta account.

Do not interpret an account-ownership message as proof that the radio hardware is defective. It identifies an account state, and repeated Bluetooth toggles will not remove that state.

Use the symptom to choose the next branch
Bluetooth list is empty
- Confirm the left-temple switch is on and the glasses have charged for at least an hour.
- Dock them and hold the case button for five seconds or longer.
- Wait for the pulsing blue LED, then look in Meta AI rather than relying on a manual Bluetooth connection.
- If no blue light appears after charging and reseating, force-restart the glasses and try once more.
Bluetooth sees the glasses, but Meta AI does not
- Forget or remove the phone’s old Bluetooth record.
- Remove the glasses inside Meta AI.
- Toggle Bluetooth, restart the phone, and enter pairing mode again.
- Check that the phone is online and that a VPN or hotspot is not interfering.
The app finds the glasses, but setup will not finish
- Keep the case and phone close together until setup completes.
- Use the account intended to own the glasses.
- Disconnect other Bluetooth devices temporarily.
- On Android, leave Wi-Fi on and turn VPN and hotspot off for the setup attempt.
Pairing works, but calls or music do not
- Open the glasses’ Bluetooth details and enable call and media-audio profiles.
- Disconnect competing headsets, car systems, or speakers.
- Restart both the glasses and phone before testing again.
The glasses repeatedly disconnect
- Keep the phone on the same side or in front of your body during a test.
- Charge the case and glasses fully.
- Remove unused Bluetooth connections and retry in a quiet radio environment.
- If disconnections continue across more than one compatible phone, stop resetting and seek support.
When to contact Ray-Ban support
Use Ray-Ban’s assistance or warranty-claim route when the case will not show charging or pairing indicators, the glasses cannot be discovered after a clean pairing attempt, or the connection fails on multiple phones after the documented restart steps. A factory reset cannot repair a failed battery, charging case, radio, button, or phone-compatibility fault.
Before contacting support, note the phone model and operating-system version, whether the glasses appear in Bluetooth, which LED pattern you see, whether the failure occurs in Meta AI or only during calls, and whether the glasses are linked to another account. This information helps support distinguish an account problem from a connection or hardware problem. Avoid repeatedly factory-resetting the glasses while troubleshooting; every reset risks another loss of on-glasses captures.
Prevent the next pairing failure
- Keep the glasses charged in their case and switch them off when they will not be used for a long period.
- When changing phones, remove the old Bluetooth record and the old Meta AI device entry before pairing the new phone.
- Keep only the intended owner’s Meta account associated with the glasses.
- Save important captures before any reset or ownership transfer.
- For difficult Android setups, test with Wi-Fi on, VPN and hotspot off, and other Bluetooth accessories disconnected.
The safest order is always: charge and power on, clear stale records, enter pairing mode, add the glasses in Meta AI, reduce radio conflicts, restart or force-restart, and factory-reset only after saving captures. That sequence addresses the common software and account causes without risking your photos and videos unnecessarily.
